Rabbi Avi Stewart has been appointed to the head clergy position at Orthodox congregation Westwood Kehilla on Santa Monica Boulevard. His installation ceremony took place Feb. 13 at Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel in Los Angeles. Stewart succeeds Rabbi Asher Brander, who had been rabbi at the congregation for 17 years. … Diana Stein Judovits has been named director of the American Technion Society’s (ATS) Western region. Judovits was hired on Feb. 4. ATS provides support to the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, which is located in Haifa. … Eric Greene has stepped down from his position as the Southern California regional director at Bend the Arc as of mid-January. David Levitus is serving as interim regional director of the organization, which aims to help create economic opportunity and promote social justice. … On Feb. 13, Los Angeles-based actor and former presidential speech writer Ben Stein (“Win Ben Stein’s Money”) was named one of two alumni of the year by the B’nai Brith Youth Organization (BBYO), receiving its Sam Beber Distinguished Alumnus Award. BBYO honored Stein, a Northern Region East: D.C. Council alumnus, during the organization’s international convention in Washington, D.C.
