It’s the West Coast premiere of ABUELITA’S CHRISTMAS CAROL, Alex Garza’s heart-warming tale that offers a new take on a classic holiday theme. DO512.com tells us “In loving tribute to family and experiences from his own life, Garza portrays a comic and touching array of characters that do find what it means to live a truly ‘wonderful life.’ ” Rosa is a 70 year old abuelita (grandmother) with her own cooking show who begins to question her life and its meaning as the holiday season approaches. Only a journey navigated by the people of her past can bring her to the enlightenment she needs to realize how much she has truly made a difference. The ghosts of her loved ones appear to her and lead her to this understanding, as she is filled with memories, both happy and sad. Alex Garza portrays his beloved grandmamma Rosita and nine other characters, including the ghost of his little pig, in this delightful and poignant holiday offerin. Alex Garza has been writing and performing most of his life. He visits Los Angeles from the hill country of Texas, the state where he was born and raised. He performed his first solo show, Pulse, at the Blue Theatre in Austin. Since then, he has created many one-man plays, including I’m Not Ghandi, The Baby Harp Seal Diaries, Coconut, and Misfit. His shows have been seen throughout South and Central Texas, ranging from Houston to Del Rio. The West Coast premiere of ABUELITA’S CHRISTMAS CAROL will be the seventh year Garza has performed his most beloved play, and the first year he will perform it in both English and Spanish, in loving tribute to his maternal grandmother. Four performances only - performed in English December 15 at 2:00pm & 4:00 pm and December 16 at 2:00pm and in Spanish December 16 at 4:00 pm.
