Rabbi Eric H. Yoffie

Our special guest today is Rabbi Eric H. Yoffie, President Emeritus of the Union for Reform Judaism. Rabbi Yoffie, who led the URJ (America's largest Jewish organization) for 16 years, is a respected religious leader, public lecturer, and writer. His writings appear regularly in the Huffington Post, the Jerusalem Post and Haaretz. Raised in Worcester, MA, Yoffie was ordained at the Hebrew Union College in 1974, and served congregations in Lynbrook, NY, and Durham, NC, before joining the URJ in 1980.

This Week's Torah Portion- Parashat Bamidbar (Numbers 1:1-4:20)- is the first portion read from the book of Numbers. The Parasha features the story of an elaborate census of the tribes of Israel conducted by Moses in the desert and continues to discuss the priests' ceremonial duties.
