Black Crime Rates in the Spotlight

It has now been revealed that the dirt-bag who apparently took the life of 17-year-old Lily Burke is a 50-year-old transient man, someone who had many previous run-ins with the law.  As someone who has a two young daughters, one the exact age of Burke, this hit close to home – as it did for many parents across the country.  After media coverage made no reference to the race of the alleged killer, pictures of the suspect revealed that Charles Samuel is a black man.

As I write this, the nation’s president is about to sit down with Henry Louis Gates and Sergeant James Crowley to have a few beers and chat about the recent arrest of Gates by Crowley.  Obama had suggested that Crowley’s actions in arresting Gates represented the stupidity of the Cambridge, Massachusetts police department and dredged up the specter of racial profiling – something subsequently revealed to have had nothing to do with the arrest of Gates as a “disorderly person.”

The incident at Gates’ home in Cambridge, and resultant intervention by a sitting U.S. President in what was essentially a localized police matter has ignited a national political firestorm.  Mainstream media have endlessly covered the events (often badly), political bloggers have been all over the issues like a cheap suit, and race hustlers from coast to coast have emerged from the woodwork to claim that the arrest of a high profile black academic is proof positive that racism is still society’s number one problem.

Okay, that’s what race hustlers do – but while they opportunistically seek political advantage and work the old terrain of white liberal racial guilt, the real issues underlying the mythology of so-called “racial profiling”—-something that was re-surfaced by the president’s comments—-ignores the larger question of why black men in this nation are “disproportionately” housed in our prisons and jails. 

While Obama speaks either in an ill-informed or ideological way about “disproportionate” treatment of blacks in the nation’s criminal justice system, statistics do not lie.  Young black men (between the ages of 18 and 24) commit murder at ten times the rate of whites and Latinos.  Based on this disproportionate level of violent criminal behavior, police are stopping and arresting more black male suspects based on actual rates of criminality, not whim and caprice.  To blame police for arresting high numbers of black suspects is unfair and could be characterized as blaming the messengers for the unpleasant news that they have no choice but to impart.

Thanks to aggressive police actions, homicide is down in the City of Los Angeles, as it is in many major cities across the nation.  But as an indication of the disproportionate level of black crime, in 2003—-39 percent of the city’s 505 homicide victims were black, and 36 percent of the murder suspects arrested for all of the city’s murder were also black. This is in contrast to the fact that only 11 percent of the city’s population is black.  According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 94 percent of all blacks killed nationally between 1976 and 1999 were killed by other blacks.

So, when the president sits down with Sergeant Crowley and Professor Gates and perhaps engages in a lecture about unfair treatment of blacks by the criminal justice system, and the injustice of “racial profiling” let’s hope the Sergeant stops him short.  I expect that he will recite the stats on black crime that might adjust his attitude – unless the President really does have an agenda that encompasses many of the mythologies of the past.

Your article is shockingly racist. I stumbled across it and wow, shame on you. If you dug deeper you might find out that one of the reasons there are more black men in prisons than white is because good legal representation costs money and this so called ‘free’ society of ours has held back the African Americans for oh, hundreds of years? And this is the Jewish Journal? Correct me if I’m wrong but if there’s anyone who should understand how damaging profiling is, it’s the Jews. Right?

Info in the article correct—not racist.  Some of us cannot admit there is a serious crime problem in their racial/ethnic community.  If the problem is not acknowledged the situation will stay the same or get worse.  To shoot the messenger and point the finger of racism only reveals an unwillingness to deal with the real world.  Perhaps that is the worst problem of all.

Yeah right, that’s just what I am, unwilling to deal with the real world. Wow, I’l tell that to all my fellow corrections officers. I stand by what I said, article is racist and so is a huge part of this country. If you can’t see that then YOU are the one with the ‘unwillingness to see the world’.  I won’t post here anymore, I can see what this site is all about and it’s disturbing.

Well, Jennifer, as a police officer who does work the streets of LA, and in fact works in Skid Row, I see that it is you who does not have a grasp on reality.  Listen to the radio broadcasts of any LAPD division in the metropolitan part of LA.  The majority of the suspect descriptions start out “male black.”  This isn’t made up.  This is what’s being reported by the victims.  Even though downtown LA has been “gentrified,” the majority of the crimes committed downtown are by male blacks.  What I’m talking of is before we even get to the trial process, thus adequate legal representation is not a factor.  You being a corrections officer is not indicative of your knowledge of what’s happening on the streets of LA and who’s repsonsible for the majority of the street crime.  I realize that my experience and views may be slightly skewed by the level of street crime in skid row.  But the fact is, this is reality.  I see it everyday, and sadly, Lily Burk had to experience it.

