What do Israelis think about the US? ‎

A new poll by the Anti-Defamation League and the Begin Sadat Center at Bar Ilan University ‎asks Israelis about a range of issues, including US-Israel ties, Obama and Romney. ‎

Israelis view President Obama with increasing suspicion. Since 2009, the‏ ‏percentage of ‎Israelis who view him “positively” has dropped sharply from‏ 54 ‏to 32 percent, while the ‎percentage of Israelis who view him “very‏ ‏unfavorably” has risen from 14 to 23 percent.

That’s It For Egypt’s So-Called ‎Transition

The latest ploy by the Egyptian military to maintain its grip on power seems like an act of ‎desperation rather than the final piece in a series of set moves, writes Marc Lynch in Foreign ‎Policy.

Weeks before the SCAF’s scheduled handover of power, Egypt now finds itself with no ‎parliament, no constitution (or even a process for drafting one), and a divisive ‎presidential election with no hope of producing a legitimate, consensus-elected ‎leadership. Its judiciary has become a bad joke, with any pretence of political ‎independence from the military shattered beyond repair.
