Married to Medicine, like all reality shows about women, has polarized the fans into groups who support different teams. It is the nature of the beast, and in the interest of full discloser, I will tell you that I am on Team Mariah. I think she is fabulously entertaining, inherently kind, and this blog is about her and our conversation about the show, so know that love will be shown.
Married to Medicine is a show that was created by Mariah and she pitched it for almost 5 years before it was made. She was an accomplished news anchor and journalist who chose to change career paths, and transitioned into medical and pharmaceutical sales. She met her husband Aiden when he approached her at a restaurant in Atlanta. They are an interesting couple.
They are different faiths, but pray to one God, and are raising their children with the teachings of both. Aiden is a Muslim, and Mariah a Christian. Her views on faith align very closely to mine and I have respect for her views on religion. She does not judge, does not tolerate ignorance, and does worry about what ignorant people think.
Married to Medicine was to be a show about the sacrifices and challenges of women who are married to doctors, but it all took a turn when the fight happened at Aiden and Duncan’s birthday party. Mariah is mortified by what went down, but she owns it, and while she may do things differently given the chance, her emotions would be the same. Don’t mess with her kids.
Mariah was pushed to her breaking point when Toya crossed a line in terms of her daughter Lauren. Aiden raised Lauren from the time she was 1, and he is her father. While the little girl knew what adoption was, she did not know that Aiden was not her biological father. She does not watch the show, but other kids do, and this little girl was hurt by trashy Toya.
Toya is a wretched bitch in my opinion, and for her to purposely hurt a child is unfathomable to me. Mariah told me everyone knew, before shooting began, that she would talk about anything and everything, but the topic of Lauren was off limits. She and Aiden had a plan and schedule of how to share the news with their daughter and Toya opted to handle it.
The fight, while ill timed, was bound to happen and if it were me, there would have been a few teeth flying out of Toya’s mouth. Aiden was shocked by Mariah’s actions and held her accountable for her behavior, but also understood the reason it went there. It is a shame that this wonderful family will forever be remembered for this mess, not how loving they are.
It is interesting to me that the women in the group have all picked a side, and most are aligning with Toya. Considering that Mariah is essentially their boss, I would have maybe rethought their choices. Dr. Jackie tried to talk to Mariah, but really? She did not have all the information, and was already siding wtih Toya, so it made no sense for her to talk to Mariah.
Everyone is going out of their way to villainize Mariah and that is unfortunate. Even Quad, who is her best friend, invited Toya to the dog party, which I thought was inappropriate. She didn’t even make a donation. I wonder how this show will move on to season two when they can’t stand each other. This might be the quickest train wreck in reality history.
Mariah has regret about what happened, but believes that everything happens for a reason. She is rock solid with Aiden, learned who her friends are, and is helping Lauren understand her history and embracing it as a story of love, not a shameful secret. The show may not be what she thought it would be, but it is certainly a hit, insanely entertaining, and very popular.
Their lives look privileged, but we don’t know how hard it was to get there, or how hard it is to stay there. Mariah worked tirelessly to support her family during Aiden’s residency. She is still alone a lot of the time as he works in the ER. She blames herself for the turn the show took, but she feels confident that can all regroup and get back on track.
Mariah is very open to talk to. She is fun and funny, but clearly hurt by what has happened. She is a woman of integrity, and the fight will not change that. She is living her best life, being the best mom and wife she can be, and is proud of what she has accomplished. She has made things happen for herself and is happy with her family and their achievements.
In terms of Toya, they do not speak and that is fine with Mariah. Fine with me too. Toya has no character, no integrity, and no understanding of what the Holocaust is. This is one stupid woman and I feel sorry for her. I laugh when she talks about God and prayer as if that will somehow make her likeable. Praising God is great, but does not make you a decent person.
I asked Mariah to describe herself and she used the words honest, fabulous, and hard working. I would add sensitive, authentic, and hilarious. She is in her early thirties, but has lived many lives. She is savvy, street smart, and sophisticated. She came from humble beginnings and propels herself forward by remembering where she came from, and putting family first.
I like Mariah on the show and if I had not liked her in person, I would have said so, but I like her more now. She is a sweet girl, ferociously protective of her kids, loyal and supportive of her husband, tolerant and respectful of her mother, and cares about her friends. She is sad about how things been put out there for the world to see, but thinks she will redeem herself.
She is aware of the power of television, conscious that people look at her as a representative of women of color, and hopeful that people will look beyond the fight and see her true self. I am proud of Mariah and I really liked her. I’m not sure if she can change the audience opinion in the four remaining episodes, but like her or not, this chick is fabulous, and keeping it real.

Kari Wells is one of the stars of Married to Medicine and stands out for many reasons. She is the only white cast member, she is also a pretentious bitch who seems to have a sense of entitlement. In some scenes she looks like a transvestite. I don’t really get her and have been struggling to figure out exactly what she brings to the show in terms of her personality or ability to provide entertainment. Then we spoke.
I have spoken with a lot of reality stars and I always see them differently after we speak, but with Kari there is a profound difference in who we are seeing on the show and who she seems to be in real life. Kari was soft spoken, laughed easily, and her accent didn’t sound as fake as it does on TV. By the end of our chat I felt compassion for a woman who came to TV with good intentions, but is unlikeable.
Kari joined the cast thinking it would be a show about the sacrifices that women make when they are part of the medical community, whether doctors or married to doctors. If you watch Married tmo Medicine you know that medicine is the backdrop to a show about women who cannot fake their way through the fact that they tolerate each other, more than actually like each other. There are not a lot of authentic friendships happening.
Kari is not thrilled with how she is coming across, but is hopeful that it all comes out in the end. She knows she looks mean and bitchy, and while she has had bitchy moments, she is also kind and lovely. The reason she went on the show was to promote charities close to her heart, and talk about her desire to help women take care of themselves financially. She is surprised and saddened by the hate directed to her through social media.
Kari Wells is very funny, and the first to laugh at herself. When we spoke she was home with her daughter and called me directly, without a publicist. Nothing was off limits and she was open to talking about anything. Important to note that she did not block her number, which I think says a lot about her. I want to make it clear that should Duncan start getting calls in the middle of the night asking what he is wearing, it is not me.
