Last month when I was home for my birthday I got scolded—by my best friend. “Haven’t you seen Adam Lambert on Idol?! I’m dying to know what you think!” If I thought I could get away without knowing about Lambert—the second Jewish contestant to be a front runner on ‘Idol’ (Elliott Yamin placed 3rd in Season 5)—I was SO wrong. Adam Lambert cannot be ignored. The buzz around him finally reached a boiling point, so I caved in and tivo’d last week’s show.
And all I could think was, Kara DioGuardi is so right: He is the modern incarnate of Clark Kent!
But before Adam Lambert became the rock star of “American Idol” season 8, he was a rising star on the Jewish stage. The actor/singer played the slave Joshua in a 2004 multi-million-dollar Kodak Theatre production of “The Ten Commandments” that publicly flopped, save for one redeeming feature. Even with movie star Val Kilmer in the lead, L.A. Times critic Mark Swed, who was sparing in his praise, wrote: “Few singers or dancers distinguish themselves with a personal sound or style. High notes are calculated to get applause. Adam Lambert, as Joshua, does the best in ‘Is Anybody Listening?‘ It is also the best song.”
Five years later, Lambert’s success on “Idol” feels well deserved if not overdue. And his newfound stardom has earned him a cult following and celebrity friends; he was recently spotted gallivanting around Hollywood with “High School Musical” stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. Living under a microscope hasn’t seemed to bother him either: When provocative photographs surfaced of Lambert dressed in drag and kissing other men, he proclaimed, “I have nothing to hide. I am who I am.”
But before Lambert’s glamorous turn, in which he has become known for his angelic voice and trademark eyeliner, he humbly sang with Jewish groups to gain experience.
In 2007, he performed at the Kol Nidre service at Temple of the Arts at the Saban Theatre, where he sang the duet “The Prayer” with Cantor Illysia Pierce. “He was spectacular. People were just blown away by him,“ said Rabbi David Baron, spiritual leader of Temple of the Arts at the Saban Theatre. “He has that star talent; even among stars, he’s a standout. He’s the shoo-in to win this year’s ‘Idol’ and if you listen to the judges, Randy, Paula—and Simon, the toughest critic—they all say the same thing, ‘You’re already a star.’”
Lambert also joined Temple of the Arts to perform at a memorial concert for Yitzhak Rabin, where he sang Shir LeShalom at American Jewish University.
He’s easily a Jewish star, but will he be the next American Idol? His friends at Temple of the Arts certainly hope so.
“The whole congregation is rooting for him, calling and voting, they’re just so excited that he made it. He’s really captured everbody’s imagination,” Rabbi Baron said.
Should Lambert’s fortunes land him on stage at the Nokia Theatre for the American Idol Finale—there’s a chance you can go see him: Nashuva received 6 tickets to the “American Idol” Finale that they will auction off via email starting Friday, May 1st. For your chance to see Lambert, visit nashuvafundraiser.com for more details.
Now I gotta run. American Idol is on.

Please vote for Adam next Tuesday. Vote over and over. He came close to being eliminated tonight and we were all panicked.
Adam is being targeted because he might be gay and he’s not Christian.
Go on some of the Christian websites and you can see there’s a movement to have Gokey? win but Adam NOT.
In response to Carla - I am a Christian and Adam is my favorite. Assuming that most Christians will support Danny Gokey is very far from the truth. I haven’t come across any of these ‘movements’ you’re talking about it.
Yeah, I’m a Christian too and I’ve been totally for Adam since the beginning. I think Adam is amazing and I also think Danny is amazing. I know it’ll be the two of them in the final 2. But I think we’ve all known that since the first day of hollywood. hehe
I dojn’t usually watch American Idol, but was channel-jumping when I hit the channel as Adam was singing. I was riveted! I sure am watching, now. His voice is amazing and his stage presence obvious. He will be a star whether he wins, or not, just like Jennifer Hudson. I truly hope his being Jewish won’t be a factor. There’s enough anti-semitism infecting the atmosphere. Talent is talent. Let it triumph.
I am also christian . I would ONLY vote for Adam. I was shocked that America would consider Adam as not a future star. I think all the other singers are good but not unique. Unique is the artist we need. Unique is how people become classic in the future. I also think Adam was done wrong at the beginning and that was cruel. He is only trying to do his best and for some to talk so horrible about him is really not truly interested in music or they would concentrate on the music he makes not his personal life.
OH DEAR LORD, I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU’VE OFFICIALLY PRINTED OUT FALSE INFORMATION. ADAM LAMBERT IS NOT JEWISH. HIS MOTHER WAS BORN A JEW, HIS FATHER IS AMERICAN [THAT’S ALL WE KNOW OF HIS HERITAGE/RELIGION]. ADAM, IS AGNOSTIC. Man, what was your intention? You know people can sue for this?
It sounds to me like he’s Jewish, Ed, from the background info you gave out (if accurate).
As far as I know, being jewish is passed onfrom the mother, right? Jake Gyllenhaal is listed as being Jewish because of his mother. Adam may be jewish, but is not a practing Jew.
It doesn’t matter if he is jewish, gay, straigh, or god forbid a democrat! the boy can sing and looks great doing it. That’s all that matters to me.
Hey everyone - I wrote about Adam not to speculate on his Jewish background, but because it’s pretty cool that someone whose largest platform was performing at synagogue is now singing on the most successful show on television.
Sorry Ed, but Jewish mother equals Jew. Doesn’t matter if you’re non-practicing.
Adam is fabulous and unique. He was so terrific that I rewound his performances on my tivo and watched them a few more times. He has a great future. I saw The Ten Commandments at the Kodak but didn’t know the connection. The last time I voted in a t.v. contest was when the skater Apollo Ono was on Dancing With the Stars…now I will call in for Adam. If he is being targeted by Christian sites that is added reason to call in more than once give him support.
It doesn’t matter what Adam back ground Adam has he is truly a gifted artist! He can sing anything!! And even if he doesn’t become American idol he is already pretty well known and become more so..he is a true talent?
Adam can sing for sure. Im not going to vote for him because he is gay. But, it is a singing contest and he is the best singer. He will fit right in to the hollywood weirdos. If I knew about everyones beliefs or sexual preference, I probaly would never listen to them or buy their CD again. So, I just listen to the music I like and leave it at that. Danny is good, but Adam has more versatality. It makes for exciting TV.
Jewish or Christian, gay or straight, it doesn’t matter. This is a singing contest, and Adam is the best singer. I was excited to learn that he’s Jewish, but I would vote for him even if he were of a different religion
i’m amazed at how ignorance and hatred still live….on american idol
Adam has a great voice thats obvious. Adam also has great acting ability, unlike the other singers. This is a singing contest and my thoughts is that he will not win because Idol fans look for someone thats just a singer. Adam will go on and be great for what he does. He does deserve to win and so do some others. I think its sad when people bring race, religon, and background of an artist into the picture.
