What do Britney Spears and the Holocaust have in common?

I’m not sure what to make of the director that thinks Britney Spears should star in a Holocaust movie (or any movie, for that matter) but rumors have the pop star returning to the silver screen to do just that.

Spears last starred in “Crossroads” which may sound unfamiliar because hardly anyone saw it.

According to Haaretz, Spears has been offered the lead in “The Yellow Star of Sophia and Eton,” which, according to the Israeli newspaper, “integrates time travel, concentration camps and a love story.” (Have you ever heard a stranger concatenation of plot points?) Spears would play the title role of Sophia LaMont, the female inventor of a time machine that whisks her to a concentration camp where she meets her beshert. Spears has yet to confirm her commitment because the snake-wielding chanteuse is currently touring in her “Circus” show. Although, I’m not sure why anyone would see the movie since it’s already been spoiled: the star-crossed lovers die at Nazi hands.

That’s too much Britney blues for me.

What’s important is that we teach our children the truth about the Holocaust.  Whether someone made a poor casting decision is virtually irrelevant. 

I wrote about the Holocaust because I felt it critical to discount Holocaust deniers.  These mendacious historical revisers desire only one thing - to finish that which Hitler began with the Jewish people.  There are many vulnerable individuals whose weak minds can be turned into hatred of minorities.  It happened in 20th Century Europe.  It can happen again.  If we had learned from the Holocaust, we would not have witnessed Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda or Darfur.  Prejudice continues.  Someone has to stop the blind hatred.

“Jacob’s Courage” is a tender coming of age love story of two young adults living in Salzburg at the time when the Nazi war machine enters Austria.  This historical novel presents accurate scenes and situations of Jews in ghettos and concentration camps, with particular attention to Theresienstadt and Auschwitz.  It explores the dazzling beauty of passionate love and enduring bravery in a lurid world where the innocent are murdered. From despair, to unforgettable moments of chaste beauty, “Jacob’s Courage” examines a constellation of emotions during a time of incomprehensible brutality.

The worst characterization of the human experience is revealed through religious, ethnic, gender or racial prejudice.  Only when we learn to value the differences among us will humankind move forward into a bright future.  If we fail to learn this lesson, only darkness remains for our progeny.

Very funny considering that the premise itself is fiction-based and proves nothing either way. Regardless, there isn’t much of a hook for a story and furthermore after the last volley of movies during the last “holiday” season, I must say I had my fill of movies in this genre, so thanks but no thanks.
In another related note, I am happy for Britney getting a role in the screen regardless of whether it becomes or not a success.
Deniers? Who cares! No one should be “afraid” of deniers except those who doubt it’s legitimacy. Please don’t be so paranoid, Israel won’t go anywhere regardless.

I think it is great idea ! I have another one : inside the Auschwitz concentration camp a young genius XYZ ,an expert on DNA , who is working in a stone quarry one discovers the dinosaur egg.
Working in secret ,by night , he is able to create alive T-REX and use him as a secret weapon against the ss and Gestapo.
Pity Michael Jackson passed a way.He will be perfect as the young genius..After so many experiments on himself he would be the most convincing.

If she accepts the role, Britney will reportedly play the main role of Sophia LaMont, who creates a time machine and travels back to World War II where she meets a Jewish man called Eton at a concentration camp. They then fall in love and travel back to the present day with the intention of getting married but they are both killed by Nazis.

Hollywood DEFINITELY doesn’t focus on the Holocaust at the expense of all other historical atrocities that came before, during, and after.

In fact, just like Seinfeld mentioned Superman in every episode, it should be a law that every Hollywood movie mention the Holocaust at least once.

Filming of the new movie is set to begin in December, immediately after the end of Spears’ Circus tour, but the pop star has yet to confirm her participation in the project.

It is reprehensible to combine the issue of the Holocaust with Britney Spears in an attempt to secure financing for the film ‘The Yellow Star of Sophia and Eton.’ Ethical considerations should have priority.

This reminds me of a story I heard about Pia Zadora. Back in the 80’s she actually played the role of Ann Frank in a stage production (I don’t know where). It is near the end of the final act when the Dutch police break into the building. It was reported that many people in the audience started shouting, “She’s in the attic!”

‘They bled to death’: Complete Mavi Marmara footage released

Washington - The entirety of filmmaker Iara Lee’s footage from the Mavi Marmara was released Friday.

Partial footage was released Thursday of Israel’s deadly raid last week on the Turkish-owned ship Mavi Marmara, which was carrying aid to the Gaza Strip.

New York-based filmmaker Iara Lee was on the ship during the attack, and she managed to smuggle some of her footage out after Israel detained the 700 people who were on the Gaza-bound flotilla of six ships. Israel confiscated nearly all other video and photo equipment from the ships and has been editing it and releasing it to the public to support its own account of the raid.

Nine Turkish civilians, including one with US citizenship, were shot to death during the raid, which took place before dawn on May 31st.

Lee’s footage shows chaotic scenes of passengers scrambling to carry injured passengers below deck. Medics are shown in the video treating the wounded, including one man who appears unconscious or dead, blood soaking the front of his shirt.

Some of Lee’s footage was shown on Democracy Now. The rest of the footage was to be released at a news conference at the United Nations in New York on Thursday.

I am not sure if Britney is talented enough to be an actress in a holocaust movie, but she would attract alot of attention to this movie and I am sure sales would be good.

I disagree with two things.  The stranger concatenation of plot points and whether Britney should be cast.  First off, the plot seems just fine.  We have seen more absurd plots in Holywood.  And besides whatever the plot is, if they correctly portray the atrocities and the sheer magnitude of the holocaust even in a different context, I would be happy.In fact it makes it even more compelling for the viewer.  But Britney is old news.  Why even bother.  That to as a scientist.  By the way is the plot decided that the lovers die at Nazi hands.  That would suck though whoever might be the actress.

We have more pictures of UFO than so called “holocaust” and I can only admire the Hollywood hard work (no matter how absurd) in filling the void.
I wonder what kind of death the holy-brains designed for their heroine(no pun intended) :Gas chambers by diesel engine?Gas chambers by HCN ?Electric chambers?Steam chambers?Vacuum chambers?

I think it is mostly important considering that all of them were at one stage or another used in Jewish holo-propaganda.
None of course was proven so at present only the “gas chambers’ left but even this nonsense needs a re-animation 24/7 .
Maybe they will come up with something else?