Duncan is very supportive of his wife. There was a lot of controversy when following the big fight in their home, he told Kari that Aiden was going to divorce Mariah. Not good, but also not malicious. They did not know they were on camera, did not know Duncan’s mic was still on, and he was simply trying to support his wife, not hurt his friend and colleague. It was a bad choice of words, but in the end was an unfortunate situation.
Kari and Duncan have been married for 12 year and have a committed and loving marriage. They met in Aspen and he pursued her. He was separated at the time and she would not date him until he was divorced. They lived in different cities and one day, while at work, he faxed her his finalized divorce papers and invited her out for dinner, which I think is oddly romantic. They married, had two kids, and settled in Atlanta.
I asked Kari how she would describe herself and she said funny, different, and down to earth. She went on to say she is a kind person who likes to help others. She understands how she is viewed on the show and is hopeful a different and more authentic portrayal of her personality will come out before the season ends. There is a peace in her voice that it may not happen, but also hope that in the end people will like her.
When I wrote that Kari looked like a transvestite, she wrote me to say she thought I was funny and admired my strong voice. When I told her she was not one of my favorite women on the show, she said if she could bring attention to the charities she supports, it would not matter. To be clear, I am not really getting her on the show and don’t think she is particularly relatable, but I really liked her on the phone. It’s a shame.
Relationships between women are stressful and not always nice. We have all done and said things that we wish we didn’t, the difference is that it is not caught on film. She is a trooper for owning her behavior, but also smart enough to know that editing is not to blame for how she comes across. That said, to get 15 minutes of footage out of 15 hours of filming is hard, and things are often taken out of context and not explained properly.
I spoke with Kari about Toya’s Hitler reference in her blog and she thought it was stupid, but not meant to hurt anyone. She said Toya was a lovely woman who did not have malice in her heart. We can agree to disagree about that one. I think Toys is a moron and a spiteful bitch, but to each their own. In terms of Mariah, Kari is mortified and heartbroken by the turn their friendship took and hopes that it will be forgotten in time.
I think Kari Wells is a great businesswoman, a loving wife, a supportive mother, and a woman who went on TV for all the right reasons, but in the end is being tuned into a reality television train wreck. She is aware of how it works and while sad about some of it, happy with who she is, solid in her marriage, and secure as a woman. I found myself feeling bad for her that this is the legacy being created to show the world who she is.
We don’t know these women, and what we see is certainly real, but not the full picture. I may not like who she is on the show, but I can tell you I would want to be friends with Kari Wells. She is smart, funny, self-deprecating, sarcastic, open, and able to own who she is. This woman is ballsy, and I think that is so important for a woman. She has a great things to share with women and I hope people can look beyond the show to hear it.
It will be interesting to see who is invited back for season two. I am on team Mariah, but I like Kari and I hope she will return. There is a lot more to see of this woman and she should be given an opportunity to show us. Like all fans of reality shows, my opinions change like the wind, but like her or not, Kari is good television. I am willing to give her a chance because she means well, and in the end Kari Wells wants to keep it real.

The fall out of the big fight continues as we pick up this week with Kari and Duncan, who own their medical building, and are hoping Dr. Simone will rent space from them. We learn that Duncan and Mariah’s husband Aiden have not spoken since the fight, which was two weeks ago. That’s a shame because they were good friends. In the end everything is Toya’s fault.
Speaking of the classless whore, we head over to her house where she is planning a Halloween party for adults and kids at her house. Her husband is worried about how much it will cost, and she is not willing to talk money. This couple will be a reality television divorce before she can say my name is Toya and I’m an idiot. She’s had no contact with Mariah since the fight.
Toya sends an email to Mariah uninviting her to the party. Bitchy move by a stupid woman. Over at Mariah’s house, Quad has come over to visit. They are baking cookies, which is hilarious to me for some reason. Mariah shows Quad the email uninviting her and her children to the party. I get Toya is mad at Mariah, but the kids should not be involved. Toya is a loser.
Mariah is still mortified by the fight and Quad is becoming more fabulous with each passing week. Her craziness is starting to look like brilliance, and she may be the best of the bunch. These two, along with Dr. Simone, are the stars of the show and bitches better take note because this show is going to be recast after season one and Mariah is in the power position. Trust.
Mariah and Quad are out shopping for Quad’s dogs. She is planning a party for “dog children”, to raise money for a K9 charity. She lets Mariah know she is inviting Toya and I think that is crappy. Mariah is Quad’s best friend, and under the circumstances she should have not included Toya. Quad says it is about money, but Toya is not donating so come on. Bad choice.
Mariah does not get the concept of dogs as kids, and I am with her. Speaking of real kids, we are off to see Dr. Simone at her office. She is a ball buster and I love her. She has a lesbian patient, who wants a baby, and is going to sleep with a man while her partner watches, so they are together for the conceiving of their child. Why share that with the world? I do not know.
Simone is not digging it and I think she is fabulous. She goes next door to have lunch with Dr. Jackie. She takes lunch for Jackie, but Jackie says she wants to take it home and won’t eat it, which I think is weird. I am trying to wrap my head around Jackie but I just don’t get her. Maybe I will, but for now the only time I find her entertaining is when she is with Simone.
It’s time for Toya’s party and she says Mariah’s kids are suffering because of the actions of their mother. Really? Mariah’s kids are suffering because she is a selfish and stupid bitch that threw wine before punches were thrown. For real. Kari is there and says she has a lot of respect for Toya, which makes me lose respect for Kari. Kari does not know the truth.
Sidebar: I interviewed Kari last week and she was fabulous. That interview is coming this week. I am also interviewing Mariah this week, and that should be great. Kari is very different in real life from what we see on the show so it will be interesting to see how Mariah is. I really do like these women and think this show is the best chick based reality television.
There are two parties going on. Toya’s, and the one Mariah is attending. Mariah is upset that Toya is clearly trying to make all the ladies pick sides and it is sad. If Toya had any class she would have included Mariah, if only for her children. Toya has no class however, and the women who went to her party lacked judgment and should have pushed for a reconciliation.
