Six Million and One, an award-winning documentary by Israeli director David Fisher

Four siblings in search of history set out on a remarkable journey in this eloquent, intense and sometimes even humorous portrait of documentary filmmaker David Fisher, his sister and two of his brothers.  Together, they retrace the footsteps of their late father—a Holocaust survivor who was interned in Gusen and Gunskirchen, Austria.  Through the craft of Fisher’s storytelling, they become emblematic of the entire second generation.

“An emotional journey”  —Stephen Holden, The New York Times

“Six Million and One is magnificent. I laughed and cried, cried and laughed. It is very moving and very powerful. I learned a lot not only about the past, but about living with the past.”

—Michael Berenbaum, Professor of Jewish Studies, American Jewish University

New Old Friends

I've recently become close with Abe and Frank, two older guys in my neighborhood. At 90 and 88 respectively, they’re not the typical age of my other friends. At first I wasn’t sure if it was friendship. Maybe they were just humoring me or passing the time. Why would old people want to be friends with me, a 35-year-old?