Adam’s voice is a gift from above, whether you are Christian or Jewish. He has been blessed with a gift so far beyond the other contestant’s, he absolutely deserves to win! I am a straight Christian woman, and I hope he will be the first gay Jewish Idol!!! Go Adam!!!
Oh, my whole family just loves this kid. We will vote our fingers off on Tuesday night. He WANTS to win and we will do all we can to help him. His voice is a gift to us all. Yes, I am an older Christian female. Adam is a fantastic young man and we just love him to pieces!
Danielle, would you or the paper please try to find out more about Adam’s Judaism, so many people have been asking. Did Temple of the Arts say anything? The family was in San Diego for a long time, but we haven’t heard anyone talk about synagogue. I’d just be proud to know he’s Jewish and haven’t been able to find any confirmation, maybe you can find out? An amazing singer and a wonderful person, thank you for the article!
For the person who commmented that Adams mother is Jewish and his father is American….Hello!!! Jewish is a religion and not a nationality. Your ignorance is showing!!!
I’m not christen I’m not jewish…I’m a MUSLIM!
and I was shocked when i read thw adam is jewish..
well, let us be fair..adam is talanted and he deserve to win
plus.. nobody sure what is his relegion
Hi Aya,
Why is it such a problem with you that Adam might be Jewish? Does it matter what his faith is that much to you? If I did not know any better, I would think you have some problem with the Jewish faith.
If you do, why are you commenting on a Jewish Website, like the Jewish Journal. I am sure there are plenty of Muslim sites you can use.
Peace be with you!!!
I reckon Adam comes from an interfaith family. It would explain why he wore a cross when he sang “Ring of Fire.”
I don’t think that was a cross.
Being “Jewish” isn’t the same as being any other religion. You can be Jewish in 3 ways. By birth. By culture. By religion. I am Jewish by birth only. I would describe my religion as “Taoist.” As others have pointed out, if your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish. If your father is Jewish and your mother is not Jewish, you are considered to be half-Jewish (like Paul Newman and Goldie Hawn).
hi lisa
their must be misunderstanding,my dear.. in Islam we have to respect the other religion and i respect you and everybody else..but i was shocked(that’s all)..
commenting on a"jewish jornal” i’m just want to exprss my opinion “as a muslim”..
Dear Aya,
I am sure you are as welcome here as anyone else. I’m wondering, though, how you would feel if you were at a Muslim website, and you saw a comment from a non-Muslim saying they were “shocked” to discover that a TV celebrity was Muslim…
That kind of implies that the person feels, perhaps, discomfort about the discovery. Otherwise they might use words like: “pleased” or “happy.”
Please vote for Adam tonight!! He needs our help! Other contestants are supported by mega churches.
Bigots are putting out vicious emails against Adam. Please support OUR boy!

Thank you Rosalita. I am glad you too noted the tone of Aya’s message. I thought maybe I was being sensitive, but I guess not. I am not sure why this man’s religion is even a factor in whether or not he should win. It is disappointing that this is such an issue in this day and age. I happy to be a huge fan of Danny Gokey and I am Jewish….so what!!! I can vote for a Christian, Muslim, Buddist….whoever, if they are talented. I hope every one can agree.
Goldie Hawn’s mother was Jewish, Rosalita. (It’s her father who was not)
According to Orthodox and Conservative Jewish doctrine, no such thing as 1/2 Jewish… according to Orthodox and Conservative you are Jewish if your mother is Jewish or if you convert… other branches of Judaism accept patrilineal descent and conversion, but in those cases, there is also no such thing as 1/2 Jewish… if you are a Jew, you’re a full-fledged MOT
Adam Lambert is absolutely fantastic ...having watched previous American Idol seasons, I have to say that this beats them all. Allison, Danny and Kris are all,
without a doubt, extremely talented but someone like
Adam has everything..charm, personality, looks.. not forgetting those fabulous eyes..which remind me of Elvis. His self-confidence is abundant and his showmanship is spectacular..Freddie Mercury was great, I would love to hear Adam sing more of his songs..
the stairs were in place, and Adam was wearing a white suit, I thought it suitable for “The Great Pretender”.Apart from that the two videos, Ten Commandments and Shir Ha Shalom are great..Lots of luck to all..it is a pity that religion seems to pop up in
every single thing a person does these days..peace and health to all..from one of many fans in Israel..
best of luck for Adam,
here in israel we love him very much
cause he is got the best voice…
I’m a catholic and I am very pleased and not a bit surprised to learn that Adam may be Jewish. Many of my favorite artists are Jewish. I love my Jewish brothers. And I’m so excited about Adam’s career. He is clearly a good soul.
I am 55 years old and is super busy with life’s many concerns. Only a few weeks back, just to pass the time while having some coffee, I chanced upon the American Idol reality show. My mind was not really on the show not until Adam performed “Black or White.” I was totally mesmerized by this man! I never imagined myself doing so because I barely got time for TV viewing, but I got hooked . Then I needed my “Adam fix” on a daily basis not just once a week! Thus, I started visiting the hundreds of fansites and websites that featured Adam Lambert. I watch the live performance videos many many times over and each time, Adam never fails to give me that warm feeling all over me. Reading through hundreds of articles and fanmails, I could surmise that it wasn’t just me. There is something exciting going on globally in the music industry and it is all centered around this wonderful emerging supernova of this generation. I am so awestruck by how he affected people from all ages, all sexes, all nationalities, and now even the religious groups. What is in this man that is causing all this commotion? Obviously, he isn’t just a singing contestant in a reality show! I believe Adam’s talent is God-given. Whenever I watch him perform, I get goose bumps. I experience great joy just watching his every movement on stage. I was not a great fan of rock music but I totally enjoyed “Satisfaction,“Black or White”, and “Whole Lotta Love.” Adam connects with his audience and listeners in a very personal way. The experience is like watching your very personal friend, or your own blood brother becoming a star! It is my joy to see his family and fans alike rooting for him. And his detractors? I’m sure they are being eaten alive by their own hate and jealousy.
I am a 60 years old Japanese woman. Adam shocks the globe beyond skin, language, age and sex. We are struck by his God-given talent and feel lucky to encounter such a talent who might come once in our life time.
Danielle Berrin, “Hollywood Jew”, whatever that is supposed to mean.
This comment is more an observation than anything. I am struck by Ms. Berrin’s declaration that her interest story is not motivated by this singer’s, “Jewish backgrond”, rather some other variable.
