“The Invisible War”

Join us for this screening of the groundbreaking investigative documentary “The Invisible War,” which won the Audience Award at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. The film’s producer, Amy Ziering, will be on hand to answer questions.

From Oscar®- and Emmy®-nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick (“This Film Is Not Yet Rated” and “Twist of Faith”), “The Invisible War” exposes one of America’s most shameful and best-kept secrets: the epidemic of rape within the U.S. military. The film paints a startling picture of the extent of the problem. For example, today a female soldier in combat zones is more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire. The Department of Defense estimates there were a staggering 19,000 violent sex crimes in the military in 2010. “The Invisible War” breaks open one of the most under-reported stories of our generation, to the nation and the world. New Old Friends

I've recently become close with Abe and Frank, two older guys in my neighborhood. At 90 and 88 respectively, they’re not the typical age of my other friends. At first I wasn’t sure if it was friendship. Maybe they were just humoring me or passing the time. Why would old people want to be friends with me, a 35-year-old?
