ROSH HASHANA - A secular observance
A cultural celebration for all ages, with readings and songs. Bring a picnic for your family and dessert to share; we will provide the apples and honey.

For more than sixty years, the Sholem Community has warmly welcomed cultural Jews and diverse families from a wide variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds to our secular holiday observances, educational programs and social activities. Sholem’s nonreligious Sunday school for children aged 4 to 14 offers a curriculum emphasizing Jewish history, culture, traditions, and the progressive ideals that shape our identity and values as a people. Our principal and education director, along with a professional staff of six classroom teachers and two music teachers, create a classroom environment that focuses on active, project-based learning.
Sholem also offers a thoughtful, creative, and personalized bar/bat mitzvah program; opportunities for teenagers to take responsibility for helping run the community as teachers’ assistants, music leaders, and more; as well as our monthly “Bagels ‘n Blox” parent/toddler group. While Sunday school classes are in session, adults may socialize and attend stimulating lectures on Jewish history and culture, as well as other topics of interest.
Sholem meets most Sunday mornings on the campus of Westside Neighborhood School in Playa Vista. We offer rolling admission throughout our September-June school year. Come check us out—all are welcome!
