Lynched effigy of Obama even uglier

Posted by Brad A. Greenberg

The hanged effigy of Sarah Palin was offensive, but the effigy hanging from Linda Castaneda’s balcony was Redondo Beach is downright disgusting.

I’m not sure how well-versed Castaneda is in American history, but until not that long ago, lynching black men was a socially acceptable, though morally reprehensible, action. In fact, you don’t need to know much about history: The ATF announced this week that it had arrested to young skinheads who planned to decapitate 14 African Americans and assassinate Barack Obama.

But there an effigy of Obama was, hanging from Castaneda’s home with a meat clever through his neck, a jacket covered in blood and a sign on his chest that read “Nobama.”

Not surprisingly, a bloody UCLA sweatshirt hung next to the effigy and a McCain-Palin sign was posted in the yard.

The display, which Castaneda took down after inflaming tension and being visiting by Redondo authorities, was a few miles from my place, though I didn’t see it. I’m not making any assumptions about Castaneda’s beliefs—other than that she’s probably a Trojan fan. But her Halloween display was at best shockingly ignorant.

A Republican Trojan ... the dumbest of the dumb.  What’s truly frightening is that people this hateful and ignorant get to vote right along side the sane and well-informed.  That’s scarier to me than any Sarah Palin Halloween costume.

This woman is obviously an idiot and an extreme racist. I hope we never cross paths….

So, lynching Palin is ok, but Obama having an effigy getting hung and lynched is somehow not ok. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Actually Bill, I said the other day and again in this post that lynching Sarah Palin was also offensive. Not in poor taste—offensive. But the context here—i.e. Obama is black and Americans used to lynch black men with impunity—makes this display much more disgusting.

Hanging someone in effigy is an exercise in free speech-a first amendment right to speak one’s mind However, whoever hangs the “hanging” may be offending their neighbors and creating a moral offense.

Given our society, the “hanger” has to face the consequences:vandalism is a possibility, along with property damage.

since nothing is more hated by jew-democrats than a frum christian, hanging palin [effigy or in person] is a mitzva.  but hanging any non-republican or non-christian is proof of Klannish mindset…..nothing more closed minded than a Democrat…..

Why are we so sensitive???  We just have to look overseas and see a lot of foreigners express their anger by burning US or other western politician in effigy or by burning our flags or or allie’s flags???  So, what do we do?  Get mad if they hang Obama and burn him in effigy??? Over in the Middle East????  See how far and how much we can do over there.

This racist and inexcusable behavior is especially sad for “Darkness,” a Los Angeles-area Goth girl with 5-foot long black wings who was interviewed for Election 2008 - What White Women Want, a new investigation by Dolly Deadline at http://www.whatwhitewomenwant.com/

White women like Darkness are expected to play a crucial and possibly determining role in the election. Dolly explores this new media phenomenon by interviewing an ‘assortment’ from this group and inviting them to blog about their concerns and hopes for our troubled country.

Darkness, not surprisingly, is the “white woman of the day” on the popular blog and foretells of apocalypse and doom depending on how the election turns out.

I was waiting for this to happen as soon as some one hung Obama it was going to be a racist issue, thought it was all in the “Fun of Halloween” when they hung Palin and was burning McCain everyone needs to lighten up,