It’s puppy party time and Quad says she is not happy with Toya and her behavior, but she has nothing against her dog, so she was invited. Really? Quad is treating Toya’s dog with more respect than Toya treated Mariah’s children, and Quad should never of invited her. Toya can catch fire and be out with the dogs, not in the party. I am not digging Quad’s choice.
Toya arrives to the party looking like she is off to the market, not a fundraiser. I think it was ballsy for Toya to go, and she only did it to make Mariah feel bad because she assumed Mariah would not be there. Then Mariah shows up looking French, with a mechanical dog on a leash. I freaking love Mariah. Mariah talks to Toya’s dog, not Toya. Total perfection.
Mariah then sends her daughter over to Toya to ask why she couldn’t come to her party. Toya says it is bad parenting and she would never involve her kid. Is she for real? She involved her kids when she did not invite their friends. Lauren asked her a fair question and Toya should have said she was sorry, not told a child that her mother was mean. I cannot stand Toya.
Sidebar: Seriously, I cannot stand this classless bitch. She is ignorant, selfish, and beyond stupid. From her view of parenting, to that of Hitler and the Holocaust, she is a moron and if they bring her sorry ass back for another season I will be pissed off. I will still watch, but I will go out of my way to rip this woman a new one every chance I get. Power of the blog.
Toya goes to Quad to tell her she is uncomfortable and leaving, but Quad is not having it. She tells Toya this is about the charity and she is going to stay and she is going to write a check. I love me some Quad. She is all kinds of good crazy and the most authentic. She was a bitch to invite Toya, but whatever, I’m over it. She did it from a place of kindness not malice.
Toya approaches Mariah, which I didn’t get. She went from being uncomfortable around her, to approaching her on her own? Mariah asks her why she uninvited her kids to Halloween, and Toya says it was not about the kids, but a fear that Mariah would act up. Toya is a bottom feeder and she is just mad her actions caused her to lose her grip on Mariah’s coattails.
Toya tells the camera Mariah has multiple personalities because of her childhood. She through Lauren under the bus and is now doing it again with Mariah. Toya needs a kick in the ass, and one hard enough that she lands off this show. Next week they all get together to try to fix things so it will be interesting to see if anyone will be honest enough to keep it real.

When I blogged the season opener of the OC ladies, I predicted I would be sick of them by episode three. Turns out one was enough. I’ve been watching, but from the comfort of a drunken stupor. They are painful. Painful to look at, painful to listen to, painful to blog about. That said, there are things I must get off my chest, so I am going to blog the last three episodes in lightening speed so we're up to date.
Alexis is friends with Vickie because everyone hates her, and Vicki is her only shot in hell of getting camera time. Vicki is a grandma and Brianna, along with her husband and baby, are living with her. Gretchen is worried Vicki and Tamra will be friends again and then she will lose Tamra. None of the friendships make any sense. They are not real, obviously scripted, and each one uses the other to get more scenes.
Vicki has had some work done and let me just say, I can see no difference. She looks exactly the same to me. Vicki and Brooks have fake broken up because everyone hates him. She is still talking to him, still banging him, and still unaware of the fact that he is using her. Poor girl. Eddie leaves because Tamra is his boss and sends him to a meeting. That relationship is based on sex for her and fame for him. Don’t get it.
These women are crass, immature, mean to their partners, and mean to each other. Tamra walks out in a sea of fake tears with Heather following her. Heather sets up a chat for Tamra and Vicki and I am now drinking. Heather is using all kinds of clichés but is mixing and matching so she sounds like an idiot. Well intending, but still an idiot. Heather humiliates her husband outside before they move the party into the house.
Alexis is at a dance lesson with Jim and I am grossed out. Nobody will shoot with her, and they are desperate for money, so she has to shoot with her super odd husband in order to keep a paycheck. They are creepy, I think their sex is probably totally kinky, and there is nothing of interest about either one of them. They are also quick to jump to talk of sex, which makes me wonder, what would Jesus think about these two?
They are having a spread of Costco yumminess and Tamra points out it is from Costco, Terry repeats what Tamra says, and Heather is embarrassed as if nobody in America did not know it was from Costco. To properly put her husband in place, she pinches him. It clearly hurts, and I wonder how long this marriage will last in reality television hell. She is horrible to him. Tamra and Vicki go off to have a chat "in private", with only cameras allowed.
Gretchen says she wants Vicki and Tamra to make up, which is a total lie. She then says Vicki puts on a “song and pony dance”, and I am laughing at how incredibly stupid these chicks are. They really are dumb. With Tamra off with Vicki, Gretchen calls Slade to gossip about it all. Slade is a pig, and these women don’t look that great when the cameras get up close. Great bodies, but bad skin, and age inappropriate fashion choices.
Alexis and Jim are opening a trampoline park. I’ve been to one and it is fabulous, but I don’t care enough about them to watch this scene so I am skipping over it. I did watch enough of it to hear Alexis share that her husband had a year of feeling like a loser, but is better now. Sidebar: Alexis does not know how to jump, or talk, which is hilarious to watch. Her husband is still a bit of a loser, and likes to wear women’s shoes.
Slade has a new job as a radio host. Does anyone listen to him? He trashes Vicki on the radio and I am skipping over him too. Slade is garbage. For real. They are getting married however, so bless them. She should wear a black dress. Vicki is remodeling her entire house. It looked ugly before so lets hope she has a new decorator. Brianna is quite bitchy and I think it is sad she is making Vicki chose her over love, even though it is not love.
Brianna and her husband like to complain, and have a lot of opinions about a house that is not theirs. Brianna sounds like a spoiled and entitled brat who is not appreciative of what Vicki gives to them. Vicki is cute with the baby and being a grandma suits her. Cut to Tamra, Eddie is telling her that Vicki is a troll and they should not be friends. Eddie is on his way out so who cares about his opinion? Or ever did?
