Bethenny Frankel, Reality Star, Has No Grasp on Reality

Bethenny Frankel was on Ellen this week and it was fascinating.  She cannot stop lying, and when her lies were questioned by Ellen, she lies over the lies.  You can actually watch her dig herself into a hole and it’s interesting to see.  I honestly don’t know how she does it.

Bethenny has no apparent grasp on reality.  She is rude to Ellen, and has no understanding of conversation etiquette.  Rule 1:  When someone is talking, listen.  Do not talk over them, louder, to drown out what they say, to make your point heard.  Especially when your point is stupid.

It’s no secret I have issues with Bethenny.  I used to really like her, but she has become ridiculous and I find that I am now laughing at her, more than I am with her.  She is self-centered and her only goal is to be famous.  She lies about everything, including her lost at sea story.

Sidebar:  If you don’t follow Bethenny on Twitter, don’t bother. She is boring and insanely selfish.  She usually talks about herself, occasionally about her baby, and never about her husband.  She only responds to people who praise her, and she is constantly selling something.

So the Ellen visit starts with her coming out and dancing, and it’s all good. The second she opens her mouth however, she is classic Bethenny and the lies starts flowing like Niagara Falls.  Ellen asks her about being stranded at sea, and Bethenny is rude to her, which was interesting.

Bethenny says that her therapist suggested they go on a “team building” exercise as having been married two years, there are bumps in her marriage. Listen, the bumps have nothing to with time, but more to do with her getting pregnant and marrying a stranger.

Important to note that I love therapy but I would never socialize with my therapist, and furthermore, if there was something he wanted me and my husband to do, to make our marriage stronger, I would not take a film crew to capture every moment of our rebuilding.

Plus, what kind of a therapist agrees to have his sessions filmed for television?  Perhaps the fame whore kind, but I digress.  She is telling us that Jason was set to cook on the boat, which is interesting.  We have never seen her cook, but he is going to cook now.

She is talking about how they got hit by a wave and it was violent, yet she says Jason slept through it.  She says the Coast Guard was called to help, yet they sent a tow company to “rescue” them.  Ellen asks the logical question of why the Coast Guard did not come themselves.

Bethenny panics for a second because she did not prepare a proper lie, and scrambles to say that the Coast Guard does not do rescues unless someone is bleeding or in dire need of help.  Really?  The Coast Guard hangs around for the big stuff and sends in fishermen for the rest?

Ellen is trying to understand what happened, but Bethenny gets pissy with all the questions, and even Ellen jokes that she does not need to get mad at her, she’s just trying to figure out what happened.  Bethenny is in need of a real therapist, not a guy who plays one on TV.

Then the show got confusing because Bethenny references her “therapist” and says he’s a great sailor, and refers to a video we saw, but we were shown nothing.  Did they show footage, then edit it out?  Did Ellen realize it was a big scam and did not want her show to be a part of it?

Ellen comments that the guy who towed her in went to the press and complained that she did not tip him. He’s actually commented here on my blog, and his issue was not with the tip, but with the fabrication of her story.  It simply did not happen as she would like us to believe.

Bethenny assures us she did tip him, and would have even slept with him as a thank you.  If she were single, that would be quite funny.  But considering she is married, and a mother,  it was not funny, but vulgar. It’s so sad that this is the legacy she is creating for her kid.

Ellen jokingly tells Bethenny the tow guy is there, and all color drains from her face before Ellen can tell her it’s a joke.  That is brilliant television.  Then all the fun ends when Bethenny does a segment on how to save money and be fashionable. Why would we care about her opinion?

It’s a silly set up for her talk show and I’m not watching.  The thought of a Bethenny talk show is unfathomable to me.  That said, I will watch, and blog because while she has a lot of fans, there are just as many of us who don’t get it, and when it comes to Bethenny, like to keep it real.

I have been saying that about the therapist all along: what kind of therapist would allow these sessions to be taped if they were actually serious?  Which then begs the question of why at all have them taped, serious or not, which reduces the whole thing as “entertainment”.

She has been allowed to paint her parents as animals and takes potshots at her mother at every opportunity.  If these “sessions” were real then a certified therapist would never permit himself to be a part of this fakery.  And yes, I agree that the separation between therapist and patient should remain professional. 

Who invites cameras along unless a deal has been struck to include monies changing hands along with a boatload of publicity.

Bethenny is a phony baloney and her rabid fans are in for a shocker the day she announces that Jason has been kicked to the curb as no longer necessary to boost up her image.

She’s been “allowed” to talk about her parents because in this country - at least for now - we still have this little thing called freedom of speech.  It’s exactly the same thing that the two of you have had in order to be “allowed” to post blogs and comments badmouthing other people.  Get over yourselves.