I would simply ask then, why is it that she finds it necessary to point out in the first few sentences her compelling “acknowledgment” that he is, “Jewish”?
Hers is an emotive plea, an inescapable “revelation” that she cannot ignore his Jewish connections—-whatever these might represent.
It is simply disingenuous for Ms. Berrin to then post at 12:06 PM on 5/1/09 that she is not here to “speculate” as to his actually being “Jewish”——I mean, like, it is already her foregone conclusion, like, this tidbit, about, like, his being, like, the “second Jewish contestant to be a frontrunner on Idol”, and all that stuff.
No speculative notions here—-just, well, like, throwing it out there—-you know, like, any self respecting Hollywood-hypester.
Perhaps Ms. Berrin should get “in touch” with herself on a bit more of a reality based level—-you know, like, with a good dose of “honesty”, then, like, she’ll be received, like, with a bit more “cred”.
The “touchy-feely” adjectives and descriptors used by Ms. Berrin and many posters (to describe affects generated by “Idol” personalities) are the food which fuels “Hollywood” and its unique engine of emotive-hype, and largely narcissistic climate. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that”, as quipped by Jerry Seinfeld.
I mean, like, superficial perspectives notwithstanding, we gotta know what’s going on in Hollywood.
All the best to Adam Lambert in his musical pursuits. May his talent be fully realized. May he even use it to build bridges. And even though we’re not here to “speculate” on his being Jewish, we’d be, “SO wrong” not to point it out quickly.
Do you think world Adam’s fans care about Adam’s ethnicity - Jewish? Nobody care except people like Ms.Berrin. We don’t understand why so many American people have problems to see his musicality rather than his sexuality or ethnicity. He is an artist, being free from all boundaries. Why can’t people appreciate his enormous gift?
For all you American Idol fans, please listen to Adam Lambert sing The Prayer at Temple of the Arts. It is fantastic.
There are so many self-hating Jews and anti-semites responding here that it is incredible. Why shouldn’t we revel in the possibility of a Jew winning American Idol? How wonderful that America should vote for him. Why shouldn’t we be proud? Did’nt America revel in the election of a black president? Can’t Jews love their people’s successes. And the Jews are a people. You can be a Jew without being religious. You haters that object to people being proud of Adam because of his Jewishness are the same people who hold Israel to different standards than ever other country in this world!
Hey Jerry,
“Lighten up, Francis…”
Man, you’re sphincter is so bound up, you cannot even distinguish or identify what anti semitism is.
It’s pathetic, your emotional rant.
Yours is a straw man argument about the, “haters”. Where are they?
Adam reminds me a lot of Les Golden, another Jewish actor/singer/writer, who now lives in the Chicago area. They’re both Jewish and both make me proud.
oooooh the specter of Christian hate groups! Did it work on you? Do you believe it? I don’t.
Remember when Harry Potter was getting started and supposedly some Christian hate groups demonstrated against the books? The books have Christian theme disguised behind all of the fantasy and entertainment. But the publisher drummed up controversy to sell more books.
I’m a straight Christian conservative. And I love Adam Lambert! Don’t fall for this straw man of the “other.” There’s no organized opposition by Christians to Adam. Adam makes some men uncomfortable, and that’s when you know he’s a performer who makes a difference!
Adam Lambert’s talent is a gift from God. He is absolutely wonderful! I pray that he will win, because he deserves it. It shouldn’t matter if he is Jewish, Christian or none of the above. If he is the best, he should be duly rewarded for it. AND HE IS THE BEST!!!!
I feel compelled to respond to Carla and anyone else who thinks there is some kind of “Christian conspiracy” against Adam. How ridiculous. Please give us some credit - we love all of God’s people. I, too, like millions of others, have become mesmerized by this super-talented singer/performer and have gotten on the Adam train. I am a 56 yr. old straight female, white, Christian, with children a little older than Lambert. He caught my eye from the beginning (and he could actually move well, too!), and he sealed the deal for me with his “Ring of Fire”. I’ve watched American Idol for 7-1/2 years and this guy is amazing. I love his voice and the originality and feeling he puts into his singing, during which he wears his heart on his sleeve. His talent really transcends any boundaries. He is conscious of actually performing, and delivers every time, making it fun and enjoyable for the audience and those of us at home. And he’s got the pipes to do it. Forget about saying he could sing the phone book - he could sing the obituaries and you’d love it. Even his “rock scream” doesn’t sound like an actual scream, like other performers often do. I don’t know what he does, but his sounds more artistic. On a personal level, he seems very humble, genuine, nice & respectful of others. I like how he shows appreciation to the band and appreciation for the judges’ compliments. He is polished and professional. Sure, I have to admit, I’d like it if he was Christian (please, please, no offense is meant to any non-Christian, Jewish or otherwise), and to know for sure that he is straight (please, again, no offense meant). But at the end of the day, this is just a singing and talent competition, and as such, he is the one I want to see each week, and the one I most enjoy seeing each week. And, I believe, the one who should win. When I go to see a movie, I don’t over-analyze or judge the background of the director or the actors - if I like and want to see the movie, and I think it will be good, I go see it. Same with any clothes, perfume, furniture, car, etc. I buy - I don’t analyze/judge the background of the designer/maker, I buy it if I like it. Short of seeing him kill a puppy on TV or doing something satanic, I’ll be voting for him in the finale!! By the way, check out his “Come to Me, Bend to Me” from Brigadoon on YouTube. He is a beautiful and brilliant singer and his talent is undeniable. Shalom to my Jewish brothers and sisters. Thank you for allowing us to post our comments. It is very much appreciated. Please join me in praying for peace in the world for all of us!
Isn’t funny to hear people say idiotic things like Adam isn’t Jewish…YES HE IS, whether he practices or not. I also would vote for him not matter what he was because he is the best voice since the first AI!
Oye Vey All OF YOU!
Adam is a person, an Earthling. He is not from the Planet Jew, nor the Planet Christian, nor the Planet Muslim. He is from Earth, the same place as all of you.
I am a unidentified flying alien who has hitched a ride in the cargo bay of the Space Shuttle. My unidentified flying plant is an unpleasent place to live. All we do is argue.
I have come to Earth to learn about your Planet. We want to know if Earth is a better place to live.
I have some questions. Where are your origins? My Guidebook says Earthlings started somewhere down there, down on one of these brown and green patches, didn’t you? My Guidebook also says from the beginning, Jews and Arabs were cousins… now that is family. Judging from the size of your Planet, close family…
Part II says that that the Christiandom was built from admiration of an Israelite, a Jew… and that makes all of you a bigger family. Correct me if I am wrong.
I don’t understand why it matters what religion Adam is since you are all family and come from the same Earthling Family Tree.
