Representatives from progressive Jewish organizations met with White House officials.

The 170 representatives came to the White House on July 29 for a policy briefing on issues including housing, health care and education. Members of the Jewish Social Justice Roundtable, an umbrella group of 21 nonprofit organizations, spoke with White House staff about a number of economic and social issues.

“To spend the day in conversation with some of our government’s top
leaders about the pressing issues facing our nation was an incredible
validation of the Jewish social justice movement,” Simon Greer,
the president and CEO of Progressive Jewish Alliance & Jewish Funds for
 Justice, told JTA.

“I was incredibly proud to see on display at the White House the
values that motivate Jews all over the country—a steadfast belief that
everyone deserves economic opportunity, access to quality health care and
healthy food, a safe, affordable place to live, and a quality public
education that enables them to have many choices in life.”

The Jewish Social Justice Roundtable promotes social justice as a core tenant of Judaism.
