Stella Nadelman Krieger, an art collector and longtime manager of museum stores, died Nov. 21. She was 75 years old. Born in Los Angeles on March 5, 1938, she graduated from UCLA in 1960. With her husband Fred Krieger, Stella developed a passion for collecting.
Mark Lacter, a longtime L.A. business journalist, died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center after suffering a stroke on Nov. 13, his wife, Laura Levine, told LA Observed. He was 59. Lacter covered business in Southern California as an editor and reporter. A regular contributor to LA Observed, Los Angeles magazine and KPCC-FM’s “Morning Edition,” Lacter had previously worked as editor of the Los Angeles Business Journal and business editor for the L.A. Daily News.

Rebbetzin Miriam Adler-Huttler, a distinguished rabbinic figure in Los Angeles, died on Jan. 3. She was 78. A seventh-generation Jerusalemite and a descendant of the Zhvill and Lelov Chasidic dynasties, she was born Oct. 30, 1934, the only child of Grand Rabbi Elazar Adler and Rebbetzin Bilhah-BatSheva. Raised in Meah Shearim until the age of 9, Miriam and her mother left Palestine in July 1944 to join Rabbi Adler, who had established a congregation in the West Adams area after relocating to Los Angeles in 1938.

As bombs dropped over Germany, aerial photographer Arthur Oxenberg would lean out of a B-17 Flying Fortress with his camera to snap a photograph. His photos were a way the U.S. Army Air Forces could tell whether bombs hit their targets.
I called my 94-year-old father in Ohio on July 9. I told him how much I loved him, that he was the most wonderful father ever, that I would miss him, and that it was OK for him to let go.
