Scientology searching for seekers

By Brad A. Greenberg

November 6, 2010 | 10:14 am

I was watching ESPN last night, and on came an arresting commercial. A somber narrator talking about The Search:

“Some travel the world in search of it. Most don’t even know what they are looking for. But we all feel it. ... That unexplainable emptiness—that can only be filled by one thing: the truth.”

Obviously, this was an ad from a Christian evangelism organization. It’s not? It’s from the Church of Scientology?

    Sheesh:

A judge was subjected to a tirade of abuse in his own courtroom yesterday as he jailed an Al Qaeda-inspired Muslim woman for attempting to assassinate an MP.

Islamist protesters harangued Mr Justice Cooke from the public gallery at the Old Bailey, shouting ‘Allahu... read on

I’ve mentioned before (two years ago, in fact) that the president campaign of 1800 was an ugly affair, and that in it Thomas Jefferson was cast as a godless man who would turn America into a new Gomorrah. Playing off all the talk about 2010 being the year of political attack ads,... read on

There are a lot of religion stories in the wake... read on

I felt like I was going to vomit at about 7:30 last night.

It’s been a tough year for this sports fan. The Dodgers are headed for court-ordered sale. The Chargers would be better off in receivership than in AJ Smith and Norv Turner’s hands. UCLA basketball was disappointing and... read on

  • White supremacists campaign for office in Inland Empire

    By Brad A. Greenberg

When “pro-white” candidates Bill Johnson and John Ubele ran for elected office, they at least pretended to be part of the mainstream. But it hasn’t always been that way. Who can forget Tom Metzger and W.A.R.?

Two candidates for minor office in the Inland Empire—my old journalism... read on

The election is tomorrow, and procrastination translates into me having to hand-deliver my absentee ballot. (Kind of defeats the purpose, no?) Anyway, there is a lot going on in these midterm elections. The battles for one of California’s U.S. Senate seats and the Governor’s Mansion,... read on
