Description

U.S. premiere! Journey through a three-dimensional landscape of striking architecture in this career- spanning exhibition of Moshe Safdie’s work. Global Citizen: The Architecture of Moshe Safdie surveys the renowned architect’s career from his formative period in the 1960s and early 1970s to his recent projects around the world. Impressive scale models demonstrate the scope and design of some of his most famous structures such as Habitat ’67 in Montreal, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas, Ben Gurion International Airport and Yad Vashem Holocaust History Museum in Israel, and the Skirball Cultural Center.

In addition to models, Global Citizen uses sketches, drawings, photographs, and films of more than thirty building projects to explore Safdie’s aesthetic language of transcendent light, powerful geometry, and iconic forms. The designs exemplify Safdie’s knack for combining social activism and modern technology while maintaining a profound respect for historical and regional context. Ceremonial and uplifting, yet never intimidating, Safdie’s buildings are places where communities are forged of strangers, memory is enshrined, and identity is created.
