The Obama administration criticized Israel over the approval of a new housing project in eastern Jerusalem.

PM’s pressure reportedly tables talks on E. Jerusalem construction

Discussions on new construction in eastern Jerusalem have been postponed reportedly due to pressure from the Prime Minister's Office. The Jerusalem District Planning and Building Committee tabled its talks scheduled for this week on projects to build nearly 1,000 apartments in Har Homa and 600 in Pisgat Ze'ev until May 5, Haaretz reported.

Israel is preparing a package of gestures designed to revive the Mideast peace negotiations that have been frozen since work began on a contentious Jewish housing project at Har Homa in East Jerusalem two months ago.

I went to Israel last month as someone who is a supporter of the peace process; as someone who believes in exchange of land for peace; as someone who is dedicated to peace with security for Israel; and as someone disturbed by the construction at Har Homa and the opening of the Hasmonean tunnel.
