Hillary Clinton’s New York primary win and her campaign’s outreach effort to the Empire State’s Jewish community has only done well for her image as she readies for a general election face-off with Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.
According to this month’s Siena Research poll, published on Tuesday, Clinton leads Trump 56 to 30 percent in a head-to-head matchup in the fall. Her lead over Trump is larger among Jewish voters in the state – 62 percent vs. 23 percent.
In 2012, President Barack Obama beat Republican Mitt Romney among Jewish voters in New York by a 52-41 percentage point margin, according to the RJC’s “>played a role in putting Obama over the top, will likely give Clinton a resounding victory in the fall.
Trump boasted that he has “many Jewish friends” in a meeting with members of the Jewish media at Trump Tower last month. ”I’ve always been your friend, even at the toughest moments. And that’s not going to change,” Trump told Israel Hayom earlier this year.
