For the Kids

A Loving Parent

When I read the Torah, I see two things: 1) God is a parent who loves and disciplines his children. 2)The people of Israel are loving children who constantly test God's boundaries: "I don't want this food. I'm too tired to walk. When will we get there?" If you read Parshat Ekev, you will see the story in action. God teaches the children of Israel to be patient, brave and to make good choices. If they do, they will be rewarded. It's like getting to have fun all summer, because we worked hard all year in school.
