Jared L. Loughner, who the police said was responsible for the shooting rampage outside a Tucson supermarket on Jan. 8, pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges that he tried to murder Representative Gabrielle Giffords and two of her aides. David Headly, 49, is scheduled to appear Thursday in a federal court in Chicago to change his plea from not guilty, according to news reports, citing a federal court notice.
Headly was arrested last October in Chicago as he attempted to flee to Pakistan.
