Muslim dating service on JewishJournal.com

From my perspective, this world would be a lot better off if we all learned a lot more about each other’s religious beliefs. That’s a reason I got into religion reporting and it was a case I made for keeping The God Blog universal when I brought it over from the LA Daily News. Occasionally, though, cynics, who like to call this paper the “Jewish” Journal, complain when posts focus on religions of the goyim, specifically Christianity.

I can only imagine the kick they are getting out of the advertisement I just found below the “Popular Posts” box.  (Five minutes after I posted the rotating ad changed to a bar and bat mitzvah package.) I have no idea how this ad, for Muslima.com, was secured. It may just have been a blip because of a spike in traffic from this post.

The site in question is an online Muslim dating service a la eHarmony and JDate.

on point, traditional Muslims with no ax to grind generally feel confortable in and around Jewish neighborhoods, which have ertain shared social values with them. It is common to see Muslims in ethnic garb, Halal stores etc. adjacent to Orthodox Jewish ones.

Incidentally, Re: the link including the ‘Rabbi Kreiger’ comment, I had the same reaction on arriving here. While your ‘About’ message seems clear that’s not the first place I look; it would be less confusing yet if you had a one-liner mission statement at bottom of the logo indicating the big-tent nature of the blog. The capitalized term ‘God’ seems be a proper name, to specifically imply the one and only original Bible-based monotheistic god. If any old god or gods as the case may or may not be, or belief systems such as paganism, pantheism, panentheism, wiccan, santeria etc. are equally implied, it could be indicated as “The god Blog”, or “The ‘god’ Blog”

In a related point, you seem to be trying to have it both ways. While the term ‘goyim’ is technically inoffensive and a useful shorthand for Hebrew/Yiddish speakers, it seems to be resented by most goyim and has never achieved the neutral acceptance as cute of such terms as
‘kibbitz’, ‘nosh’, ‘tchatchke’, ‘klutz’, ‘kvetch’,
‘shmooze’, ‘shtick’, ‘shlep’ and the like. So I don’t stand on principle and try not to use it where it will be taken the wrong way as it seems to be in every public forum.

Maybe its just a way that we ourselves must know that we have a lot to learn yet from our brothers belief, in terms of religion. But public post such as this may get things a little bit out of hand as we know that this is not actually being done by our Muslim brothers.

I dont think that this is going to work, i mean this violates the sacred beliefs of our brothers.
