TATTOOS AND ISRAEL’S WAR OF INDEPENDENCE

The evening will feature the following presentations:
*Personal Testimonies from Courageous Machal Volunteers from Overseas Who Helped Win Israel’s War of Independence in 1948
Machal is the name given to volunteers from abroad. There were over 3500 volunteers, Jews and non-Jews originating from more than 46 countries. 6300 people perished in Israel’s War of Independence, including 2000 civilians.
Personal testimonies will be given by two courageous Machal volunteers, Leon (Lee) Silverman and Max Barchichat with Stephanie Ronnet as the moderator. Stephanie Ronnet is the consulting producer of the film 804 that shows the essential role of South African volunteers who helped win Israel’s War of Independence in 1948.
