4th Annual Nat'l Dance Day Celebration : Join a House Freestyle Dance Flash Mob! July 27th - Grand Park, DTLA
I've started volunteering to teach high-risk/at-risk/foster youth DJing and production with a non-profit called We Are The Movement. I get to give back, educate youth and do what I absolutely love to do (DJ) - three of my favorite things! PLUS, I have co-created DJ curriculum from scratch that empowers the youth we engage with to use House music and dance culture as a healthy avenue for rehabilitation and positive rearing...
This July 27th is the 4th Annual National Dance day, being held at Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles...
And we are rallying all the lovers of house music (and Dance-enthusiasts!) together to participate in a House Freestyle Dance Flash Mob!
The entire day will be filled with dancers of all ages celebrating dance - fun, eh? See below for details! See you there!
4th Annual National Dance Day Celebration!
Saturday, July 27th - 12:45pm until 2:00pm | Partly Cloudy 79°F / 63°F | Grand Park DTLA
Our 4th Annual National Dance Day celebration is going to take us back to the start for The Movement, to create a HOUSE DANCE FLASH MOB! Back in July 2010, we helped with the effort to make National Dance Day an official day by submitting our footage to congress with a petition. We hosted a House dance mob at Father Serra park near Union station, which was so much fun! In 2011, we decided to try a family style event in the park, which was also lots of fun. Then in 2012, we celebrated by attending "So you think you can Dance's" event at at the Grand Park in DTLA.
This year, we can't wait to celebrate this important day by going back to our roots with another House Freestyle Flash Mob!
There's no choreography in HOUSE, so it's just a mob to show how the vibe of House can transform a space!
Each year DFF hosts two National Dance Day events, one in Los Angeles and one in Washington D.C. The foundation is very proud to partner with two of the country’s premier performing arts centers, the Music Center and the John F. Kennedy Center, to host official NDD events on the morning of July 27, 2013. At each event, dancers will lead the crowd in both routines, after which time the public is encouraged to participate in an array of dance-related activities. In Los Angeles, Dizzy Feet Foundation with So You Think You Can Dance and the Music Center will host festivities at Los Angeles’ beautiful new civic space, Grand Park, from 10:00AM PST to 2:00PM PST.
WE WILL MEET AT THE TOP STEPS AT 1:00 PM TO GET READY FOR OUR HOUSE DANCE MOB!
Get there as early as you like to enjoy the festivities for this huge NDD celebration! There will be performances, choreography and fun you can join in on!! We are going to have a HUGE Boombox and blast "I'll House You"- Jungle Brothers!!!
WE WILL BE STARTING OUR DANCE MOB AT 1:19PM.
The idea for The Movement came about on January 19th (1-19), so we are honoring our roots by starting at 1:19!
