(Photo by Courtney Raney) ![]() Parents of incoming students to New Community Jewish High School (NCJHS) gathered recently to celebrate Havdalah, mingle with other parents, and meet faculty, staff and board members. The ceremony was led by, from left: Rabbi David Vorspan, rabbi-in-residence, and Dr. Bruce Powell, head of school; along with Cantor Judy Greenfeld, on guitar, and NCJHS music teacher Jared Stein, also on guitar. Mike Greenfeld, incoming NCJHS board president, offered greetings, and several student leaders were on hand to greet guests. ![]() Congregation B’nai Emet in Simi Valley held its first Pet Parade on June 29. Rabbi Michele Paskow said a prayer for the pets, and animal behaviorist Jody Epstein helped solve some common behavioral problems and talked about good pet nutrition. ![]() Temple Aliyah USY received a Chapter of Excellence Award for the fourth consecutive year from the Pacific Southwest Region of United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism. |
