Sarah Silverman says Obama is ‘circum-supersized’

Posted by Brad A. Greenberg

Move over Obama Girl. Sarah Silverman is single and, from the descriptions she provides in this video, she more than just a big fan of Barack Obama.

I saw this video Monday night at the home of David Nevins, an executive producer of “Arrested Development” who gave me hope that the movie is still going to happen. This video was created to promote The Great Schlep, a mass journey this October of Gen-Y Jews to their bubbes’ condos in Florida.

The Schlep is a product of JewsVote.org, and it’s aimed at using the same circles of trust to combat rumors and myths about Obama that have spread so viciously. They hope, though, that this video has the same viral effect as the Obama’s-a-Muslim e-mail.

The video has potential. Most of it is new material, though you’ll recognize her comparisons between young black men and Jewish grandparents from a bit she did on Leno last year. Best line about Obama has got to be that he is “circum-supersized.” But let me offer this disclaimer: Sarah Silverman has a foul mouth, and her jokes in this video are no exception. So don’t say I didn’t warn ya ...

It should be no surprise that Silverman is supporting Obama. After all, Matt Damon can’t stand Sarah Palin, and we know what Sarah Silverman’s doing to Matt Damon.

“I was wondering what I could do to help; anybody who likes me is voting for Obama, probably,” Silverman told me. “But this was a brilliant idea—it wasn’t mine—and I’m glad they came to me.”

“I’m terrified,” she added. “I work on the road and I see that it is not all for Obama.”

I work in Los Angeles and see that. That much is true in New York, too.

If you didn’t already know the nugget about “Arrested Development,” I recommend following me on Twitter.

I just love Sarah Silverman, and once again, in this video, she uses intelligence and insight—dressed in over-the-top language—to deliver an important message.

Sarah Palin Silverman is adorable and talented but she is so smart that she is inherently untrustworthy. I personally have trouble taking her seriously, as I hear everything she says as a possible put-on. I feel that using her for Obama will backfire for that reason. That certainly happened in the case of Sarah Palin Bernhardt being overtly offensive in her uniquely creepy way.

Oh well, at least we got the “I work on the road and I see that it is not all for Obama” out of this.

Regardless of just how effective this, and it very well may be with young Jews, the video is pretty hilarious and was funnier the second time I watch it.

I love Sarah but just wanted to point out that Baruch does not mean “lightning” but “blessed.”  If you don’t believe me, check out this wonderful article by David Scheim in the Washington Post (August 28):

It’s well researched, with enough facts about Obama’s name to impress grandparents of other faiths as well!

It is most likely she is thinking about what that article says; “Despite their similar sounds, Barack has a different linguistic root than Barak, the last name of former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, which means “lightning” in Hebrew.”

But even though you (and Obama) are correct about the equivalence of Barack and Baruch, it is not that far fetched, as buraq means lightning in Arabic. Buraq is the name given to Mohammed’s miraculous steed that carried him on his night journey

“I was brought by the Buraq, which is an animal white and long, larger than a donkey but smaller than a mule, who would place its hoof at a distance equal to the range of vision.”

It had wings, a peacocks tail, and the face of a woman. I remember once… never mind. Buraq is the name of the national airline of Libya and Bouraq the airline of Indonesia after this creature.

The Moslems covered the Western Wall of the Jews with crummy slums and and hid it behind a garbage dump for centuries. When British archeologists uncovered the Wall and called it what it was, original Herodian construction, the Arabs attempted to deJudaize the place by suddenly realizing that Mohammed had tethered the wondrous Al-Buraq there on his Journey and renamed it the Buraq Wall. (Ben Gurion got that sh!t removed right quick.) This parallels the tale of the Night Journey itself which had nothing to do with Jerusalem but was attributed to it by Omar who was trying to set up a pilgramge center to compete with Mecca and built the unsuccessful Al Aqsa Mosque to promote it. These only came into prominence when Israel became worth stealing again by Jewish investment.

Best for Israel? Obama wants to rush withdrawal from Iraq thereby destabilizing the region… not good for Israel.

Supports Israel? When asked in the Tues Debate whether he had Israel’s back if Iran attacks. He hedged and talked “diplomacy”. Iran’s attacking and he’s wanting a sit down (yet he’s more than happy to jump into Pakistan or as muslims and Obama pronounce it /pock ee stawn/)... not good for Israel.

Nana and Brother similar? Moot point. Obama ain’t Black, and he ain’t no Brother. He is an African-not Black-American, and he’s barely American… He spent the first 10 years in Indonesia (that region being a terrorist hotbed). Born to a muslim father, raised by a muslim step-father, son to an agnostic mother. He spent his teenage years in the oasitic land of Hawaii. This ain’t no Brother from Chicago. When it comes to Americana, this bloke is a foreign pretender… not good for Israel.

Not muslim? He attended muslim & catholic schools in Indonesia. May not be muslim, but raised is muslim/agnostic household, and was educated in the ways of the muslim. And the qur’an and some christian sects label Jews as “christ-killers”... not good for Israel.

Radical Fundamentalist regime? He associated, supported, was supported in return, worked with and for a known unrepenting former domestic terrorist. He attended and a member of a church with radical christian rhetoric teetering on the edge of bigoted and self-righteous… both not good for Israel.

Do the research, and not just the rhetoric… Obama is fishy. At minimum, Obama is a pretender… not good for Israel.

Sarah Silverman doesn’t care about Israel. I heard her with a pseudo-comedy sarcastic routine wailing and moaning about Israel’s situation.

Incorrect.

The JewishJournal was proud to co-sponsor a benefit concert she did for the Arava Institute in Israel.

(It was the quotes)
That’s just super. The Arava Institute which I am sure does very fine and necessary work, is not a Zionist institution. It is established as a regional and global one spcecifically involving as much Arab/Jewish interaction as possible. Not only with Arabs residents of Israel but importing them from foreign enemy entities. I feel comfortable in promising you that not only do Arabs not contribute one penny to this enterprise but these programs increase the Arab feelings of physical and political entitlement to the land of Israel.

I suppose we have to take a step backwards and define what we mean by ‘care’, and ‘Israel’. To me ‘care’ means foremost supporting the safety of Israel. By Israel I mean the Jewish State, not a state in which Jews can hopefully be allowed to live by laying low, relinquishing Jewish rights and begging and kissing enough regional and global rear ends.

Ehud Olmert just famously expressed this in his pre Rosh Hashana interview. He says it is necessary to give this, trade that, blah blah blah. Because “A decision has to be made,” he said. “This decision is difficult, terrible, a decision that contradicts our natural instincts, our innermost desires, our collective memories, the prayers of the Jewish people for 2,000 years.” Sarah Siverman obviously feels the same way. Imagine! You can know nothing about Judaism, commit nothing to God, Torah and Israel, violate every Jewish practice, be a public mean spirited potty mouth and still be a good Jew. Whatta deal!

how can she support a man that will not reveal his birth certificate, who worked for acorn (the organization that started the whole wall street crash with their loans to people that knownly could not pay them), is associated with the main three Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac head guys, that did seminars with a known terroist, spent 20 years in a church with a pastor who hates America, is a man that will not put his hand on his heart for the National Anthem or wear a flag lapel pin, and will move out of Iraq, give it to Iran and kiss Israel good bye. You are a Jew by birth only.

Dee, apparently, believes everything he reads in e-mail. So, Dee, is your penis 143% bigger now after buying those pills?

Comment by The Web Guy on 10/15/08 at 12:47 am

Stylistically I know what you mean but what of what Dee said do you specifically think is erroneous? For this purpose let’s not waste our time with the birth certificate and the anthem and the lapel pin.
