Obama’s Jewish financiers

Jewish donors are moving away from their traditional support for Democratic presidential candidates, writes Lawrence Solomon in the Financial Post.

In 2012, the Jewish allegiance to Democrats and liberal causes will mostly remain unchanged. As for the Jewish allegiance to Obama, change is afoot. Many Jews have taken the measure of the man and found him wanting. Although many will continue to support him financially, if only modestly, much of the smart money is going elsewhere.

Those Stupid Arafat Conspiracy Theories

Omri Ceren of Commentary Magazine takes aim at recent claims that Israel poisoned late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat with Polonium.

This tripe is the worst anti-Israel conspiracy theory since the tourism-destroying Zionist attack sharks, and more’s the pity. I was really looking forward to following Newsweek’s suggestion that I “get smarter in 2012″ by watching Al Jazeera. Now it turns out the network would rather indulge in feverish conspiracy mongering than carry out junior high school arithmetic before running stories.

Reform Jews reach out to converts like never before

The Reform Movement is actively seeking converts to Judaism despite a long-standing Jewish tradition against proselytizing, writes Heidi Hall of The Tennessean

Two years ago, The Temple began using its A Taste of Judaism workshop, which draws up to 100 non-Jews annually to learn more about Christianity’s roots, as a gentle gateway to joining the congregation. Instead of just saying goodbye, leaders explained how to connect with conversion classes.
