七天一周 Seven Days a Week

托辣开篇讲了创造的故事，上帝造这造那，第一天到第六天造了天地万物，第七天上帝休息了。
在希伯来语中每周第一天叫Yom Rishon或Yom Aleph，时间上从星期六天黑开始到星期日天黑结束。经上说“有晚有早，第一日。”第一天包含周六夜晚和周日白天，其余类推。
第二天叫Yom Sheni或Yom Bet， 时间上从星期日天黑开始到星期一天黑结束。经上说“有晚有早，第二日。”
第三天叫Yom Shelishi或Yom Gimel， 时间上从星期一天黑开始到星期二天黑结束。经上说“有晚有早，第三日。”
第四天叫Yom Revi’i或Yom Dalet， 时间上从星期二天黑开始到星期三天黑结束。经上说“有晚有早，第四日。”
第五天叫Yom Hamishi或Yom He， 时间上从星期三天黑开始到星期四天黑结束。经上说“有晚有早，第五日。”
第六天叫Yom Shishi或Yom Vav， 时间上从星期四天黑开始到星期五天黑结束。经上说“有晚有早，第六日。”
第七天不叫Yom什么，第七天有个专门的名字Shabbat（沙巴特），时间上从星期五天黑开始到星期六天黑结束。经上说“上帝在第七天停了他造化之工……他休息了……”，其中的“休息”和“沙巴特”在拼写上是一样的（一个是动词，一个是名词，读音上有点区别）。这“沙巴特”就是“休息日”的意思，在汉语中常被称为“安息日”，在英语中是写作Sabbath。
七天一周（星期），在希伯来语中叫Shavu’a（沙务阿），和希伯来语的数目字Sheva（七）同源。
