Undie Run: What have we done?

Posted by Brad A. Greenberg

That is a photo from LAist of last night’s Undie Run at UCLA. It’s been a “tradition” for Bruins to drop down to their drawers and jog off studying at midnight the Wednesday of finals week since spring 2002. And, as my wife just noted, this giant display of debauchery was, gulp, started by a few Christians.

hah! don’t breed intolerance of other religions. As a jewish student of UCLA, I must inform you that the person largely credited with spaning the undie run was a jewish student.

Daniel, you are incorrect. If you are referring to me as a Jewish student, I would not dispute that, but others would. If you are referred to another Jewish student at UCLA, I can assure you they were not involved until at least fall 2003.

The written record—in the Daily Bruin and UCLA Magazine and the LA Times—identifies Eric Whitehead, my college roommate of two years, as the creator of Undie Run. Our circle of friends comprised the co-conspirators.

If you would like the names of the original 13 participants from spring 2002, I am happy to provide a list.
