Is anyone else having trouble hearing the service? Volume turned up all the way.
I met Debbie when i was 14. I was a part of Temple Youth Group and she was at our conventions, teaching us her songs, helping us to understand the prayers, making them all accessible to us in a way they never had ever been. Now people everywhere sing and pray in shul because of her. That time in my life was the best, and though she will be greatly missed, she lives on forever.
Thank you for airing the funeral. I, along with 6,000 others had the opportunity to participate even though we could not be there personally.
What a beautiful service…....thank you for allowing us to be a part of it.
Rest In Peace, dear lady..You and all of your work shall be celebrated for generations.
Thank you so very much for airing the funeral service for Debbie. It ment so much to me, to be able to connect with her friends and family while I am here in NY. She is the inspiration of my life work and my journey which I share with my family and communuty. I am forever greatful for her spirit and soul!
I have sung with Debbie from the audience of my shul and with her tapes and CD’s. There is an hole in my heart now, but I am so greatful that she did leave so much of herself behind for us. Maybe God needed her more than we, and I pray our memories and her music will help console all who mourn for her. Rest in peace, Debbie, and my deepest and most sincere condolences to her family and friends and all who loved her, worldwide.
From the moment I first heard Debbie sing on “Tov Lanu Lashir” as my friends (lucky enough to be attending Camp Swig in Saratoga, CA) accompanied her in song - I felt an immediate connection to Debbie, her incredible music, and to my own Jewish identity. Since then, I was blessed to participate in three of her concerts and experience her energy and spirit first-hand. May G-d comfort her mother, sister and whole family - along with the countless other friends, colleagues and those like me who carry her with us in our iPods and in our hearts! Thank you for bringing my neshama back to life Debbie. Rest in Shalom.
To Cheryl, and all of Debbie’s family and extended family of friends, I am so sorry.
To Debbie’s entire family, my heartfelt wishes for strength from your memories and the knowledge that the whole Jewish community grieves with you. I only met Debbie personally briefly but attended several concerts and Women’s Seders, with and without her presence. I know well many who knew her well and her impact on them, and consequently on us, is profound.
It was the most moving farewell to witness, and a testimony to Debbie and to all of you.
May Hashem comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
When my 7 year old started crying tonight that she wished she was the Bat Mitzvah girl who sang with Debbie in November at Shir Ha Ma’alot, I truly understood what a gift Debbie has give to all generations. You are a blessing… May you rest in peace!
She popularized liturgy to educate many. Music gladdens the heart. How counter to a funeral music is. It does not allow one to really experience the profound loss.
She was an inspiration, a voice of equality, love, feminism and Jewish community building. I’m in tears - she touched so many lives, and her music guided so many childhoods. Her music was a soundtrack to my childhood and some of the best family moments. What a loss, but her contribution will live on. Rest in peace.

And You Shall Be a Blessing - we in Gainesville, Florida mourn the passing of Debbie.
Rest in peace Debbie, and know that your music and life will live on in our hearts.
I have one Jewish music CD. It is of Debbie Friedman. I shall treasure it, always.
I do not believe in God, but I do believe in Debbie Friedman.
Debbie’s liturgy was a part of my Havdalah service as I stood before my congregation at age 40 to become a BatMitzvah. Her liturgy and music has always beeen a part of all my Temple services that I attended. Her music was a part of my father’s funeral and will remain a part of me always. May her music fill the heavens beyond for her ound will remain with us always. R.I.P beautiful soul.

I am one of thousands who has been touched by the lyrics and music of Debbie Friedman over the years. I have all of her tapes, which will now serve as a reminder of not only her lovely, spiritual contributions, but also of the untimely loss of a “Jewish saint”. Her memory will be a blessing for others, and may her family find comfort in knowing how many people she touched in her brief life on this earth
