The Soldaten Kaffee ("The Soldiers' Café"), named after the popular hangout for soldiers in Germany and occupied Paris during World War II, is all Nazi-themed. From waiters wearing shirts with swastikas, to a Hitler wax figure, the small café sparked an outrage two years after it opened.

Natalie Portman to film in Israel

The Oscar winner has received a grant from the Jerusalem Film Fund to direct a film adaptation of Israeli writer Amos Oz's memoir, A Tale of Love and Darkness. Portman will play Oz's troubled mother, and also direct the movie, which will be filmed in Jerusalem during 2014. Excitement is in the air!

Israelis researchers taking a step towards curing breast cancer

An Israeli research team from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, led by Professor Yosef Yarden of the Institute's Biological Regulation Department, have embarked on a journey to find methods that will help fight off a type of breast cancer usually found in young Hispanic or African women. In order to find a solution for that type of cancer, the team came up with a method that mimics the way the body normally responds to breast cancer.

The new Israeli app that can save lives

A new Israeli app, BabyMinder, is aimed to ensure parents keep their on board babies at the forefront of their minds when starting their car. BabyMinder automatically detects when drivers park and walk away from their vehicles. As they move away, the app sounds an alarm and a reminder to check the backseat. Users can set the app for a reminder at certain times of the day or at the end of every trip, thus ensuring that there is a backup reminder in case they miss the first one.

Israel- one of the top-growing online export markets

A PayPal study shows that Israel is among the five growing export markets for PayPal merchants. The study, which examined online-purchase trends in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, China and Brazil in 2012, put Israel alongside Argentina and Russia in the top-growing online export markets.

Israeli high-tech experts and Palestinian entrepreneurs have gotten together in the hope of making the Startup Nation a cross-border affair. As leaders of both sides of the conflict are trying to come up with a common language, dozens of business-driven dialogues are quietly growing.

Two female Israeli researchers are in the running for a $100,000 prize from the United Nations and French cosmetics company L’Oréal, designed to help women from all around the world support their families while toiling away in the lab.

TripAdvisor listed the top 25 museums in the world. The Yad Vashem World Center for Holocaust Research, Documentation, Education and Commemoration bas been ranked fourth in that list.

US university heads visit Israel
