It is remarkable that in a community that raised over $42 million for the United Jewish Fund (UJF) last year, Marc Ballon could not find any of The Federation's 30,000 supporters who applaud The Federation for its outstanding efforts ("Pumping Up the Bottom Line" Feb. 14).
I was fortunate to be among a small group of United Jewish Fund (UJF) campaign leaders who visited St. Petersburg, Russia and Vilnius, Lithuania to witness the work that is being done in both communities by the American Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI).
When Sanford Gage was asked to be general chair of the JewishFederation Council of Greater Los Angeles' United Jewish Fund, hewanted to know one thing: Could he make a difference?