Alexis comes to visit Vicki in a dress that could have used some Spanx. Vicki admits it is weird that Alexis is visiting and not Tamra. Translation: she needs to be friends with Alexis because nobody else wants to be friends with either of them. I wonder if Vicki gets bonus money for shooting with Alexis? She should. Vicki wants us to know she is putting her daughter before Brooks. Well at least for the camera crew she is.
Heather is now being mean to Terry at his office. Nice change. A magazine wants to shoot their house. Translation: We are going to use a fake photo op to introduce the new housewife, and by the way, you were never going to be in the magazine, let alone on the cover. Gretchen and Tamra are out shopping for a baby present for Vicki’s grandson Troy. This entire scene is scripted and giving me a headache so I am skipping over it.
Not before I comment on the fact that Gretchen is planning to have a baby with Slade. The man cannot take care of the children he has, so that she wants to have a baby with him is almost as disgusting as the thought of her having sex with him. My eyes, my eyes!!! We are now forced to watch Brianna be mean to her mother about her bad choices in men. This is getting old. She hates Brooks, she will take the baby away, we get it.
We finally meet Lydia, the new housewife. Dear Lord she is annoying right out the gate, yet seems ballsy, which I love. She seems like a teenager and I am not digging her. Could change, but no. She reminds me of Denise Richards, but with odd teeth. Lydia is harmless and as soon as Heather learns she is friends with Alexis, she throws Alexis and her fake ring under the bus. Heather is not a nice girl. Shame she’s the Jewish one.
Tamra is at her new studio and Eddie is advising her to not be friends with Vicki again, so you know there will be drama. Vicki arrives, in her car, from across the street, to see the new space. Sidebar: Vicki needs to either brush her hair, or cut it. Not cute. They went from hating each other to hanging out, which is stupid. Vicki tells her to have a party to show the space, and they also agree to have dinner together. Ugh.
Lydia has an annoying laugh, does the chicken dance, and blows on her lemon drop before drinking the ice cold beverage. Bless her. She will be interesting. Maybe. Not really. Vicki and Tamra are out for dinner. Really? I simply cannot sit through this dinner of fake apologies, fake crying, and insisting each one was more hurt than the other. Instead I am going to pour myself a glass of wine. By glass of course I mean it is my third.
It is Yom Kippur and Heather has finished her lobster and is ready for temple. She spends her time telling her husband what he should atone for, not thinking that perhaps her belittling him might be something to put on her list. They go to temple with their kids, one of which is a terror, and I wonder if they actually filmed on Yom Kippur. There is nobody in temple and this is a ticket only High Holiday, so something is not right.
Tamra meets with a party planner to set up her studio show and tell. There is nothing in it so I don’t get it, but whatever. Her left boob appears to be broken. It is such a sad looking thing that I feel bad for her. Well, sad for her boob. Cut to Jim and Alexis. Jim is gardening and the way she talks about him, and how he acts, makes me think he had a nervous breakdown and is medicated. They never should have brought this couple back.
Vicki wants to bring Alexis to Tamra’s party. Translation: Bravo is making Vicki take her to Tamra’s party and paid for the party so Tamra would allow it. Alexis arrives to Vicki’s and she is wearing a shear top with a pink bra, instead of a black one, with shorts and heels. She looks like a hooker, which makes sense because it is trashy for her to think on any level it is okay for her to go to Tamra’s dinner. This woman needs to go.
Heather is doing a radio show and reminds us her “career” involved a lot of radio. She’s so pretentious. Alexis is talking to Lydia about Heather and Lydia shares that Heather outed her fake ring. This show is ridiculous. They hate each other and spend all their time one upping each other, or knocking each other down. I’m also pissed off that Lydia is pretending she does not know who anyone other than Alexis is.
When these new chicks say they don’t watch the shows they are lying. Heather and Terry are going out with Lydia and Doug for dinner. Heather is still thinking she has a shot in hell of her house being on the cover. It was all scripted for the new chick Heather. Cut to Gretchen who is dropping Slade to the airport as his son has another brain surgery. The boy is so sick, yet Gretchen makes it about her. Slade is a loser.
It is time for Tamra’s party of hate. She is regretting allowing Alexis to come, and Gretchen is causing problems before Alexis even arrives, by pushing her agenda with Tamra. The agenda being not allowing Tamra and Vicki to be friends. Alexis congratulates Tamra and gives her a bottle of wine. She then gets delusional and thinks Tamra gave her a tour, when really she gave Lydia a tour and Alexis tagged along. Such a loser.
Everyone is talking under their breath and clearly not pleased with each other. It is stupid. Cut to Vicki talking about her grandson by saying she has a baby, and Gretchen jumping all over her for saying it is her baby. Gretchen is a moron, and a whore, and nothing but trouble. She really is a mean and nasty woman, as is every single person on this show. Lydia may not be, but she’s new so give her a minute. She’ll get there.
Vicki congratulates Tamra and tells her it is a new start, but Tamra wants to know why Alexis bothered to come. They are all ganging up on Alexis, and the poor girl is trying to handle it nicely, but it goes to hell quickly. It’s not bullying really, but it is mean, hurtful, and immature. Alexis should never have gone, and as it becomes apparent to all, she is kicked out by Tamra. Tamra lets Vicki know she can get out too. Just awful.
That these women are unaware of how they are humiliating themselves and their children proves that they are in fact really dumb. I simply cannot blog about them anymore. It truly is painful. They are a wretched bunch that hates each other, so they cannot be surprised that we hate all for them too. They are not entertaining, not interesting, and not worthy of our time. The OC needs a new cast if Bravo wants us to stick with them. Just keeping it real.

Oy Vey! This reunion is a hot mess. The screaming, talking over each other, and the exclusion of Love is annoying. I get that Love was out of control with Carla, but they should have let her tape a segment to she could explain herself, and say bye to the fans. She was fabulous and I thought she brought something great to the mix. They owed it to the fans to let her say goodbye in her own words. Hate it when fans don’t matter.
Karen and Ramona are on Carla like white on rice. She is not liked and it makes no sense to me that she is still on the show. She is not interesting and nobody likes her. There is a lot of Love bashing, and she is not there to defend herself. Did they think she was Snow White? Sidebar: These women make me want to move to Staten Island and be Italian. I have the mouth of a drunken sailor so I’d fit in with the right accent.