Hi Ilana!  Great write up!  I missed the Ellen Show but completely get what her appearance was like.  She is always like this and will not change…seems it just gets worse.  I truly think she is a pathological liar who believes that she cannot be touched…delusional much?? 
When a person is in “real” therapy they are sort of accountable to their dysfunctional behavior and move toward changing it.  She lies/embellishes and abuses people every chance she gets in order to protect this “Oliver Twist” persona that she has created.  Her therapist must be along for the ride because a true professional would not be doing the things that he does…she manages to find people who protect her myth.  Also, whinthe world does she think that the poor guy who towed her would EVER want to sleep w/this bag oof bones and bullshit??? I wish Ellen did have him on the show…now that would have been entertaining!!!

Love this!  I don’t watch Ellen, but I am not wishing I did. Fabulous! 

The coast guard does come when someone cannot get to land just read the paper.  They only needed a tow as was stated repeatedly in many papers by the Tow Captain.

No “REAL Therapist” would have his/her sessions televised. It is outside of the bounds of professional responsibility within his profession. These are sessions to say everything. There must be problems in her marriage to do team building together. I don’t mean they are getting divorced or thinking they would want to divorce, but real issues. I think getting pregnant and married to a man you new for only 9 months and 6 months pregnant would be a real issue.

I love it! Bethenny is exposing herself. It is beautiful!  And so much fun!

You can always rely on the “Bethenny Worshippers” to flood the site with cries of “jealousy” whenever someone poses an opposing view of their icon.

Do they take turns scouring the net for items that may not buy into the Bethenny myth or do they go out there into cyberspace in tandem looking to “take down” anyone suggesting that perhaps “her ladyship” is not all that she seems?

Really laughable now since they will no longer have Jill Zarin to endlessly mock.  Just surprised that they have yet to devise a conspiracy showing Jill paid off the Coast Guard to let Bethenny float out to sea.  Or some such crap.

Bethenny is too harsh for a talk show. I liked her bluntness on the wives’ show and her spinoff BUT I would not allow my children to watch her. She is ADULT humor. People are on egg shells when around her.

Hi Ilana,

OMG—I have missed you and your clever writing so much.  I haven’t watched ANY of BEA, nor did I see her on Ellen (whom I love), and I don’t plan to watch anything she happens to be on.  I find Bethenny Frankel beyond annoying and quite frankly, wasn’t her 15 minutes of fame over like 14 minutes ago?

She does like—and constantly!  I think what turned me off her the most (personally) was her lying about being an abused child.  I know a little something about that personally and people who make up stories about how they were abused—when in fact, they were not—do damage to every person who truly has suffered abuse.  She makes others question all survivor’s of abuse—and that really pisses me off. 

When I first heard how she was abused, I felt something like a kinship with her—and I also felt pain for what she had suffered.  Then I come to find out that her “abuse” was being sent to a 5 star boarding school and overseas on vacations, rather than living at home with her parents. 

She twists whatever she can to make it work for her—and she does it without batting an eyelash.  A perfect example is her “100% natural cocktails” we’ve all come to now find out are not natural at all. 

Bethenny truly is a pathological liar.  And this is someone who lies for a reason and for no reason at all.  The reason why I will personally not watch anything she is on or buy a single magazine where she is featured is because I don’t want to condone her bad behavior (besides, if we ignore her, perhaps she’ll go away).

But in the meantime—while she is around, I will look forward to reading your wonderfully biting and witty blogs.

Have missed you Ilana.  Particularly lately—I hope you are well!

Yay! I finally found someone else who shares my views..Speaking of views, did you see her on the view? I found myself talking back to the TV and needing a xanax 2min after she opened her mouth…About a month ago she stated on Twitter that she had found a way to get kids to eat everything…Yeah, ppl have been feeding their kids for 1000’s of yrs and she has the secret..Whatever! I’m over her…

Wow.  I did check the Bobby Frankel Memorial Page as one of the commenters suggested - there is a photo of Bethenny standing right next to her Dad in 2003 as he accepted the award for the Belmont Stakes…...

Did you read the comments? The posters who all knew Bobby and to a degree Bethenny said they all knew the real story. They said Bobby always loved and supported Bethenny.  Kind of sad isn’t. Kind of sick as well with all of Bethenny’s lies. 

Bethenny’s talk show is not getting picked-up until she does a new pilot because they hated it. We will have a fake Bethenny.  No dirty jokes.  So what will she talk about if she does say how many people she has slept with or how much she wants you to buy her product or starts screaming.  Oh a completely fake Bethenny that is really keeping it real!

Personally, I like Bethenny and her personality.  I didn’t see the interview or read about the boat incident, but I don’t follow her every move either.  I like her “biting” sense of humor.  It is very adult and I think either you love her or hate her.  I have a very beset friend of 36 years who is the same way.  Also, the way Bethenny can tell a story is hilarious to me and, to me, it seems that she adds to it making it funny, usually at her own expense, but that’s just my opinion.  I try not to take people too seriously, especially on reality shows, but I think Bethenny is one of the people I would most like to hang out with because she knows where she came from, knows she has made mistakes, will make mistakes and knows what she wants out of life.  She used the RH platform wisely and she should be very proud of herself.

