Big day in New York City today. For the first time, the city clerk was giving certificates of marriage to gay couples. It’s official. And like with California and other states, the world has not come to an end. Maybe in October? In the meantime, there was plenty of protesting in NYC today. The Christian Post has this story:
Though I am a follower of the same great law that predates New York’s, I take issue with Pastor Gillison expecting a secular government to track along God’s law. Further, a vote isn’t as easy in New York as, say, California. There, a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage can only get on the ballot if a majority of either house of the State Assembly vote to have it there. And based on the assembly’s recent passage of the Marriage Equality Act, that seems unlikely any time soon. |