Dr. Drew is moderating the reunion, which makes no sense. I like the guy but this is not his forte and they could have gotten someone better. I think Jennifer Graziano should do it. She is in the know and can ask the things we want to here. There is so much screaming. Drita says she told Carla to leave Love alone and Carla was the one who went in wanting a fight. Carla is the troublemaker here and Love got screwed.
We move onto Carla and Renee. Renee looks fabulous and this blog is hard to write because I have no interest in Carla and cannot understand half of what is being said because everyone is talking at the same time. This format with the audience and questions does not work. It’s very MTV and needs to be more Bravo. We are not learning anything, except that yelling gives us a headache. We are half way in and I’m about done.
Renee is talking about her addiction and recovery. I like her. AJ says he does not believe in addiction and that you should just stop, which is unfortunate. It was a dumb thing to say and Drew should have commented on it. If he can’t contribute to the ocnversation about addiction, then why have him there? Carla is apologizing to Renee and AJ for her junkie crack and I am not buying it. Carla is not sorry for anything.
Drita shares that Lee is back in the house and all is well. He feels guilty about missing so much time with his kids, but denies ever cheating on her. She says Lee will never appear on the show. Good for him. Everyone agrees that Joe was disgusting in putting down Carla on camera. Agreed. Then Dave joins Karen on set. Dave made a mistake, admits he made a mistake, and I like these two together.
As if we didn’t get bored to death with Ramona’s wedding all season, we are back talking about it. Ramona is not married yet, Karen still thinks it is a stupid decision, and I don’t get it. I feel sad for Ramona and her kids. She is surrounded by people who can help her understand but she won’t listen. The reunion didn’t answer any questions, or give us any closure. It is disappointing and disrespectful to loyal fans.
I like this show and I love these women. They are good television and give a glimpse into something that is fascinating. Love should have been able to say goodbye, and Dr Drew should not have been the host. I will tune in next season, but I’m coming in knowing I might not stick with the entire season. The reunion was a dud, and my not being sure if I can stick it out for another season is keeping it real.

I love this show. These women have breathed life back into reality television. From catch phrases to female fight club, they are good television. Not always classy or ladylike, but still good TV. Last week was the brawl, and this week is the aftermath. Let me begin by saying that hitting another woman is not my style, but I could certainly provide you with a list of ladies that I fantasize about smacking. It may not be appropriate to fight at a party, but it sure is ballsy, and a fantasy for a lot of women.
We pick up with the end of the party and Kari insisting she is done. Toya is hiding in the bathroom and Mariah is outside with her husband defending herself. Mariah is devastated for what she has done to humiliate her husband and Toya is crying. Kari does not understand what happened and we jump to the next morning at Toya’s house. Toya is explaining what happened to her husband, as he was working and not there. Toya has a different recollection of how it went down and suggests that Mariah was drunk.
Toya is an idiot. She refers to a ball gown as a ballroom dress, which I found to be hilarious. I wonder how difficult life must be for someone so dumb. She then decides to judge Mariah on a personal level, which is what caused the fight in the first place, by saying she waited for marriage to have children. The implication being that Mariah had a child out of wedlock. Toya is a bitch and is on the top of my list of fantasy smack downs. She is ignorant, nasty and ugly deep in her soul. If she has one that is.
Mariah has prepared a picnic for her husband and it is sad. She has embraced her husband, and his faith, and is an important look into Muslim Americans in a time when it is needed. She knows the fight was wrong, but she was protecting her child. Her husband is saddened, embarrassed, and humiliated. Mariah apologizes to him, but he is understandably upset. Fight aside, these are parents who have had the emotional wellbeing of their child put in danger by a fame whoring bitch who thinks only of herself.
Cut back to Toya, who decides that she is going to burn the Christening gown, that Mariah gave her. It is childish, selfish, rude, and ignorant. Toya says that Mariah serves no purpose in her life. Really? Mariah created this show, brought Toya in, and yet Toya does not think Mariah is important? Toya brings up God and I think it is all for show. She is putting the God card against the Allah card, and I am disgusted by her. My God, is the same God as hers and Mariah’s, and her behavior is shameful in any faith.
I am so angry with this moron. She wants a sign from God? Watch out for lightning. Toya is concerned with apologizing to Kari, but is over Mariah. Dear Lord. Mariah has made up with her husband and will make amends. In the end he is more concerned with his daughter than the petty bullshit of his wife and Toya. Aiden is a mensch, Toya’s husband is an idiot, Mariah made a mistake, and Toya is a gutter pig that needs more than a punch at a party. She also needs a lesson on the Holocaust. For real.
Cut to Quad who is out for dinner with her husband. They want us to get to know her and her hubs, and they are cute. She came in with a bang, but in the end she is very appealing and quite entertaining. I like her, like her husband, think her dogs hate getting dressed up, and respect her for putting off a baby until she is ready. I would not have pegged her as being so likeable a couple of weeks ago, but bravo to Quad for being so fabulous. All the haters can catch fire because the girl is good television.
Over to Dr. Simone, she is hanging with her youngest son and nephew. I adore this woman. I go back and forth between admiring her and her work ethic, and feeling bad that work takes so much of focus. She manages to balance it the best she can, has beautiful kids, and a supportive husband. Bless her. The nephew was to come for the summer and is still there. She is ready for him to go. She needs time to prepare for the idea I pitched her. Pap smears are the new Botox Dr. Simone. Cosmos and stirrups!
I would happily have a drink with my friends while getting a pap smear. Much more comfortable than sitting there with my doctor making small talk while she gets up in my business. Think about it Simone. It could be all the rage. Cut to Kari who is talking with a friend about the fight club. I interviewed Kari this week and am working on that blog, so I can tell you she is much different on the show, than she is on the phone. Poor girl. People are not going to get her, myself included, so we’ll see if that changes.