From the moment I heard the “lost at sea” story I knew it was a load of crap. The Coast Guard would have gone out and rescued them, that’s their job. The whole thing was set up for her show. Why else was there a camera crew with them? I’m betting the tow guy was right there with them all along. How long were they “lost”? No compass on this boat? I’m not an experienced sailor, but even I know that the sun sets in the west and you can figure out which direction you need to go from there.
I did see her on Ellen and loved when Ellen put her on the spot.  Bethenny would be horrible as host of a talk show because her guests would never get a word in. She only likes to hear herself talk.

There is just so many times you can say how many people you have slept with or make fun of everyone in the room until it not only gets old, but also gets disgusting. To each his own.  Different strokes for different folks. I thought Bethenny was funny in the beginning as well, but now it is same old, same old. Nothing is new she is a one trick pony. 

I don’t understand why people say they don’t track Bethenny’s every move and then write a comment on a blog about her that they found googling it is definitely an oxymoron.

I personally love a counter-point to all the Bethenny hype.  However, most news agencies are now exposing all her lies. 

I guess duping your fans into buying your alcoholic products when you are supposed to be a Natural Chef is pretty good.  Then saying it is All Natural and including preservatives and finally calling them stupid is a way to use the RH platform, but I don’t buy the Bethenny BS.  I don’t follow the benzene induced masses on Bethenny.

Hi Ilana!!!!!!!!!!  I <3 your blog, as you speak and write the truth about Bethenny!  I don’t hate her, yet she is responsible for her reprehensible behavior, especially her penchant for lying.  I implore to her that she reforms her ways, and perhaps people will start liking her again, if it’s possible.  Eventually delusions and illusions implode at full force; it is a fact of life, for all that is left is her soul destroyed by her behavior.

I’m so over her too Ilana! She is ridiculous AND revolting! Also, she claims that captain of the boat had been sailing for 30 years and yet he can’t navigate without a GPS! BS! BS! BS! he should be embarrassed that she tarnished his reputation with that lie and I hope she/Bravo compensated him well!

Also, I saw an interview with the so-called graceless tow boat operator who was very sweet and said he had never heard of Bethenny (which is probably her real issue with him!) and that the boat captain called him NOT the tow company! LIES, LIES, LIES Bethenny!

It seems all her falsehoods are catching up with her as she is now being sued on multiple fronts and all that money she sold her soul to amass is going to be wasted writing settlement checks. Enjoy that 5M condo while you can, B, because pretty soon you’ll be back in your dumpy little Tribeca studio overlooking the highway!

Whole Foods wanted the FULL LIST of ingredients. Sodium Benzoate was only one of the other ingredients. The label was deceiving and deceptive.

False advertising at its best to sway duped fans.

You must be a mouthpiece for Jill Zarin.

Actually, a lot of the things for which you criticize Bethenny Frankel apply to Ms. Zarin as well - in fact, they apply to most of the Housewives.

You really do have a negative bias to Ms. Frankel that goes to unhealthy lengths.  You might want to examine your state of mind about her.

Jill and Bethenny are one in the same! Actually if you read last year that is exactly what Ilana stated. However, now Bethenny is going overboard.  She makes False Statements to her fans and uses her products to Falsely Advertiser their benefits. That is much worse than what Jill did.

However they are both cut from the exact same cloth. Jill Zarin = Bethenny Frankel.

LaCarlotta, I just KNEW some rabid Bitchenny fan just HAD TO accuse Ilana of being Jill, or doing Jill’s work, or whatever else - get this:  there are plenty of us who cannot stand Bethenny.  And I have to disagree that the things Bethenny is criticized for apply to all the Housewives.  No way.  This woman is in a category all by herself.

I never understand why if someone doesn’t like Bethenny they must be Jill or her mouth piece. It is silly.

Bethenny has become what Jill once was.  I do believe that Jill has actually toned it down this past season.  I think that Bethenny has created more and more drama. The Coast Guard incident is total over the top. She has now demonstrated she is a lying two-faced individual. She has become worse than Jill.

I have always seen Bethanny as just a fame whore but sooner or later people’s true colors come out and people are starting to wise up.I stopped watching Bethany and her time is coming near.Even Oprah has dropped off the radar.Bethany knows her days are numbered and she’s just trying to get as much money as she can because she knows deep down what she is and that she will be found out soon enough.

I saw the Ellen show and I watced Bethenny become very rude towards Ellen when Ellen asked her about being lost at sea and whether she has tipped the tow boat driver? She appeared to be so uncomfortable and it was obvious that she was exaggerating or straight up lying.  I hated Bethenny’s response that “I would of had sex with the driver’ how inappropriate for a mother and wife to say on TV. This wasn’t funny and it wasn’t funny to Ellen either. I think Bethenny is caught up in her own fan-fare and she is a mess!!. I don’t feel she has the respect she should have for her husband who is very well liked by fans. She makes whore-like comments that are not funny and they are disrespectful to her daughter as well as her husband and his family. I am starting to lose my interest for Bethenny. I hope all the rumors that are surrounding her and her honesty will pan out if not she is definitely causing some damage to her image and her possible future talk-show. I am beginning to feel her talk show would be a failure because she is unravling at the seams. I smell phony!!!