Life forms in my unidentified flying planet do not sing, they plunk around looking for vocal emanation that can reach a 4 octive range, hit high C’s, E’s, F’s and maybe even G force with Pythagorean enlightenment.
Sooo… the search is on. I have been wearing my audio implants and channeling Adam singing in Hebrew, Adam singing Broadway, Adam singing Rock… and that Earthling really can sing! Why does it make a difference what patch of Philosophy has been generated in his genes? My take is just that Adam is an Earthling that REALLY CAN SING… You are fortunate that you have such a treasure. I think Lambert Universal Surround Sound is what our habitat needs. Earthlings, Vote for Adam!
You have written a letter to the Jewish Journal. Shouldn’t you be reading the Alien Journal instead? Can’t Jews reading the Jewish Journal be proud of a fellow Jew in a Jewish Magazine? May we have no joy or sense of community like other people? Why is that? Stick to the Alien Journal!
Didn’t black people get excited over the campaign of Obama because he was black? Didn’t they have a right to pull together and help get him elected and rejoice when he did? Were you all writing letters then, criticizing them for their pride?
Me thinks our little alien is a really a person of great Jewish pride but resents the arguement of whether a person is a half a Jew or a whole Jew, whether a mother or father were Jewish, that a Muslim was surprised that Adam was Jewish and that a Christian was going to vote for Adam anyway.
It just goes to show ya how polarized the world has become. Maybe the world has become too confusing a place for all of us. Maybe, in order to understand the world, we have to compartmentalize each other and stick a label on the box so that we can endeavor to undertand each other in our virtual minds… You are that and I am this.. and you are in my group… so I have pride..
This happens to be a marker in adolescent Ego psychology. Adolescents find the world a confusing place, so they have to divide things into more easily understandable groups… ie: you are a preppy, you are a skin head, and I am not…
You who have responded to the Alien have taken, psychologically a defensive position as if the Alien were attacking Jewishness. The alien is looking at Earth from a different point of paralax and saying any heritage should be celebrated, as well as your own, when we are lucky enough to have such a talented young man in our midst. Be grateful to G-d. Vote for your Jewish pride, Vote for your Earthling pride, and Vote for Adam.
Haha, SezWho. I can appreciate what you are saying, of course, and enjoyed your comments. The conflict, anger and trouble in this world is indeed enough to make one want to travel to another planet! But Jews have always had to exist in the shadows throughout the diaspora, fearful of bringing attention to themselves lest there be another pogrom or holocaust. Yesterday on AOL there was an article on AOL about a forthcoming book about Barbra Streisand that details affairs she had with other Hollywood stars. You should have seen how many comments on the article that used the word Jew or pig or ugly in describing Barbra Streisand. The hate continues, lets face it. I’m not ready to simply become a “human being” on this planet. Too many Jews are willing to do that, forgetting the lessons of our past. I want to enjoy being a Jew for a while, something others would deny us!
Kris, I certainly do understand the hate that exists.. and no one should forget lessons of the past… But we can not live in the past… For us to move mentally forward with intent, we need to back pack the things we need, remember the things we love, and bring all of that to a new place in the world, not unlike our ancestors who migrated out of Africa.
The Alien is not going to another planet. The Alien is visiting our Orbit and viewing Earth from a different point of Parallax… trying to understand what makes up Humanity. The Alien is not yet confused by our social confusion and bias.
Yes, history cries for the Diaspora.. Philosophy speaks to the peoples Fear and Trembling over the centuries.. that imperialistic control of society was achieved through the application of fear, torture and murder. Just ask Tom Hanks, Ron Howard, Steve Spielberg, Galileo and Jesus. They will agree with you.
However, as Adam sings in “Is Anybody Listening”.. the verse is “You can control my body, but you can not control my mind”... One must ask… so what has happened to the suppressed, controlled Jew? He/she has moved inward and has become a thinker, a doer, an achiever, a change agent, a person schooled in Metaphor, trained to ask questions and not just obey, perhaps a thinker one notch above the person who is not allowed to ponder, but must follow rules based on Fear…or else!
One should feel sorry for the Alien. It’s androgynous self is about to be polluted by the remnants of 2000 years of twisted, adulated history if it disembarks here. Me thinks he should stay in the Shuttle. That way, it’s mind can remain objective, and never question what really happened at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD that had such a profound effect on Humanity and our sensabilities.
Dear Alien,
It is a pleasure to hear from a such an intelligent, thoughtful and knowledgeable being. But for your own safety, you better stay on the shuttle or the earthlings may change your way of thought. Maybe it will be safe for you hear one day, but many of us must spread the word throughout the land, “Never Again!”
Can anyone else find anything to talk about on Adam..he is the best that idol has ever had and I have not read so much garbage about him…he is a beautiful talented person…they are trying there best so he cannot win idol which he deserves…he kept the show going and entertaining this year….vote for Adam…....
Don’t trust this alien for a second. He just wants all of humanity to get along, so we then destroy all of our weapons and are left defenseless when he and his kind invade Earth.
Hey u all Adam’s religion has no bearing on his amazing voice, and the outstanding performances he gives on Idol. I can tell u that I love Christian music, i love the inspirational words and music, makes no difference that Im jewish.. Adam if jewish, whether practicing or not is still considered a jew..and if so he should be proud of his heritage. Im sure that the GAY population will adopt him, and we are no different, being proud at the success of one of our own.
I love Barak Obama and im not black, but im sure millions of ppl worldwide were proud that he was, and the muslims too were happy to claim him..so why is this any different?
Of course, this is about his talent, not about his ethnicity, gender, or religion, but we are no different than any culture rooting for their favourite, and his being jewish makes it more about pride more than anything else.
Unless I am mistaken, this is called “Jewish Journal” and therefore it’s only natural that jews would gravitate here to give their opinion on Adam’s religion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I honestly dont understand why it bothers people that as Jews we are proud, and if Adam is jewish then more power to him. I love Kris Allen probably more and will definately buy his CDs should my being jewish be a consideration when purchasing a disc?
There is no relevance here except for a bunch of ppl getting together professing their pride, and they should be allowed to do so without being condemed or criticised for expressing themselves..have a goodday everyone and for godsakes calm down, there are more important things going on in the world..we all need to get a grip, we are in for a rough ride, this really is so miniscule in the grand scheme of life.
Hopefully Adam wins because of his impressive stage presence and talent, and not shot down by the likes of people like Bill O’Reilly who has pointed out on his show about Adam’s life style and his non - christian ways. Totally ridiculous that O’Reilly and others might try to sabotage this talented guy.
Ed, FYI, being “Jewish” isn’t like being a “christian”. Jewish is a religion and a heritage. Being christian is simply a religious following.
