Israeli airstrikes hit Gaza weapons facility

Israel’s Air Force hit a weapons storage facility in Gaza City.

The strike late Monday night was in response to rocket attacks on southern Israel, according to a statement issued by the Israel Defense Forces, including at least one on Monday.

Ten rockets launched from the Gaza Strip have landed in Israel since March 18. A foreign worker was killed in one of the attacks.

“The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm the citizens of the State of Israel and will continue to operate firmly against anyone who uses terror against it,” the statement said.

The IDF on Tuesday announced that it had appointed a team of experts to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two Palestinian rioters from rubber bullets on Saturday. An army inquiry also has been launched in the death of two Palestinian farmers who reportedly attacked Israeli troops at a checkpoint with a pitchfork.

The army also has set up a committee to investigate the death Monday on the Gaza border of Sgt. Gabriel Chepitch, 21, by friendly fire.