Everyone is racist. To deny this is why we will never get beyond this social problem. Everyone has their own personal view point and perspective. If you are a correctional officer and all you deal with everyday is scum bags that are of one race, you have every right based on your perspective to form an opinion. Is this opinion inaccurate? Most likely it is not,  but to think that this is a perfect world and call other people names is a bit immature Jennifer. You spout out what you think is fact, because somewhere you heard or read that blacks are incarcerated merely because of representation. That is only part of the problem. What about statistics where many of black children grow up in broken homes? What about the fact that there is so much violence on television and movies that influence young adults to act out. What about the role models or lack of role models that are sports figures? What about the attitudes of all races when they are jurors? I could go on and on, but really Jennifer you can live in your judgmental universe and think you are superior, and claim you don’t have prejudice or bias, but we all know humans are much more complex, and are nowhere close to perfect. Try putting yourself in the writers perspective. Forums like this give you a chance to see his thoughts through his eyes and only then can you begin to understand how the world really is to him. We all need to do the same with you, and right or wrong your perspective is valid based on your life experiences.

Unfortunately, the Jennifer’s of the world, while possibly well-intentioned, are enablers of black crime and criminal behavior. It provides an excuse for uncivilized behavior and clouds any discussion of the real reason why blacks fill prisons and fail in school - from genetically lower IQs to differences in ability to reason and think to limited impulse control. Once these non-PC reasons are raised the messenger is shot down in a barrage of racist accusations. What more will it take see the obvious and put an end to the tragedies like that of Lily Burke.

Joe Hicks presents some interesting statistics that fully justify why all black males should be assumed to be dangerous and racial profiling is in the societal good. I noticed from his picture above that Joe Hicks is a black male…and this scares me…so for the good of all of us, I’m hoping and praying that Joe Hicks is regularly harassed by the police (because he is a black male), arrested as often as possible (because he is a black male) and convicted whether he’s guilty or innocent (because he is a bald black male). I’m hoping Colin Powell and Barack Obama are treated the same…they too are black males. If we just get ALL BLACK MALES (particularly ones with shaved heads like Joe Hicks) off the streets…and hopefully sent away for life if not death…we’ll all be safe. And then guys like Timothy McVeigh can do what they need to do.

And for anyone who doesn’t get that my tongue is planted firmly in cheek, I totally agree with what L says above—-Who cares what Joe Hicks thinks?

Look at it from another POV: Women are more likely, statistically, to take a leave of absence from work to start a family. Is is right to discriminate against women during the hiring process based on this statistical evidence…I sure hope not. Also, it is painfully obvious that stereotyping occurs in our society and its a shame. What’s the first thing you think when you see a 20-3o year old black man wearing baggy pants, a big white T-shirt, and jewlery. “He’s a gangster/drug dealer/criminal” or “Look at him! He’s got swag!”? As a young white woman with a black boyfriend, I know that people of all colors still face discrimination, but in the end everyone is responsible for there own decisions. Last thing: To Chris the police officer in LA, I hope you are not suspect of the black man than of the white boy. Drugs are a major cause of violence in LA and guess who buys them…

I commend Mr. Hicks for not giving into political correctness and somehow place the blame on whites for black criminality.

To sit here and take up for criminals in this manner tells me one thing - you have obviously never had much interaction with blacks on a daily basis. As a Jew, growing up in a part of the country where the majority of the population is black is no less than a harrowing experience. I won’t go into very much detail and turn this into an essay, but it’s amazing how brainwashed all ethnicities of whites have become due to a little mythically based perception known as white guilt. Experience is a mighty unforgiving teacher, ladies and gentlemen.

You want to see racial hatred? Try being white in a mostly black environment. Try being harassed, often violently, almost every single day of your life. Try getting turned down for a myriad of good jobs because, and they’ll tell you this, because you’re white. Try having racial epithets shouted in your face every time you go out, and no one is there to do anything about it; cops will laugh at you. You go to school, just to learn what terrible, evil villains all whites and Jews are and how wonderful, inventive, intelligent those blacks are when everything around you every day tells you the complete opposite. You work your butt off your entire life to make a decent living and save enough money to live in a relatively safe suburb, only to see it overrun with criminal blacks within a couple years thanks to our oh-so-liberal government that hands them everything on a silver platter.

Over 50% of the homicides in the US are the fault of black males between the ages of 18-25. Do you realize what that statistic says? Blacks make up 13% of the population, so black males are approximately 12.5%. Let’s just say, hypothetically, that those aged 18-25 are 6%. That means that 6% of the US population commits over 50% of the murders. Over 100 white women are raped daily at the hand of black males, while less than 10 black females are raped annually at the hand of white males.

Heartland brings up an excellent point in regards to IQ. You can say all you want about how IQ tests are culturally biased and that’s why blacks do so badly, but I want you to prove to me how they are biased. If these tests are so racist in favor of white males, why do Ashkenazic Jews from varied backgrounds score an entire standard deviation above other whites? Why do Asians score the same; sometimes even higher? Why do Hispanics score higher than blacks, as well?

You know why people stereotype blacks so often? Because they so often live up to the stereotypes. Sure, there are exceptions, but they’re very few and far between. And you know what? I don’t judge them based on their skin color; that’s retarded. I judge people based on their character, words and actions. If we truly judged them based on their content and character, they’d be BEGGING us to judge them based on the color of their skin.