We meet one of Dr. Simone’s patients and it is sweet. To see her in the role of doctor is interesting and I wish we got more of that for her and Jackie. The couple has a baby girl, Claire, and it is magic. I can only imagine the satisfaction her work must give her, but to hear her defend her work, and clearly struggle with the love she has for her job is sad to me. She owes us no explanation so it is touching she feels the need to explain. I really like this girl and as a working mom, appreciate seeing her struggles.
Kari meets Toya for a drink and I find myself actually rolling my eyes, calling out to Toya that she is a dumbass, and pouring myself another glass of wine. I wouldn’t have met Toya, and certainly not alone. Toya is blowing smoke up Kari’s ass. To show how low class this woman is, she offers to pay off Kari for forgiveness. Kari does not need your money loser. Kari is dumping all kinds of crap about Mariah and I am fascinated that these women seem to have forgotten that Mariah gave them this opportunity.
Kari is upset, but she is not doing herself any favors. Her support of Toya is annoying. Kari calls Toya a lady and I am laughing. Toya is not a lady. She is a fame whore. By whore of course I mean no disrespect to whores. We are with Mariah, Quad, and Lake, who are shopping for lingerie so Mariah can be sexy for Aiden and they can make up. This entire scene is a waste of time. Nothing interesting, nothing new, and too lighthearted considering we are all still decompressing from the fight club. Bad editing.
Simone and her husband are kicking the nephew out so she can get back on track. Cute, but a useless time filler. We are now on the second date of the episode with Quad and her husband. Was there not enough useable fight footage to stay on topic? Is all this light and fluffy really necessary? We love Quad, love her husband, and get that he wants a baby and she is not ready. Do we need another scene to remind us? No. No we don’t. They need a new editor on this show, or less dinking for the one they have.
Dr. Jackie is having Simone, Kari and Toya over for dinner. She wonders who fights anymore and I am laughing. Did people used to fight? Who are these people that “anymore” is part of that question? Everyone is supporting Toya, and not Mariah, forgetting that Mariah brought them in, and not mentioning that Toya gossiped about Mariah’s daughter. Why is nobody talking about Toya’s gossiping, which was the cause of the fight? Am I missing something that the majority of support is going to Toya? Very frustrating.
Toya is saying that Mariah was dirty. Is Toya high? Toys is ignorant about Hitler, ignorant about her role in the fight, and ignorant to think that we are buying her crap. She is a liar and the truth will come out in the end. Why is Jackie, the woman who does not want the humiliation and embarrassment of the women to reflect on her, getting involved? This all feels scripted and not at all organic. Mariah was wrong, but she is getting it from everyone. Nobody got hurt, and the perpetuation of the bullshit is annoying.
Jackie is now meeting with Mariah. Sidebar: She has her orchid on the inside corner of her desk, which is bugging me to no end. Why is it there? Move it to the other corner! Jackie is scolding, Mariah is crying, and I am not digging Jackie right now, which is weird because I love her. My heart is broken for Mariah, even though she threw the first punch. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I may change my mind, but I think Mariah was justified, Toya is a loser, and I am keeping it real.

Atlanta was not particularly interesting or entertaining this season. It had its moments of course, but overall without NeNe’s fabulousness, and Kenya’s craziness, these women don’t really have anything to offer. I watched, and I blogged, so it all led up to this: if they cannot entertain me in three hours of reunion time, I will kiss all their donkey and stallion asses goodbye.
NeNe looks fabulous, Cynthia looks inflated, literally, and we are off. Kandi says she does not want to say the date of her wedding so nobody steals it. Translation: She hopes to sell it to Bravo so she can make money. She is suing Kim Zolciak for Tardy to the Party, but she should be hiding her head in shame that she was a part of it, not asking for more money. Kandi not trustworthy and all about he money.
Phaedra says her horrific cover up was custom made. For real? Was the designer blind? Phaedra says the body should be celebrated, but mentions nothing of torturing it. Her poor little boobies are always being pushed into unnatural positions. She needs to let those babies breathe and if she is so desperate to make them look bigger, just make them bigger.
Sidebar: Not all white people think that all black people look the same. Additionally, there is nobody on the planet that looks like Beyonce. Phaedra is a hater and the bottom line is that she is jealous her husband hit on Kenya. For real. I think it is crappy that only NeNe and Cynthia got in touch with Kenya after her cancer scare. An email would have been nice.
Porsha is so dumb. Bless her. Important to note that it speaks volumes NeNe and Kenya got the coveted spots next to Andy. Kandi and NeNe are going back and forth and it is a waste of time. Kandi is jealous of NeNe. End of discussion. NeNe is being called out for tweets about the ladies and I say carry on NeNe. She keeps it real and they can’t take it.
NeNe mentions cutting to the white meat again and I just don’t get it. White meat is the easiest meet to get to so that cut is not deep. Shouldn’t it be cut me to the dark meat? Now that would hurt. We are back on the Miss USA/Miss America debate. Who cares? Maturity may not always come with age Porsha, but stupid is just stupid no matter how old you are.
They are talking about Porsha getting mistreated by Kordell, and with her current situation it is sad. Poor girl. She got blindsided by her douche of a husband. They are now talking about Kenya’s party. Lots of recapping but we’ve already seen it. They are onto Cynthia and she is too boring for me to even listen. She is hanging onto NeNe for dear life.
Porsha calls out Kenya for not knowing the history of her pageant. Porsha did her homework. I wonder if someone told her or she read it. Can she read? We move onto Kenya, Phaedra, and the workout videos. Phaedra is not the first person to make a work out video. I think Phaedra is a jealous and vindictive bitch who operates from a place of hate and jealousy.
They are fighting about who has the better and more popular video. I will buy mine at the 99 cent store in a coupe of weeks and let you know which one was better. Time to move on from this Andy. Is anyone else totally distracted by Cynthia’s boobs and Kandi’s eyelashes? We see Kenya’s music video and I am done. How is it that we two more hours to go?
Kenya is pulling the mental health card and I’m with her on this one. I think Kenya and NeNe come out the winners on part one as we move onto part two. Just as it ends Kenya says she will knock out Phaedra’s teeth, pregnant or not. Back in the gutter we go. Don’t come for me unless I send for you. Amen. We start week two with Phaedra appearing to be constipated.
