Yes, alleged Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Uchitel Is Jewish [VIDEO]

Yes, Rachel Uchitel is Jewish.

It was the news of Uchitel’s alleged affair with Tiger Woods that set in motion the unending revelations about Woods’, um, complicated personal life.  Uchitel, 34, is the granddaughter of Maurice Uchitel, a Jewish immigrant from Ukraine who parlayed a successful business in women’s shoulder pads into ownership of the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami and the El Morocco nightclub, Manhattan’s society hotspot in the 1930 and 1950s. 

(Uchitel is a not uncommon Eastern European Jewish surname.  The esteemed business writer for the New York Times is Louis Uchitelle—no relation, as far as we know).

This from The New York Times obit for Maurice, when he died in 2000 at age 88:

Among his diversified business interests were El Morocco, the legendary society nightclub, which he owned from 1964 to 1970, and, in the mid-1950’s, Voisin, a restaurant popular with social and entertainment figures. Before taking over El Morocco, he owned the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach for several years.
Born in Ukraine, Mr. Uchitel came to the United States in 1917. He entered the garment business, and eventually had his own business making shoulder pads before going into the restaurant trade.
His 1945 marriage to Patricia Pollack, a singer, ended in divorce in 1979. He is survived by two grandchildren.

Rachel Uchitel is one of those grandchildren.  She grew up in Manhattan and was a bat mitzvah there, according to a Journal source.

In an interview with BlackBook before the Woods scandal broke, Uchitel said her dream is to recreate the kind of nightclub Maurice owned:

“My grandparents owned and operated El Morocco supperclub in the 1960s; famous people from President John F. Kennedy to Cary Grant frequented the place on a regular basis. I’ve held on to my family’s memorabilia, and my dream is to re-create, own, and operate a modern-day El Morocco. Where am I a year from now? Standing over design renderings of my new club with a fabulous investor, still yet to be found.”

Before she met Woods, Uchitel was in the news following the terrorist attacks of 9/11.  Her then fiancé Andy O’Grady, a managing director for investment bank Sandler O’Neill, died after the second plane slammed into the south tower of the World Trade Center. 

Uchitel is being represented by attorney Gloria Allred.

“I’m not a “home wrecker, gold digger, tramp, whore ... I’m not those things,” she reportedly OK Magazine. “I have very good qualities. When you’re judged by the nation, it’s really difficult. It’s horrible.”

When the Woods story broke, I remembered that name “Rachel Uchitel” from somewhere but had no idea where. Soon enough, the MSM and internet filled me in the blanks. This was the same distraught woman crying for her fiance after the attacks. Her picture was on the front page of every Toronto newspaper over the next few days. Now it’s just weird, seeing a 9/11 victim (and from your blog post I see an intelligent woman from an accomplished family) being mentioned in the same breath as those OTHER Tiger Woods women. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Rachel seems to have nothing in common with the strippers and adult film performers Tiger is alleged to have preferred. But hey, I’m not judging her, just expressing my disbelief and puzzlement that one of my sad photo memories from that horrible day in 2001 ended up in this situation. Hope she’s okay and she has a happier 2010.

Wait a minute here!  Wait a cotton-pickin’ minute.  This story says, and I quote, “Uchitel is being represented by attorney Gloria Allred.”  It would help if we were informed as to what possible purpose Gloria Allred is serving here.  Is it that these bimbos who commit adultery and blame the men for everything are now also suing these men?  I mean for what possible reason is Gloria Allred involved here? 

Why not get the ADL involved?  Obviously Ms. Uchitel’s character has been defamed and people must be calling her all sorts of names.  And I know and any other halfway mature person knows that names hurt, particularly when the names are true.  This as she says, “I’m not a “home wrecker, gold digger, tramp, whore ... I’m not those things,”  Now I hate to be judgemental and I know the problem is the system itself, but few if anyone wants to acknowledge that.  So every month or so find another famous man who is unfaithful to his poor innocent wife.  And we can all go tsk, tsk, tsk, ‘til next month.

Rachel’s father, Bob—who had made his own fortune, up in Alaska, before being found dead in a pool of his own blood, from a cocaine overdose, in his living room, at the age of 44—was Jewish. Her mother, Susan, who lives down in Palm Beach, is the heiress to a depleted banking fortune in Cleveland, and is not Jewish. During Rachel’s four-month-long (!) marriage to Steven Ehrenkranz, who is Jewish, she wrote in a newspaper article (about her dead fiance from 9/11, Andrew O’Grady, and the aftermath of his death for her, culminating in her then-still-extant marriage to Mr. Ehrenkranz) that she and Steven had had an interfaith wedding ceremony—because she is Presbyterian! I find it very hard to believe that a Presbyterian twelve-year-old was bat mitzvahed simply because her father was ethnically Jewish—especially since her mother had divorced Rachel’s Jewish father when Rachel was about four years old (1979), and, I believe, had already remarried by then (1987) to a Mr. Bishop—who was neither Joey nor Jewish, as far as I know!?! I do not believe that either the rabinnate or the State of Israel considers Rachel Uchitel to be Jewish, despite her father’s having been so (ethnically, whether or not religiously).

Looks like Rachel finally has found a “faboulous” investor to start her own night club..She hit the jack pot alright. If Tiger Woods gets into some kind of serious relationship with a calculating woman of this kind, he really is no more than a bundle of muscles with absolute below average intelligence..“Retard” is the word. This woman is NOT Jewish. Her mother is not, therefore NOT.

I first saw Rachel on Celebrity Rehab, and she is an amazing, compassionate human being. Whether she had affairs with married men or not, I do not care. I do not care if she is Jewish. She is beautiful, and married men pursue beautiful women.
