I am a 33-year-old journalist in Karachi, Pakistan where I work as the city or metropolitan editor for The Express Tribune, a daily national newspaper in English affiliated with International Herald Tribune (http://tribune.com.pk). In 2008, I was placed at the Oakland Tribune and the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles on a Daniel Pearl editor fellowship. Since graduating in 2000, I have worked as an editor and reporter at the national English language daily Dawn (www.dawn.com), its monthly investigative magazine the Herald, as the English website editor for Urdu television channel SAMAA TV (samaa.tv), a writer for Pakistan’s first independent weekly The Friday Times (www.thefridaytimes.com) and as the city editor for national English language daily, Daily Times (www.dailytimes.com.pk).

I studied Math, Russian and German for my BA at McGill University, Montreal, Creative Writing at Concordia University, Montreal and wrote a postgraduate thesis on Pakistani Women Writers in English at the University of Melbourne, Australia. I live with my parents and we have two dogs, a Belgian Shepherd Sascha and German Shepherd Ilbu.