Everyone is talking over each other, even Andy. All these women are wearing an insane amount of makeup. NeNe talks about Gregg and their getting back together. I love her, he has won me back too, and I wish them well. I will be watching her wedding special and cannot wait. Marlo being a bridesmaid is icing on the wedding cake. I seriously love me some Marlo.
They are going on and on about NeNe flirting with Peter. Seriously? They are grabbing at straws. Cynthia and NeNe are friends, Peter and NeNe are friends, there was nothing there and it is a witch hunt to try to make NeNe look bad. Not happening. This entire conversation is stupid. Phaedra calls Kenya an obsessed fan and tells her to shut up. I’m tired.
It is time to recap Phaedra’s season. She bored the hell out of me all season so I'll skip over it. Phaedra is a poser and a liar. Both personally and professionally. That’s how lawyers roll. NeNe is calling out Phaedra for getting involved with her family and causing problems. Phaedra is a snake and was out to hurt NeNe. Karma is on the look out for Phaedra.
Nene does not understand why Phaedra would want to hurt her in such a deep way, and Phaedra refuses to own up to any of it. Everyone is making their best constipated face and it is hilarious. Phaedra tried to destroy Phaedra, was caught, and will not make amends. It was during season one and that NeNe kept is quiet speaks volumes about how classy she is.
Again, Phaedra is a bitch and her apology is ridiculous. NeNe should have told Phaedra to go to hell, but since she didn’t, hey Phaedra, go to hell. We are now joined by Kim, who is wearing a hideous dress and her real hair. I think it is great she came and that everyone appears to be so uncomfortable, is television gold. Time to recap her housewife departure.
Is anyone interested in why Kim left? Do we need to hash this out again? She didn’t go on the trip, she left, she has her own show, and that is it. She is wearing green, but the other ladies are green with envy and are outshining hr greenness. NeNe and Kim were close and their friendship ending is the sad thing here. I think they will make up so good for them.
Andy is defending the other women being upset, which is lame. Kim does not feel the need to defend herself and I say good for her. These women are behaving like teenage girls. It is embarrassing. The bottom line is that when it comes to the real housewives of Atlanta, Kim is just not that into you. Stop whining and move on bitches. We’re all bored.
They are talking about the name Cash and how Kandi wanted it. Blah, blah, blah. Kandi is bitter and angry and much to my surprise, I find myself on Team Kim. I must be drunk. Kim is done and says goodbye revealing she wishes she had communicated with the ladies better. NeNe is not sure she will be friends with Kim again, and Kim is melancholy about it.
Kim and NeNe hug it out and it made me cry a little. Again, the wine. Kim leaves without saying goodbye to anyone but Andy and NeNe. Good for her. With that, we are onto part three. Andy is disappointed the girls did not go after Kim. Funny. NeNe reads a text Kim send when she left, and her response. It was lovely, they are lovely, and they will reconnect.
They start off by recapping the season for Kandi. I could care less about her and don’t think anything about her storyline is interesting. Not even the sex toys. The witch doctor in South Africa however, is fascinating. I love that he called it and would like to go see him myself. Kandi is dumping on NeNe for dumping on her ring, which I don’t think she did.
People of God are offended that Kandi believes in God, yet makes sex toys and lives with her boyfriend. Dear Lord. Move on people. They are now reviewing Kenya’s relationship with Walter. I didn’t get Walter and certainly did not get Walter and Kenya. I am of the belief that Walter is a douchelord and a fame whore, so I feel bad for Kenya.
Why does everyone care about Walter so much? He is a pig and she is a cast mate. Not a lot of loyalty happening in the ATL. Today’s lesson: flirting does not a whore make. Amen Kenya. Kenya says she questioned Walter’s sexuality, but did not call him gay. Does it matter? They did not have sex, they did not work out, and it is over. Can we end this now?
Kenya wants us to know she dated Walter for two years without sleeping with him. Not buying it. Kenya calls out Phaedra for saying you can’t turn a whore into a housewife in terms of Kenya. Kenya then calls out Phaedra for banging Apollo right after he got out of prison and got pregnant out of wedlock. We are finally getting some entertainment.
Phaedra is really horrible and Kenya is really fabulous. She is fighting back tears. Wait for it, fight lost and Kenya is now crying. She is happy and in a good place, but won’t talk about who or what it is. Andy asks if it is Big Poppa, which is perfection. It is time for the husbands to join in and for Porsha to lie her ass off. It is about to get good people.
Kordell is a no show to the reunion. Translation: he is filling out his divorce papers. Gregg looks good but I liked his graying hair better. Todd reminds me of Kanye West. Peter is a fame whore. Apollo is a whore whore. They are talking to Todd and I’m checked out. He is as boring as Kandi. What do they talk about to each other? I’m done with Kandi.
Peter says that Kenya and Walter were never in a relationship together. Peter is shady to me and I don’t like him. Everyone is defending Walter, which is weird to me. Everyone is trying to trip up Kenya and the attacks make no sense. Why is nobody on her side? The men are clearly uncomfortable with anyone close to them calling the gay card.
Peter is trashing Kenya and she sings right over him. Shut up Peter. Sing it Kenya! Apollo says he is not fond of Kenya and she responds by telling him to stop texting her. Apollo says Kenya was hitting on him nonstop and Kenya is not having it. Phaedra calls her a whore. Peter sticks his nose in their business, and they have all gotten real trashy, real fast.
Porsha is up next and we are reminded exactly how stupid she is. She is talking about how great she and her husband are doing, meanwhile he has filed for advice. My heart is breaking for her and it is a shame that after her husband humiliated her, Bravo decided to crap on her too. She is crying and I am so sad for her. This is very unfortunate. Bless her.
She is giving the greatest speech in the history of the Atlanta housewives. I am loving this girl right now. She joined the show to learn and grow from these women and they broke her down. Oh. My. God. I am standing up and applauding this young woman. I love her, I am seeing her differently, and I want her to find happiness with a real man, not a douche.
