Iran Declares War Against the Jewish People

Iran’s vice president is not the only contemporary public figure to engage in anti-Semitic rhetoric, even if he is the most blatant, writes Alan Dershowitz in Algemeiner.

If the leaders of Iran are guilty of incitement against the Jewish people, as they plainly are, they have many coconspirators and facilitators.  In recent years these have included several prominent church leaders, such as Cardinal Glemp of Poland, Father Daniel Berrigan of the United States, Cardinal Rodriguez of Honduras, Bishop Tutu of South Africa and numerous others who have crossed the line from anti-Zionism to overt anti-Semitism.

Can the U.S. and Russia Agree on How to End Syria’s War?

Kofi Annan is chairing another conference on bringing resolution to the ongoing bloodshed in Syria, but, asks Tony Karon in Time, can Washington and Moscow set aside their own regional interests for long enough?

The Obama Administration was reportedly even planning to condition U.S. participation in the Geneva talks upon Russia endorsing the demand that President Bashar Assad step down — a position Moscow has vigorously rejected, insisting that it is not up to outside powers to dictate who rules Syria. Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that Russia would not permit “a replication of the Libyan scenario in Syria,” dismissing as “unrealistic” the Western demand that Assad stand down. Still, U.S. officials insist that the Geneva meeting set clear guidelines for Assad stepping down as part of a political transition.