I consider myself an atheist jew because my relgious non-beliefs don’t change my blood and heritage.
I am Jewish, and a child takes the religion of their mother so Adam IS also Jewish. I have members of my family that are also Gay, so do these issues make him any less of an unbelievable singer that he is??? He deserves to win and if people are using his sexual identity and religion not to vote for him I find that very sad, actually more like it disgusting.
I’m a gay Jew from San Diego who thinks that Adam is a musical presence, regardless of whether we have in common 1, 2, or 3 things…or none.
I sure don’t have his talent.
So the Arkansas gentile beat the L.A. Jew. What a surprise! After all, didn’t you expect most of Danny Gokey’s votes to go to Adam? Hmmm, I thought Adam had a way better voice, as did the judges. What do you think happened?
Ryan S. What happened is simple mathematics. Last week, there were 88 M votes for the top 3. The top two contenders had only a million votes between them. The votes could have been 27M+ for Danny and the top two could have gotten a combined total votes of 61M (30M for the second contender and 31M for one who garnered the highest number of votes.) You could play with other combinations but however the figures would come out, Kris would still garner the highest number of votes. The votes in the finale (just under 100M) is record-breaking but it was only about 10% more than last week’s vote count. Even if all of those additional vote counts went to Adam Lambert (about 9M+), Kris would still be ahead. As stated in numerous fansites and blogs in the internet, it was almost guaranteed that 100% of the supporters of Danny Gokey would be handing in their votes in a silver platter not at all to Adam but to Kris.
But I am very happy with the results. Adam need not include in his forthcoming album the lame “No Boundaries.” And already The Adam Lambert Concert Tour is awaited all over the world (reservations are now being accepted at certain concert ticket sites.) Let America have their sweet country singer Kris. And let the world receive and celebrate the next rock icon Adam Lambert!
I’m so very disappointed that Adam didn’t win American Idol. When will this show become about talent and not popularity (Taylor Hicks and Sanjaya)? He was by far the most outstanding vocalist and performer Idol has ever had! I’m a evangelical Christian and I’ve supported him since the very beginning. His talent is amazing and it appears that he has worked very hard to establish himself as a performer. My 20 year daughter is a performer and I understand the dedication that is required.
It does not matter to me if Adam is gay and I believe that anyone should be proud of their Jewish heritage. If Christians voted against Adam because they believe he may be gay or Jewish, then I am ashamed of that mindset.
We’ve seen that you don’t have to take 1st place on AI to become a star in your own right and I pray that is Adam’s future. I’m also glad he doesn’t have to hear himself singing that awful “No Boundaries” on the radio! He’s the only reason I bought Idol tour tickets and I’ll certainly be in line to buy tickets to his first concert. Break a leg, Adam!
My point was America just couldn’t elect the far better singer either because he was Jewish, gay, or both. Even in interviews, I heard Phil Stacey, Chris Richardson and even Chris Daughtry say they favored Kris, who turned “What’s Goin’ On” into a smilin’ hootenanny. It’s just the old boy network. Adam blew Kris away. At least Kris was as much of a mensch as Adam throughout the show.
Oh come on Ryan S., you must be kidding! 99% of voters had no idea Adam was Jewish, and probably just as many didn’t care. Remember, 3 of the 8 Idol winners so far have been Black, and somehow that was OK. Considering Jews have done far better than Blacks in winning actual elections for the Senate, Congress, etc. (OK, except for the Presidency that last time) I kind of doubt anyone’s Jewishness would play a part in the A.I. voting.
Respectfully, you’re wrong!
Arr, what am I wrong about? Do you know even know what country you’ve living in? The President’s Black, Jews make up 14% of the Senate, and 44% of those who are under 18 years of age are not even White. Get in touch with 2009 America. Stop living in the 1950s.
The President is black, not Jewish, nor has there ever been a Jewish president. Just because some progressive states can elect a Jewish senator, it does mean the United States can elect a Jewish president (or an American idol.) The fact that 44 % of those under 18 years of age are non-white may insure that there will never be a Jewish president or idol. How does a large “minority” population improve the odds of the election of an American president? I’m in touch with 2009 America and it holds Israelis and Jews to a different standard than ever other country in the world. Remember all the Jews who fought valiantly in WWI, only to be sent to the ovens? They thought it could never could happen to them. Although the election of an American Idol may seem insignificant, America could not vote for someone who was clearly the superior singer—because he was gay and because he was a Jew. The vote wasn’t even close.
Recently AOL posted an article about a forthcoming book about Barbra Streisand, detailing her many alleged affairs. You should see how many online comments called her a typical “Jew”, a “New York Jew” and most frequently, a “Pig.”
In Philadelphia, the ownership of the Philadelphia Eagles and its GM is a Jew. Despite being one of the most successful franchises in the NFL for the last decade, you should see the online comments on the sports “boards.” The word Jew and cheap shows up over and over again—in sports blogs!
This is why Adam didn’t win. Mike, dream on! Try walking through Arkansas wearing a kippah!
Oh, I see, so while America loves Blacks, they hate Jews. Brilliant thesis, but it doesn’t quite match America’s history (like, oh, that the Secretary of State of the Confederacy was a Jew and I don’t have to tell you why a Black man would not be in that position; or that Americans nominated a half-Jewish man for President, Barry Goldwater, 44 years before they did a half-Black man; it would have been an absurd thought that a half-Black man would be the Presidential nominee in 1964).
I know you’ll dismiss it, but the Gallup poll had over 90% of answerers saying they’d vote for a Jew for President. The “would vote” for a Black man for President was about as close. It was in the 80% for a Woman, and 71% for a Mormon (and I think Hilary and Mitt Romney could have gotten elected). Of course you would say that people on the poll lied, but then wouldn’t they have lied about electing a Black too?
And besides, in 1965, the result of a similar poll was 80% would vote for a Jew (and I think 50-something for a black, showing the progress we’ve made there since then). Since people were not quite as politically correct back then and had no reason to lie, why was the result still so high?
I’m sorry, but this “persecution mentality” is absurd, though I know it (the mentality) exists.
All of this is completely irrelevant to Lambert, because no one even knew he was Jewish. It certainly wasn’t mentioned by any mainstream news sources, nor did he ever say it, nor does his name sound like it, and if you want to go by looks, well, Kris Allen is the one who looks fairly Jewish.
BTW, as to your Arkansas comment, that’s another one from the Culture War playbook. You know, the ADL regularly, per year, records hundreds of anti-Semitic incidents (verbal and/or physical) in Northeastern states, while such incidents in Southern states are usually in the single digits. The over-representation in Northeastern states exists even if you adjust for the smaller number of Jews in Southern states (and you don’t always have to adjust; in 2003, for example, Connecticut had something like 79 recorded incidents while Virginia had, er, 11. They both have roughly the same amount of Jews, 100,000, though the non-Jewish population in Virginia is higher than in CT). So, uh, try walking through Connecticut with a kippah? Doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it?