Cynthia does not get it and is now surpassed Porsha as the dumbest housewife in Atlanta. Peter calls out Kordelll for not coming and then Porsha sings. She is not brilliant, but she can certainly sing. Bless her. I’m not sure I can stomach another season. NeNe ends the show by saying Andy needs to replace one of them. Count on NeNe to keep it real.

I have not blogged this show for a couple of weeks. I’ve been watching, but I get caught up in it and then don’t feel like writing. Plus, they are not always interesting and stretch storylines. I’m behind and apologize for those who have been waiting for me to get my act together. I have two episodes to get through so we will move quickly because things have gone down.
Love and Karen are talking about Ramona and her wedding. Who cares? Karen is having a “Pre-Nup Party”, but it has nothing to do with Ramona. Really? These women are fabulous and when their stories are so obviously scripted I get bored. Karen is jealous, Love is bitter, and Ramona could not care any less about what they all think about her. I’m bored.
Drita is opening her shop and hiring her staff. I am happy for her but if this is a set up for a show about her store I’ll pass. She is cute when she shares with the applicants that Lee is a criminal, and reactions are awesome. We are now with Ramona as she talks about her wedding. I don’t get why she wants this marriage so bad, but bless her and her kids.
Ang is with Carla bashing on Love. She likes to sound tough but I’m not buying it. Impossible to know who is telling the truth, Love or Carla, but there is something odd about Carla, and something fabulous about Love, so pick a side and stick to it because these girls will cut a bitch. So much drama with these people that it is exhausting to keep up.
Carla gets served with divorce papers. Sad because I think she still loves Joe and wants him back. Ramona is with Renee looking at shoes. Important to note that not all reality stars can sing, and not all reality stars can design shoes. Just saying. Bless them all for milking their 15 minutes for all it is worth, but at some point you simply become a whore for money.
These women are real. How they dress and look is refreshing. Drita’s store is open and it is cute. She is happy and I hope she does well. I bought one of her lipsticks online and it is great, so good for her. Renee and Ang are talking about their kids and that is when I like them most. Real mothers, and we see them clearly when talking about their kids.
Time for Karen’s pre-nup party. Really? This is stupid. Nobody is getting married but Ramona, and this is a passive aggressive way for Karen to embarrass Ramona. These people don’t do pre-nups. It’s a cash lifestyle and to have this scripted crap is a waste of my time. Nobody wants to be there and the tension is dumb. They could fight without this party.
Love is fired up and the party is a bust. The girl who is giving the talk is mortified, but she should have known better. This was a lame idea and Karen looks like a loser. Carla does not go to the party. She meets a friend for a drink and all she has to talk about is the other women. She is talking smack about Love and this not going to end well. I’m bored again.
Love takes Ramona off for a chat. They are speaking nicely and no problems, then Karen comes over and makes it all about the drama. Karen says she supports Ramona’s marriage, but she doesn’t and needs to own it already and stop dancing around. Yelling has begun and a fight is brewing, all because of Karen, not Love. Love gets set up at every turn. Not good.
Ramona’s friend is sticking her nose where it does not belong and Love goes off on her. She restrains herself and walks away without a punch, but it was close. As for the friend, if you know you are going to be on television, can’t you touch up your roots? Get to a salon Sweetie. Not a good look for you. The party that never should have been is finally over.
Drita, Renee, and Karen are meeting for a drink and gossiping again. Lot’s of talking about each other on this show, but not a lot of talking to the person you have an issue with. Renee is with her son AJ and he tells her he is moving out. She cries, I cry, and it is heartbreaking. I cannot wrap my head around my son leaving me and so this was hard. I love Renee.
Drita is having an 80’s themed birthday and we are watching more gossip. This show is all about gossip and not enough action. I thought I didn’t blog because I was busy, but the truth is there is nothing to say. It’s just a bunch of cackling hens talking, talking, talking, and talking. Carla and Joe are talking about Love. Wrap it up already. I’m bored again.
Carla needs to talk to Joe about Love to get a scene? I’m not even paying attention anymore. Drita is talking to Lee and I think they are cute. Hope that works out. I could never lead the life these women do with the men in their lives. It is hard. Ramona is trying on wedding dresses and she looks lovely. The dress is important since it’s all he’ll see her in.
It’s party time and everyone is dressed up and ready to rumble. Renee has set aside her hate of Carla for Drita, but Love can’t quite do it. Ang and Drita go out for a cigarette and Karen takes Love over for a chat with Carla. Really? Karen is a shit disturber. Karen tries to get a conversation going and before we know what is happening, Love is attacking Carla.
I’m not buying this at all. The editing sucks because it goes from talking to punching with no instigation. We are missing a big piece of this picture. Love was set up in my opinion and Karen and Bravo are to blame. Karen for being an idiot and Bravo for editing the scene in a way that makes Love look she attacked for no reason. Hair, nails, arms, and blood is flying.
Security steps in, Carla is bleeding, and Love is out. Watching chicks fight is upsetting. Renee goes to Carla’s aid and good for her. Renee is a good broad and I am proud of her. Karen is making it all about saving her ass, but let’s get real, Karen is to blame for this one. Carla had the crap kicked out of her and she is not crying? Again, we can blame Bravo’s editing.
Love leaves and Karen goes to talk to her, which pisses me off. Karen caused the problem and now has an opinion? Drita’s party is ruined and everyone is mad at Love, which is warranted, but why is nobody mad at Karen for using Drita’s party as a way to cause drama and make it about her? I like Love, think she got screwed, and needs to rethink her friendships.
I feel bad for Carla. She gets hated on by bloggers, and gets hated on by her cast mates. The problem with Carla is that there is nothing sweet about her. All the women have an authentic and lovely side, but we have yet to see it with Carla. I’m not digging any of it. There is an insane amount of security guards around, but nobody goes after Love after she attacked?
It was a set up. A set up for Love, a set up for Carla, and a set up for Renee and Carla to talk because it’s hard to have a show when everyone hates each other. I think these are fascinating women but the show needs to get back to what it was and I’m not sure it can when the women aren’t close like they were. Fame ruins people and ends their ability to keep it real.
