Buy a truck, get a free AK-47

Posted by Brad A. Greenberg

The report from CNN concerns a Missouri auto dealer who, following up on their promotion last year to get a free handgun with the purchase of any car, is now offering a voucher for a free AK-47 when you buy a new truck.

The CNN anchor doesn’t do a good job concealing her contempt for the auto dealer, who doesn’t mind admitting he’s a bit of a country bumpkin—“We’re country folks down here, we live down here, and we don’t want to become victims.”

The dealer’s motto is “God, guns, guts and American pickup trucks,” and when the anchor brings that up the conversation takes a religious turn. That’s when the interview gets interesting.

Thanks for sending it over, Mollie.

I don’t see what all the flap is about.  Certainly the state of Israel believes that there is a relationship between God and Guns.

The second amendment exists so that citizens can bear arms against a government that might otherwise enslave us.  Imagine a world where the only people who had firearms were the military.

I am not a gun owner, and am not interested in owning one.  But I think going after law abiding citizens who own guns is preposterous.

The real issue is fear and self esteem, and we have lots of fear, and not much self esteem thanks to the divisive policies of Reagan, Bush I and II.

If any of you think this is preposterous, I suggest you see the movie “Defiance.”  If all of the six million who perished in the holocaust had owned firearms, and felt comfortable using them, a lot more of us might be alive today, and Hitler might have thought twice about “the final solution.”

Carol Costello, the person playing a news anchor, might take a lesson from Walter Cronkite: A journalist’s job is to interview people—not argue with them.

Sadly, such is the state of tv journalism today.  Walter Cronkite would have a hard time sustaining or growing an audience today with his straight forward non-provocative, just-the-facts style.  I’m not sure he could get hired in tv news today…

This would have been a positive interview if the dealer had offered the choice of an abortion or a vasectomy with the truck.

What the CNN interviewer suffered from was the same patronizing elitism that caused Obama to express during the campaign “And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations” (Doh!)

You notice that she kept coming back to one question which was, ‘wouldn’t some people get upset with God and guns in the same phrase?’. When the dealer turned out not to be a redneck moron, all she could do was repeat herself.

1. Cronkite for sure couldn’t get hired at Fox News…at least I hope not!

2. CNN - Commie News Network

3. I love how the car dealer just turned the mush-head, commie-lib, talking-points-robot right on her head every time she tried to ‘get’ him. A real ‘Joe the Plumber’ moment for the MSM. Well done.

I would have followed up with his “Why? Do you have a problem with God?” with “What kind of issue would someone have with having God and guns in the same slogan?”

Had to come back for the Uncle Walt remarks above. He helped the antiwar movement in Vietnam and was working with the current antiwar groups before his death.  In his remarks receiving an award recently, he had this to say about his dream of One World govt.

“It seems to many of us that if we are to avoid the eventual catastrophic world conflict we must strengthen the United Nations as a first step toward a world government patterned after our own government with a legislature, executive and judiciary, and police to enforce its international laws and keep the peace.

To do that, of course, we Americans will have to yield up some of our sovereignty. That would be a bitter pill. It would take a lot of courage, a lot of faith in the new order.”  - Walter Cronkite

Uncle Walt can roast in Hell for all I care.

RE: “Defiance.“  Great Movie about a true story. I hope history does not repeat itself.

AWESOME.  A real Heartland American puts the New-York-liberal talking head in her place.  She looks like a complete jackass.  Hey CNN—how are you liking your ratings?  Bwaahahahaha.

Comment by Educated Redneck on 7/20/09 at 5:41 pm

“That was twenty years ago, err, thirty years ago.”

Bwahahahaha!

Say whatever you want, but if you sell pickup trucks in the heartland, you couldn’t buy any better advertising than to get in a verbal squabble with a CNN reporter.  Absolutely brilliant.

Isn’t it just like a “tv anchor” trying desperately to relate to a “normal” American living a real life.  She probably lives in a high rise w/a doorman and 24/7 security so she doesn’t have to mingle with “true” Americans.  I think this guy is great and did a terrific job!

Woah! Show me a car dealer offering abortions, vasectomies, AND guns, and I’ll be there!

Comment by Moira on 7/20/09 at 6:23 pm

what a coincidence, Carol Costello is also 47.

Comment by Proton Soup on 7/20/09 at 6:23 pm

Actually, while the Children of Israel were in the desert and had to go outside their camp daily to do their “business”, they carried spades with them to bury their excretions.
Wandering bands of hooligans (who later became Arabs!) used to attack these helpless people at their most vulnerable moments, and it became serious enough that Moses had to ask G-d what to do!
G-d, ever sensible and economical with His ideas mandated that the spade handle be made into a knife, and that pre-emptive action to defend oneself was eminently justified!
So yes, the car dealer is absolutely entitled to put together the words God and Guns, since the first rule is that G-d wants us to live for Him , not die for Him!

That auto dealer was hilarious.

CNN needs to keep normal thinking people like him off the air lest the American people begin to realize the radicals have taken over their televisions!!!

There are at least 22,309 restrictive gun laws in force. Of those, none have resulted in less criminal violence. In every case, violent crime increased after “gun control.”

England had the lowest violent crime rate on Earth, before gun controls. Now, with guns almost entirely banned, England is the most violent society on Earth.

The facts are quite clear. So clear that you can make a reasonably accurate estimate of the increase in violent crime after a given gun control law is enacted.

Fewer guns equal more crime. More guns equal less crime. So what’s wrong with an effective anti-crime program that incidentally sells a few more trucks?

Wow i am always impressed with the links and comments to articles from Jewish media outlets. If only the American Jewish voter were as informed and thoughtful as their middle eastern counterparts. Anyway i own an ak 47 and it doesn’t even come close to the power of some other hunting rifles. This women is clearly out of her realm of knowledge and bias beyond belief. What does god have to do with guns? What a stupid loaded bullcrap question. Don’t you think guns are dangerous yeah ms. cnn but they have killed fewer people than abortion now haven’t they.

The second ammendment was written because the founding fathers had been through an oppressive (England) government running them over. Remember, GOD, GUNS AND GUTS MADE AMERICA FREE! Got it?

Comment by John Lafferty on 7/28/09 at 11:22 pm

This Gentleman is RIGHT ON!! America was founded on God 1st. Go back and our problems would be over not government 1st !!