As for message boards - if 1 in 100 comments is anti-Semitic, that’s pretty good. And Barbra Streisand IS a pig, though I don’t know what that has to do with her being Jewish. BTW, the demographics of a message board are hardly representative of the U.S. as a whole.
Mike, what are you, a walking talking encyclopedic apologist for anti-semitism? The statistics just fly off your tongue! I suspect, however, you are a Jew who would defend every ethnic and religious group but your own, an affliction quite common in Jewish America. It’s not so prevalent in Israel, however, and that’s why they get the reputation as “pushy” and “arrogant.” You’re still trying to keep your Judaism “quiet.” In the 19th and early 20th century, reform Judaism totally rejected the formation of Israel and a homeland for persecuted Jews. It is thinking like yours that made this faulty and sickening perspective possible.
And why would you call Barbra Streisand a pig? What did she ever do to anybody to warrant that anti-semitic description other than make many Jewish people proud? Your use (and others) of the word pig about her remind me of Antiochus running pigs through the temple to desecrate it. I don’t recall too many other movie stars being called a pig!
Either you are a Jew who is ashamed of his heritage, or an anti-ADL propagandist from one of the many anti-semitic organizations that (to your surprise, I’m sure) exist today.
There has still never been a Jewish president, a Jewish Vice-President, or a Jewish American Idol, and anti-semitism still exists throughout the world and to a lesser degree in our past, our country.
BTW, Barry Goldwater was not a Jew but an Episcopalian. Judah Benjamin, the Jewish Confederate, was not an elected official, never spoke of his Jewish background, and resigned in disgrace as a result of anti-semitism—blamed for the Confederate army’s failures. Mike, it is you who must get their facts straight!
Where did I apologize for anyone’s anti-Semitism? Quite the opposite. What I don’t like is anti-Semitism being branded on these mythical, bigoted “middle Americans” who are supposedly out there somewhere hating everybody and everything, and none of them could possibly live in New York! And I’m certainly pro-Israel. My point of view is that in today’s America, it’s the anti-Semites who are the “minority”, not the Jews. Another part of what I spoke out against was the perception that Southerners hate Jews yet Northeners in “progressive states” just love them. Well, most of those anti-Israel lefties live in your so-called “progressive states”, and most of these message board posts you’re talking about, I suspect, don’t come from Arkansas.
As for Streisand, I don’t see how a being called a “pig” is an anti-Semitic comment. I know that it used to be a slur for a policeman. Streisand has never made me proud - all she is, is a crude New York Jewish stereotype like Woody Allen. Thanks to her and Allen, the only representations that Hollywood throws out of Jews are similar New York caricatures. Anytime there’s a female Jewish character anywhere who isn’t a New York stereotype like Streisand (and this is rare), some critic somewhere has to write that this character is “not convincing” as Jewish. Thanks a lot, Babs. (None of this, btw, stopped Streisand from easily being the biggest female movie star of the 1970s).
And yeah, I do throw out statistics. I find they may be more factually based than these “this is my opinion” statements that you’re operating on.
Judah Benjamin was appointed, sure, but no Black man could have been appointed to that post, and you know that. Yes, Barry Goldwater was an Episcopalian (with a Jewish father). But so what? Anyone who hates Jews on a racial rather than religious basis wouldn’t care. Do you really think people who hate Jews would’ve said “Oh, well, his mother wasn’t Jewish, so it’s OK by us”. Goldwater’s brother, in fact, was at several points not allowed into certain country clubs because he was half-Jewish, and yet here was his brother getting the Pres. nomination. And “Goldwater” would probably sound like a fairly Jewish name to most voters (unlike, er, “Lambert”).
So what if there’s never been a Jewish President or Vice-President? There’s never been a Lutheran President either, or a Mormon, or an Italian-American (not to mention a woman, or a man with two Black parents).
Besides, only three Jews have ever run for the nomination for President. Milton Shapp had a lot of problems, Arlen Specter was a liberal Republican so he had no shot, and as for Joe Lieberman - well, not a single losing Vice Presidential candidate who hadn’t already served as VP has ever gotten the nomination 4 years after their defeat, and Lieberman was no exception (not to mention he was for the Iraq War, which killed his initial lead in the polls). Besides, Lieberman and Gore won the popular vote, and there was no hint of anti-Semitism towards their campaign. And regardless of what you say, the fact that 14 current Senators are Jewish (one was appointed) does mean something, considering there have only been 5 Black senators in the entire history of the U.S. BOTH Senators from Wisconsin are Jewish, and that’s a state with less than a 1% Jewish population. Can you name a single other group that has achieved this (winning both Senate races with under 1% representation in that state) at any point in U.S. history? Of course not.
If you really think Americans just love to elect Black people to everything but not Jews, you’re the one who’s dreaming. I think you need to stop underestimating Americans and look at the glass as half full, because it’s actually quite a bit fuller than that.
OK Mike, I give up. In the future, please use your considerable brains to further Jewish interests, not deny them. Thank you for the informed conversation, however. Gloria and PatCanada, you are good people.
And finally, Adam was robbed!
I think everyone is taking this way too seriously. Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe people actually LIKE Kris? That there’s not something wrong with the millions who voted for him? I happened to favor Adam, but I still like Kris and am happy for him. And as an Orthodox Jew, I really don’t think race, religion, or sexuality has anything to do with American Idol.
Oh, and whoever was comparing Idol to the government, they are two very different things with very different voting systems, and therefore practically incomparable.
This is the most appropriate comment made:-
Let America have their sweet country singer Kris. And let the world receive and celebrate the next rock icon Adam Lambert!

Adam is undoubtedly THE man.
Thank you PatCanada for telling the world how we all feel.
Adam’s talent is God-given and yes, re the Comment by Annette on 5/08/09 at 1:41 am
......I too shall continue to need a daily ‘Adamfix’ for a very long time to come.
WE HAVE NOT HAD SOME ONE LIKE ADAM, SINCE ELVIS AND FREDDIE…. the world will get to know this.
LINMAR, UK
I think the main reason Adam was robbed of his AI title is his sexuality, not his religion - i only found out about him being Jewish a few days ago when it was on the cover of an Israeli teen magazine.. don’t think him being a Jew was as known as the pictures of him in drag kissing another man, and the lather is what caused conservative America to vote for Kris and not for him.
).
As an Israeli Jewish lesbian, i thought Adam would win and prove that all that matters is one’s talent rather than their sexuality and religion, but i was proved wrong.
