As part of a 10-day trip to Israel, earlier tonight I had the incredible opportunity to witness a Tisha B’Av observance at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
What better way to observe Tisha B’Av, remembering the destruction of the First and Second Temples, than to be at its last remaining walls?

I wish he had shown women praying too.
Edie Taylor
I was looking for Rachel, Rebecca, Leah and Miriam, but alas, they were not there.
I was there in April 1998 for the 50th anniversary of independence. It never fails to move me when I see the masses of people at the wall and how we keep our faith.
RE: Edie, and Jill,
May G-d lessen the anger, and hatred in your hearts that you would see in this beautiful video a political issue regarding woman’s rights. Jay, as a man, was on the man side. If you wish to see women, attend yourself, and go to the woman’s side. We are all part of one amazing religion (Judaism) and you should concentrate on unifying us per our shared traditions which have sustained us for thousands of years, instead of dividing us with your personal pet issues, and personal 1960’s driven politics and arrogant attempts to reform or reshape what is already perfect! - true Judaism! What a perfect lesson to be reminded of on Tisha B’Av!
I didn’t see dogs, cats, Christians, Taoists, Handicapped, or a myriad of non-Jewish males. So what! Does this mean that this video (and Judaism) is discriminatory against them? Nope! Your obsession of a need to “see women” or “looking for Rachel, Rebecca, Leah…” reflects on your own personal issues, and not that of Jay, Judaism, or the Commemoration.
Again, as is a (the?) lesson of Tisha B’Av, instead of destroying us with this constant need to mold Judiasm into a golden calf of your desires, let’s all unify around what has kept us as one people for centuries - our Judaism!
JILL AND EDIE: At approximately 4 minutes 37 seconds into the video, the video SHOWS the women’s side. I found it important to show both sides of prayer and I’m sorry that both of you missed it when viewing.
