Veteran generals address day school students

“Judaism, the Jewish religion and the history of the Jewish people are steeped in values,” said retired Lt. Gen. David Fridovich, who also served in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret. Addressing a crowd of elementary and middle school students from Sinai Akiba Academy and Brawerman Elementary School, Fridovich explained how Jewish values helped him succeed in the armed forces.

Seventh grade students and faculty from Sinai Akiba School in Westwood filed into the Islamic Center in Los Angeles at noon on Friday May 7 for a lecture on Muslim culture and to observe an afternoon prayer session.

L.A. Receives Emergency Grant, Sinai Head Appointed, Composer Wins Soup Contest

Five communities, including Los Angeles, will split an $11 million emergency grant from the Jim Joseph Foundation for day school and Jewish camp tuition assistance over the next two years. The San Francisco-based foundation will begin paying money out immediately to Jewish federations in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston and its neighboring North Shore, and the greater Washington, D.C., area.
