Morning humor from the DMN religion blog:
In what’s become an annual tradition (or, if you prefer, joke) televangelist Pat Robertson revealed his predictions for 2008—or, more accurately, he let the rest of us in on what he says God has told him will happen.
Here‘s the story from the Associated Press.
According to Robertson, God has economic disaster in store for us: A deep recession, $150-a-barrel oil, a tumbling dollar. All of this will lead to a major stock market crash in 2009 or ‘10.It’s worth noting that Robertson’s past predictions have often been wrong.
As for the 2008 presidential race, in which Robertson endorsed Rudy Giuliani, the televangelist was silent on who will win.

Commenting on Jan 4 news: Whatever Robertson predicted in Jan came true in September - economic disaster. His prediction is right on money but a few months earlier before 2009. The slide of Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Washing Mutual… and now government’s $700 billion bailout all are in line with the prediction. Great job!
What we need of course is a period of stability, with bad debt being written off, and Interbank rates settling down. Working capital needs to be found, with wealthy companies called Sovereign funds helping - at a price.
As a background to all this, it must be said that the last 15 years have been quite amazing with low interest rates and high growth. This ‘Goldilocks’ period is ending, with growth down and inflation up. This brings to mind the dreaded word stagflation, and this is perhaps worse than recession.
You have done a lot of people a big favor. I don’t know what motivates you but don’t stop now.
Thanks a million
Anytime Robertson makes prediction, responsible news networks should run below a disclaimer which shows all of his wacky past predictions that have not come true. The man is borderline insane.