I am so sick and tired of all the lily white liberals telling me how wonderful “diversity” (meaning blacks only) when they themselves live in huge white mansions in the middle of whiteyville. Why don’t you try hanging around your precious little black minorities for a few years and tell us how you really feel? Why don’t I drop you off in the middle of Compton so you can make a few new friends?

Sorry, liberals; not pulling the wool over my eyes. You’re trying to tell me that what I’ve seen the majority of my life never happened, when I can easily contrast it with the behavior of whites and other minorities (namely Asians and Indians) who were in the very same financial and social conditions that the blacks were in?

Ever since the 70s, the blacks have been nothing but pandered to. But you know what? No amount of taxpayer money is going to fix anything. You can not change their behavior and depravity by throwing cash at the problem. They have the opposite of the Midas touch; everything they come into contact with turns to…well, yea.

White Gentiles, Jews and everyone else need to have an in-depth discussion about race. And no, it can’t just be the blacks whining the entire time about a bunch of imagined discrimination. It must be a two-way conversation, and it must be productive; not just agree to a bunch more money being thrown down the pit.

Every now and then, people have to take responsibility for their own actions. I know such isn’t the mentality du jour in modern times, but it must be done.

There’s only so far that race card goes.

The Michael Weiner-Savage and Rush Limbaugh Dittohead who killed 5 people in a Unitarian church in Tennessee was white; the Glen Beck follower who actually believed the lies Glen Beck spews that “Obama is going to take away your guns!” gunned down 3 police officers in Pennsylvania ( after listening to Glen Beck the biggest liar and fear-mongering pundit with a screw loose on CNN and in talk radio (besides Rush and Sean and O’Reilly) was white; the murderer of Doctor Tiller in Kansas at a church was white; Timothy McVeigh (a Rush Limbaugh Dittohead for years) who blew up the Oklahoma State building was white. 

The skinheads that killed countless youths, including Matthew Shepherd were white.  Not all Republicans are racists, but every racist is a Republican, and cannot be a Christian. In fact, I do not recognize any of Christ’s values in the Republican party today or in the Jewish Journal which has aligned itself with the most evil of today’s political points of view, including extermination speaker Ann Coulter.

This Wallenberg character is a disgrace to human kind, the brightest you said was “I judge people based on their character, words and actions.” Everything else was gibberish, black people commit crimes yes they do but who control the stats? who supply the information that everyone above is stating! The government they can tweak the stats however they please. Unless one of you are going to get up and take a survey, or do whatever is necessary to get some REAL facts on black men who are incarcerated for a crime and those who are accused fro committing a crime (TWO DIFFERENT THINGS) then don’t comment or quote it. This racial profiling thing is going to go on for forever, working in retail and going to school for law and gender studies has help me getter a better outlook on how different races interact and treat one another. There are most definitely ignorant black folk out here and likewise for whites and hispanic etc… I’ve been called a poor little black girl by a spanish woman and a white woman I’ve even been told by a black woman married to a black man “I’m glad I don’t have to work for a living” EVERYONE IS A RACIST IN SOME WAY FORM OR FASHION… but it’s not all a black and white thing, its not that simple. I’m only 20yrs I haven’t experienced much.As female i deal with the derogatory comments and the grabbing of the arm from men of all races and black men and Hispanic mainly but it doesn’t stop me from associating myself with them. People are going to do what they want regardless of what race color or creed, that doesn’t mean you should skin up your face at everyone not knowing who they are. Everyone who isnt afriad to open their eyes and see this reality knows what horrid people blacks are. I see how they are because Ive lived around them for years.

When i was 20 I had one pull a knife on my in a store while we were standing in line. It was crazy, she threatened my life after i responded to a rude comment she made to me.

My parents never raised me to hate anyone, that came from experience. Thankfully,my school years were pretty much non-black, but it hit me like a frieght train in my adult years. You cant go anywhere nowadays and not having them wandering around aimlessly, loitering,begging for money, harrassing any female that walks by then insulting them if theyre ignored,violently attacking humans. The women are filthy, ugly and mean. The men are stupid,violent,rude and disrespectful.

These things have no moral code, no structure, no responsibilities, no family values,violent trouble makers. everyone talks about “fixing” the problem, but its not fixable when you dont have a full human mental capacity to work with.

Look at the comment above me by Livana,who claims to be white, but its CLEAR via the many mispellings and problems with grammar that shes not. “i hope the taliban kick your ass” Aside from that being grammatically incorrect, that shows their inner violent nature. they are not capable of having intelligent discussions or taking responsibilities for themselves, they just attack with insults and threats, and if it was in person, she would probably pull a knife on you.

This is the ugly truth. and they ARE ALL talking about how they are planning race riots and exterminating the white race (look at recent pictures of africa, and see how the world would look if that were to happen). And these things arent smart or organized enough to know the difference between a white/asian/indian/latino/jew/ect so this is a war against ALL non-blacks, started by them because theyre too stupid to be able to live a happy peaceful productive life.
