在《犹太人的追星族——巴勒斯坦人的近代史》中，作者范雨臣列出了一些数据，作者在文章发表后，添了附注，内容如下：
以上数据均取自 Joan Peters 所著《From Time Immemorial》一书。我最早获知奥斯曼帝国1893年对西巴勒斯坦的人口调查数据就是从该书的 p251页上，在该书p527页的注释上，给出了这一数据及其它相关数据的出处。2004年我有机会去黎巴嫩的阿拉伯国家档案馆核查了部分数据，其中包括1893年奥斯曼帝国在西巴勒斯坦的人口调查。由于该书数据的出处太多，我不能逐一核实，但就我已核实的数据，证明该书的数据是可信、可靠的。《From Time Immemorial》一书在西方很有影响、甚至引起了很大轰动，已再版了十多次。可惜，至今没有中译本。我曾想把它翻成中文，但全书共601页，而且字体特别小，我年龄已近70，感到力不从心。如果有谁想翻此书，我将提供力所能及的帮助。
