Charlie Sheen: Anti-semite or just pissed-off drug addict? [UPDATED, VIDEO]

Charlie Sheen had some very nasty things to say about his showrunner, Chuck Lorre, which hours ago, prompted CBS to cancel the remaining season of “Two and a Half Men.”

The news has sent shockwaves throughout the industry—not only because Sheen made recent headlines about a return stint in rehab, but also because the show is one of the most successful on television.

If he’s sobered up from drugs—and that’s a big ‘if’—he hasn’t sobered his ego.

During a TMZ interview earlier today, Deadline.com reported that Sheen had the following things to say about the “Two and Half Men” creator Lorre, whom he was careful to lambast, not by his showbiz name, but by his, uh, real name: Chaim Levine.

“I violently hate Haim Levine,” Sheen said during the interview. “He’s a stupid, stupid little man and a p**sy punk that I’d never want to be like. That’s me being polite. That piece of s**t took money out of my pocket, my family’s pocket, and, most importantly, my second family—my crew’s pocket… You can tell him one thing.  I own him.”

Sheen’s ego seems a bit out-sized for someone who can’t make it through the day without copious drugs. Otherwise why would he rush to play the anti-Semite card? In Hollywood, playing the anti-Semitie card is like pushing the eject button in the James Bond car. It’s a sure sign of Hollywood crazy when you’re going after Jews, because it’s such a Jewish environment; it’s biting the hand that feeds you. For Sheen, who is clearly off his rocker, spouting indignant, almost diabolical diatribes just to be heard, going after his showrunner is burning the last bridge. It’s pushing the red button that detonates the entire ship.

Raging verbal battles are also a way for the uber-fortunate to express what is most primal in them. As much as Hollywood can be a dog-eat-dog type of place, it isn’t Afghanistan and it’s not about survival. So expressing those fiery, angry urges in the form of hate speech is partly a survival impulse. And it wouldn’t be hard to argue that Sheen is hanging on by a very thin thread. 

On the other hand, when you’re an addict and say vile things ‘under the influence’, that can be indicative of hate feelings harbored deep within.

While Sheen has since kept quiet about his outburst, the studios responsible for airing the show released a joint statement effectively ending the show, according to TheWrap.com: “Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of ‘Two and a Half Men’ for the remainder of the season.”

This is a big deal, considering its popularity. The New York Times, which called the show, “the biggest hit comedy of the last decade” speculated that it “may never return.”

For his part, Lorre, creator of “The Big Bang Theory” and “Mike and Molly,” whom The Times refers to as “one of the most successful producers of television series in network history” has declined to comment on the matter. A smart move, considering that petty back-and-forth is an unsavory domain that usually gets people fired.

For CBS, the show would be an egregious loss, but a necessary one. “We had to do it,” a senior executive told the NY Times. Apparently, several attempts had been made by the studio to persuade Sheen to shape up. But instead of earnestly engaging in rehab, Sheen imperiously said he had cured himself “in a nanosecond.”

According to The Times, Sheen makes $1.2 million per episode. Which means, to support that expensive drug habit, he’ll have to start looking for work.

“While we Jews’ egos are a bit out-sized for people who can’t make it through the day without defrauding everyone, I’m not sure we should rush to play the “we are the chosen people” card. we are clearly off our rockers, planning deceit, fraud and conspiracy just to control. We’re an obviously evil tribe, desperate for globalization and a murdering force that will forever bring hell death and genocide to the non-jewish peoples of the earth.”

@Dan There are Jewish people in the American army today and there always will be.  There are also American Jews in the Israeli army as well. Most criminals in this country aren’t Jewish and plenty of them defraud and rape and murder so your point is erronious.  And plenty of people are racist individuals such as yourself for example. Jews as a group are not racist, we respect other cultures.  And what does that mean that religion is dated, religion is what is, some people have a faith some people don’t.

Charlie Sheen and his family are Jewish. “Jew Watch” a site authored by a former Jew converted to Orthodox Christianity lists all Jews in the media. There are two types of Jews, those who admit their Jewishness and “Marranos” secret Jews since the Inquistion who hide been Jews and fake being Catholic, Protestant, Moslem (yep) etc. Some “Marranos” that have been outed were John Kerry, Madalene Albright, Gen. Wesley Clark, who were “surprised - i.e. Marranos” to find out that thier fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers, uncles, aunts, grandparents etc were Jewish. When will Nancy Pelosi and her husband be outed - both their families are Argentinian Jews.

Since when is calling someone Haim anti semetic. Jews need to get a life if they’re offended by Sheen. Furthermore, why is it that his long history of abusing women seems to be tolerated and a comment calling someone Haim results in all hell breaking loose.

Let me try to analyze this: Sheen calls Lorre “Haim” and calls him stupid, and Miss Berrin only questions IF he is and anti-semite. and its probably other jews in the business who are trying to scratch their heads on this.

But Mel Gibson, oh he is already labeled an anti-semite during when he’s drunk. Charlie Sheen was sober when he did the interview to insult Lorre. Gibson apologized after that. Where is Sheen for that one? This is bias. Because Gibson is Christian is the reason he was already automatically labeled. Sheen is non observing and he is still getting a free pass. Freakin liberal bias. Thanks for the equality idiot

I don’t get it, I read over this column more then once and do not see any reference to him using any anti-semetic remarks. Please elighten me, when one man has an issue with another and calls him out on it, how is that considered racist?

Please stop grasping at straws and playing the ,“THE WORLD IS OUT TO GET US!” card all the time.

This propaganda bullshit has to stop, you are the crazy ones.

Sheen’s real name is Carlos Estevez, but hes not a “Latino” in the typical sense of the word. His Grandfather is from Spain, so he is a quarter Spanish. But Spanish people are white, so Charlie is white. Mexicans, which is what Americans think of when they think of “spanish” are really Native-Americans\Aztecs or Mestizos [mixed white\spanish and indian] hence why they are brown and not white.

yeah, but it doesn’t really matter if he’s white or even jewish, does it?  according to the theory, calling Chaim by his given name is more about the intent.  so calling Charlie by his real would be about reminding him who he is, and who he isn’t.  putting him in his place, so to speak.  it can be so annoying when the help gets uppity with their betters, yes?

How much more of this stuff are we supposed to stomach?!  How about making this a “Hollywood Beat” column instead of focusing on the “who’s a Jew?” angle? It becomes toxically sickening after awhile—this is not good for Jews, what is this, high school?

How is calling someone by their birth name being anti-semitic or any type of racist?  The actual insults had nothing to do with race or religion.
