A Clarion Call for Justice: Rally to Support Proposition 30

Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice together with the Los Angeles College Faculty Guild (AFT 1521) will join to show support for Proposition 30, a desperately-needed measure that will stave off further cuts to education, public safety, and social services budgets. Speakers at a rally and press conference will be punctuated by shofar blowers who will sound “a clarion call for justice.”

Spearheading the rally and press conference will be Joshua Pechthalt, president of the California Federation of Teachers; Scott Svonkin, a member of the Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees; and Joanne Waddell, president of AFT 1521.

Enter the campus on Fulton Ave. at Hatteras. To park,go around the traffic circle, and head north.  Parking will be available along College Road North.

New Old Friends

I've recently become close with Abe and Frank, two older guys in my neighborhood. At 90 and 88 respectively, they’re not the typical age of my other friends. At first I wasn’t sure if it was friendship. Maybe they were just humoring me or passing the time. Why would old people want to be friends with me, a 35-year-old?
