John McCain still says he hasn’t settled on a campaign running mate, which I find really hard to believe. He’s had seven months to vet a good vice president and he’s still undecided? Only American voters waver for that long, and that’s because they weren’t actually paying attention to begin with.
Let’s hope McCain hasn’t been so clueless because word has it that, quite miraculously, he will end the suspense tomorrow. I’m not convinced Joe Lieberman is preparing his convention speech.
Any takers?

McCain doesn’t need to announce until just before the convention, just like Obama. He has more to gain by delaying the decision and fine-tune it to developments.
As some here know, my choice for nominee was Giuliani, and my choice for number two or ‘Plan B’ is Giuliani for the same reasons. Giukiani could make chopped herring out of Biden and even Obama if his handlers get sloppy. There is no more natural common man out there than Giuliani, if he can get his message past the media screen.
SCOOP!
Looks like he hasn’t been clueless. Governor Sarah Palin has been confirmed as VP candidate. She can reportedly outride, outshoot and outfish any man. A former news commentator, she can outtalk Obama and Biden. All that she lacks is a liquor store license. I’m not actually sure about that. But at least SOME die-hard Hillarites will be weighing their priorities.
Rachel Ray was reportedly unavailable.
Sarah Palin: exactly what Jews don’t want:
http://www.jewishjournal.com/articles/item/analysis_sarah_palin_and_the_jews_20080829/
Interesting analysis. I am very impressed by Palin’s record and presentation, and she is an inpired choice for McCain. Only two points stand out for me in Eshman’s analysis.
The lesser point is the one about being anti-abortion. I LIKE that she is anti-fetal-death (anti-abortion). The fact that non-Orthodox Jews are pro-death (pro-choice) is NOT BECAUSE THIS IS A JEWISH VALUE. It is because Jews are values-driven, and are misled that the choice issue represents the values of tolerance and freedom-loving. It does not. It comes at the expense of brushing the life issue under the rug. The two sides are apples and oranges, not talking the same language. Pro-life people are not anti-choice as a principle, and pro-choice people are not anti-life. It is only a question of definitions and priorities, and the obvious proper approach for those in doubt is to be on the conservative side. Some people have answers to these questions, but even if those are not accepted - If there is a conflict between a POSSIBLE murder and a POSSIBLE loss of a choice, then I don’t see a basis for doubt.
But the real problem I would have is the Buchanan issue. Buchanan is an unfortunately powerful and forceful intellect in the service of evil. He is a saurian anisemitic neoNazi Paleo-Conservative who comes off like the most radical fringe leftist when it comes to Jews/Israel/Zionism vs. Phonystine and the Phonystinians. If Palin is truly in support of his agenda then I would oppose her.
Fortunately, the Buchanan kerfuffle is taken out of context. Palin offered this statement in response to reportage on that topic: “As mayor of Wasilla, I am proud to welcome all presidential candidates to our city. This is true regardless of their party, or the latest odds of their winning. When presidential candidates visit our community, I am always happy to meet them. I’ll even put on their button when handed one as a polite gesture of respect. Though no reporter interviewed me for the Associated Press article on the recent visit by a presidential candidate, the article may have left your readers with the perception that I am endorsing this candidate, as opposed to welcoming his visit to Wasilla. As mayor, I will welcome all the candidates in Wasilla.”
Whew! I as a Jew am satisfied with that statement, and I am encouraged by the fact that Buchanan is terribly critical of McCain’s views and policies. The enemy of my enemy and so on.
