The intersection of religion and politics

Posted by Brad A. Greenberg

I just stumbled across this image from the the 2003 issue of Heeb  magazine, the one with the Beastie Boys on the cover. Here’s my question: Are religion and politics more or less intertwined today than they were four years ago?

They are precisely the same thing.  We expect good of our leaders, spiritual or gov’t. Do we get what we expect? Did ANY God STOP 9/11? Was more than 1 god involved? Appolo’s name was attached to moon rockets because it sounded cool, right? Doctors swear oaths to him & his son because they’re idiots, huh? Our Gods are warring here through us: kaboom! How many times have you seen a planet blow up in the last 10yrs (movies,TV)? Ya wanna fathom?: http://www.PoliticsOfGods.com  The Gods &priests; know but only give us make-beliefs. KNOW!  It’s easy:  http://www.PoliticsOfGods.com  & free your mind, Neo(phyte).

Wow… Billy Shears makes a point that cannot be understood; then directs us to a website that cannot be read clearly (nor understood), yet it says that “The Reason is Treason”.  What is the “reason” for the childish, opaque website?  If he, or that site, are examples of a “free mind” then I’m a proud opposite.

Anyway, to the question - they are more intertwined today than at any other point simply because the people of America are different.  In the early days the people really believed in the principles of America.  But today, they don’t.  The principles are nothing more than talking points in support of a superior nation that looks nothing like the principles they tout.

The American Christian majority has been used politically for decades.  Actually, the Republican Party would not exist without them.  But having a Christian majority does not make America a Christian nation according to its own principles.

Then you have the Atheist and the other “anti-God” organizations and groups.  They too are nothing more than a religion that attempts to influence politics in their favor.  They usually target Democrats (though in all fairness, majority of Democratic voters do not share their views).

And at the heart of it all is a nation full of people who cannot think outside of their own, personal, little boxes.  And it will get worse until they realize that some things (rights, schools, books, laws, etc.) in any multi-cultured society must be for ALL people regardless of race or religion.
