I saw singer/songwriter Ethan Johns at The Mint last night in Los Angeles. He has a deep, soulful voice, plays masterful guitar, and writes darkly poetic lyrics.

The Pod Hotel, Manhattan
Just got back from a quick weekend trip to New York City, what a fun town. I stayed at the adorable Pod Hotel which is super convenient. It's right on 51st Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Midtown Manhattan. The rooms are the size of a dorm, but it's clean, very reasonable and right in the middle of things. Check out Buttercup Bakery on 2nd Avenue nearby too!

Today I attended an advance screening of The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them directed by Ned Benson starring Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy. This introspective, somewhat unsettling film studies a married couple after a tragic event affects them, and how they each cope, separately and together. Nicely acted, a moving, heartfelt film.

There's a new ice cream and pie shop called Atticus across from Westside Pavilion on Pico and Westwood Blvd. in West Los Angeles. Yummy homemade tasting small pies and ice cream. Just had a soft opening recently so they will be getting more flavors soon. Delicious!

Last night I was invited to the Wrongchilde Record Release Show at Community in Los Angeles fronted by Mat Devine of the band Kill Hannah. It's a new project of Mr. Devine's and several other notable musicians of the alternative rock scene. Great music, impressive sound -- much luck to Mr. Devine and his fellow musicians!
