Judy Toll is one funny valentine
She's the funniest woman you never heard of
(Page 2 - Previous Page)
As her illness worsened, a looming finality informed her acts. A self-professed "professional dater," Toll went on JDate and met Richard Trank, the Academy Award-winning producer of "The Long Way Home.""She was very much a searcher," Kamenoff said. "And the love she found with Rick I think was a big missing piece for her."
At her wedding, the bewigged bride walked down the aisle to "I Feel Pretty."
So what can you say about a 44-year-old comedian who died? That she leaves a certain legacy of laughter, through the efforts of her brother, to those who never heard of her.
To her friends, Gary Toll's document is "a valentine," Kamenoff said
"Judy and I spoke on the phone like high school girls," she confided. "Giggling on the floor for hours with our feet in the air like 'Bye Bye Birdie.' Hanging up, her signature farewell was always: 'Gotta run doll. Call me every five minutes.'"
"Judy Toll: The Funniest Woman You've Never Heard Of" will be screened Friday, May 2, at 8 p.m. at the Los Angeles Film School Theater, 6363 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles. Free. Donations accepted the night of the show will benefit the John Wayne Cancer Institute.