The only consolation is knowing that no matter what, Adam is etremely talented and has a bright future ahead of him (can’t wait for him to release an album, and maybe he might even come to Israel for a concert!
Anyway, what i was saying is, the reason he didn’t win is because he’s gay. Maybe if he was Jewish and straight, he would’ve stood a chance… :\
As evolved as we like to think we are in the US, and especially in the entertainment biz, homophobia is alive and well. Sure, if Adam also sang with a quirky crooked jaw, was honeymooning with his virginal child bride and was from Arkansas, he would have won…or maybe if it had been solely based on talent. Just like with the chunky little teen Olympic gymnist winning Dancing with the Stars over the hands-down better-dancing Frenchman, it was more of an All-American popularity contest where Jewish, Gay or Foreign superior talent has little to do with it in the end.
Yawn, Rick, yawn. A Jewish woman won Dancing with the Stars just last season (Brooke Burke). Grow up.
hi.. i’m from israel and i wanna tell you that a lot of people love adam here!!!! he is a great singer and i’m sure he will succeed!! :]]
Mike, I’ve got to hand it to you. You are an incredibly bright bulldog. Keep up the good work!
Go eat a dick, “George Lincoln Rockwell”.
BTW, I just looked up the past winners of Dancing with the Stars, and I was simply stunned at how decisively they proved that “Rick” and his kind are mentally retarded. Get this: the bigoted, foaming-at-the-mouth racist American people voted in a Black man (Emmitt Smith), an Italian-American (Kelly Monaco), a biracial half-Asian American (Apolo Anton Ohno), a foreigner from Brazil (Hélio Castroneves), yet another Asian American (Kristi Yamaguchi), and the aforementioned Jewish woman, the beautiful Brooke Burke.
So Shawn Johnson is, in fact, only the second Anglo-Saxon to win “Dancing” (Drew Lachey was the first).
However, unlike Rick, I consider all of the above (except for the Brazilian, I guess) to be “All-American”.
I’m so sick of people hating Adam if they don’t like him then don’t listen to his music.I’ve been a HUGE fan of Adam since I saw him in Wicked LA I saw him twice as a backup dancer and once as Fiyero and when I first heard his voice I was blown away instantly and his good looks and super sweet personality also charmed me as well.I did meet him after I saw him as Fiyero and he’s a sweetheart I asked him for a kiss on the cheek and he gave me one he didn’t say like “oh I’m sorry I can’t give you one because you’re a girl” no he gave me one so therefore I think he’s bi.I’m glad he’s proud of being Jewish because I was born in the West Valley of LA which has a Jewish population but I’m not Jewish because my mom’s a Christian and my dad’s a New England Catholic and I do consider myself Catholic but not practicising and not that religious,I have though been to a couple of Catholic church services for family friends kids christenings, first communions and my dad and I always do what they do there.I’m so sick of these stupid Church groups hating on him and the girls in my drama class don’t like him because they think he’s scary and they voted for Kris and I’m the only girl in the class that loves Adam and has met him when he was undiscovered.People should learn to not judge a book by it’s cover when it comes to Adam because he’s a very handsome, talented, cute and super sweet guy and so what if he’s not a christian how white washed is America? honestly it’s 2009 not the 1950’s
YAY HES JEWISH!
American Idol is over for season 8 and Kris Allen is the “Idol”. I wanted Kris to win; even though I thought Adam was extremely good and deserved to win as much(if not more)than Kris; but I liked Kris also as to me he was the under-dog whom I like to vote for. I knew about the Christian “undercurrent” during the latter part of Idol’s season 8. But hearing Kris say in his comments right after winning that religion should have nothing to do with the winner. As Kris said this isn’t about religion and sure hoped that it didn’t have any bearing as it’s all about singing and the music. And he was so right. What a shock to me being Jewish,to learn Adam is Jewish. And has performed in “The Ten Commandments at the Kodak theater as well as sang “Shir LeShalom” at a tribute to the slain Prime
Minister of Israel,Yizthak Rabin. I think it’s pretty
cool that the runnerup of Idol Adam Lambert whose largest platform was performing at synagogues singing Kol Nidre was now singing on the most successful show on television.
Let’s face it; Adam Lambert is a person who was somewhat known prior to Idol. Idol just set the stage
for Adam Lambert AND Kris Allen. And they are both nice guys who seem to really like each other (as per the Larry King review with Ryan Seacrest sitting in for
Larry. They are both winners.
I just need to know what does it matter if he is Jewish, he is great.
there is no reason to think that adam lost because of his religion. that was taken way out of context. i am christian, and i was rooting for adam the whole way. so dont think this is a matter of prejustice!
tokyowoman, you’re right about his galent being God-given. It’s so sad that he doesn’t believe in or serve the God who gave him that talent.
I just finished reading all of the books in the Twilight Series and the leading character Edward was described as looking so exactly how Adam looks. While watching Adam sing the past month on AI I just could not resist think again and again that if they made another movie of the Twilight Series they should cast Adam in the part of Edward and make it a musical. Anyone else find this to be true?
Good Earthlings,
I have just completed another orbit around your planet. I see that Adam has not won American Idol. I have read your discussions as your social positioning is interesting to me. You think Adam was supposed to “win”, and you believe this “loss” may be due to an anti-Semitic, anti-gay, anti-Adam and pass the Danny vote to Kris technology effort as devised by the not so secret Earthling Divisive Social Action Committee…
Perhaps Not! Perhaps it was a clever business move by clever business people…
My Intergalactic Cathode Ray Tube Twitter tells me that 19 Entertainment is about making money. May I read you my Log? As my orbit passed over the 19 Entertainment habitat, I aimed my Twitter. I accomplished a virtual pass into the Board Room, and frankly, the humanoids there were pacing back and forth pondering the financial success of the election outcome.
I turned up the volume on My Twitter Translator…
“…. And what are we going to do…... Hummmm… If Adam wins, we have a mega star with the title, undoubtedly with resounding financial success. Kris is the Runner Up. Hummmmm…. What will Kris be able to accomplish for us? Hummmm. Kris, after the tour, may fade into a wandering southern minstrel… Ahhh… The financial return will be limiting. If Kris wins, we have a title holder until his star fades. If Adam is the runner up, there will be such social angst, a Super Nova is born… Hummm… better return. More money with that result. Let us make it so. Hummmm Sacrifice Adam for the sake of our bankers. We will declare that Kris has won.. Hummmm….
Earthings, you say… But you voted! You invested your time and money in the voting process. However, my intergalactic tweets tell me that 19 Entertainment has not even reported the disparity between the two totals! In fact, 19, despite previous Android Seacrest announcements, has not reported any numerical results for the finale, other than a declaration that Kris had won…
I am very puzzled. Why would you think that Adam lost due to a vote? I am told that investors on Earth, expect to see validated returns. Why is this time/money effort different? Have you accepted the idea of no output data available? Very interesting!
19 Entertainment is asking you to have Faith. They are asking you just to Believe in what they say, and in this case, they declare. They do not care if your media asks questions as 19 Entertainment does not entertain the idea of answers.. In fact, the Orthodoxy is just that you have to Believe…. and they will twist and turn the PR Testament Results so you will believe what they have declared.
Sound Familiar? From our vantage point in the Universe, we see that within the cycles of time, history does repeat itself, especially when there is a culture of Earthlings conditioned and predisposed to just have faith.
Is Adam’s fate a social issue? I think not. I think Adam’s fate is clever business…. And Adam is smiling all the way to his financial officer.. Maybe your very talented Adam is playing the Game faster and smarter, he has learned the thoughtful lessons of his ancestors and has become a very wise Jew….
You see, IT works for him…
Adam Lambert is a gift to us all. May he be blessed, and may we appreciate his person and his talent.
I believe AI contestants are judged on their ability to be marketable. Adam Lambert doesn’t need to win AI to become the next rock star. He most definitely is on his way.
Like Clay Aiken, Adam did not need to win AI to be a successful artist.
It has nothing to do with religion or sexual orientation!!!
BTW, I think it is perfectly OK for Jewish people to be proud of another Jew. I find nothing wrong with ANY group being ethnocentric as long as they don’t hurt anyone else. We should all be proud of our “group’s” accomplishments. Let other peoples celebrate that “one of their own” is such an amazing performer. I am proud to be American, is that OK?
You betcha. I am proud to be a mother, an English Professor, an American, a cancer survivor, a Christian, and an Adam Mitchel Lambert supporter who loves music. Is that okay with you?
SD, I’m so glad you find it OK for Jewish people to be proud of another Jew. After all, this is the Jewish Journal. You quickly threw in “I am proud to be American, is that OK? Why did you ask that? Did someone here say it wasn’t? Were you trying to say that although it is ok for a Jew to be proud of a fellow Jew, it was a little unpatriotic to talk in those terms? And how do you know that the voting for an American idol has nothing to do with religion or sexual orientation? I happen to think it does. How many openly gay members of the House and Senate are there? OK? These are good things for proud Americans and proud Jews to discuss. OK?
I’m a 68 year old woman and TiVoed AI to watch Adam Lambert again and again. Ring of Fire - I watched it again this morning. It’s not a teen crush, it’s a soul crush! I want to see Adam more!! When will he be back on TV so I can gaze at his beautiful face and let his voice melt my heart! Adam won me over after every song, also, with his genuine smile. This is not a snotty conceited singer - he knows he’s singing the glory of mankind and he’s SO happy after he does it, he just glows. Yes, like everyone else, it’s fine with me whatever his ancestry and sexuality is. I’d like to know more, because it’s interesting, not to judge. I have not felt about a performing artist the way I feel about Adam…. EVER! In my 68 years. So you know he has to be something special! Being an artist, I feel his art to my core. More Adam! More Adam! More Adam! (couldn’t BELIEVE he didn’t win!)
Wendalore
I AM A JEW FROM ISRAEL AND AM SOOOO PROUD THAT ADAM IS JEWISH!!! i fell inlove with him in the beginning and then found out he is jewish which even made me more proud he’s one of us! GO ADAM!!!
Ok. here’s the deal for non-jews who get uptight over stuff like this: for jews, this is ‘cool’. It’s cool for jews who live daily lives in a christian world to have another jew get some kudos. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just one of those ‘jewish’ things. Can ya get with this? Nobody here is saying Adam Lambert is now a superior or inferior being, they’re just saying, ‘hey, he’s a jew!’ and they smile.
Honestly, this is NOT a big deal.. it’s just the way we jews do things. We hear a little story where jews are not the ugly ones and we get happy. We find out there’s a hot young superstar who’s filled to the brim with talent and we say: Yeah. This is ‘cool’.
It’s not a biggie. It’s not political. The jews are not making him the poster boy for judiaism. They’re just happy to see that a positive thing is happening, as opposed to all the hatred and BS that is the constant.
Do you understand what I’m saying?
Now that’s the emmis!!!
Neo, that is the best post I’ve ever read. Brilliant and funny. Very cool. You should write a book.
Heh, thanks A.S.!
wow… just look how much comments for a little thing..(that adam is jewish)
well.. im jewish,I live in israel, and i watch american idol .. since the final of the show i didnt know hes jew.. and yeah i was proud.. i wont lie ..
he also was the best singer over there.. some people thinks that hes even better than elvis presly.. maybe yes and no.. i dont think you need to judge him because hes jewish. maybe some of you hates us (the jews) maybe some of you dont. what im tryin to say, that it doesnt matter if you’re jewish or christian whats matter is if you are super tallented, ambitious, have enough passion and desire you can win american idol..i think that maybe he didnt win because the anti-Semitism, cause hes really a big star !
I am CATHOLIC Adam is a gift from God enjoy his talent and let him live his diversity long live Adam Lambert
I wasn’t aware that Adam Lambert’s last name was Jewish and I’m not an anti-semitic person either….just curious is all

After having read the dialogue between Mike and Ryan S. in the bogs above I wish to ask or perhaps I should say comment about the inference that there has never been a Jewish President. I have always been under the impression that FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT was Jewish ... is this not so?
I haven’t heard anything about Adam lately. I wonder what he have been doing.
Adam is really talented there’s no question on that. I really love the first video.
Adam’s recent performance is typical of the type of Jewish culture that the Jewish dominated media wants to impose upon the goys.
What a pervert this Adam is, like most jews that get a kick out of turning a people’s culture and values upside down.
Mein Herr Horst & Rob, What are you Nazis doing on this site?
Adam Lambert a Jew. Didn’t see that one coming. The Antichrist will probably be a Jew also. That’s the Lambert energy. Israel’s idol worship destroyed him before and now we prepare for the BIG ONE. The portico of Solomon’s temple falls for the last time. No more Baal worship.
I am glad you too noted the tone of Aya’s message. I thought maybe I was being sensitive, but I guess not. I am not sure why this man’s religion is even a factor in whether or not he should win. It is disappointing that this is such an issue in this day and age. I happy to be a huge fan of Danny Gokey and I am Jewish.
I love his voice and the originality and feeling he puts into his singing, during which he wears his heart on his sleeve. His talent really transcends any boundaries. He is conscious of actually performing, and delivers every time, making it fun and enjoyable for the audience and those of us at home.
