53rd Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration

Bring the whole family to L.A.‘s biggest, Emmy-nominated holiday show at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. More than 20 choirs, music ensembles and dance companies from the many neighborhoods and cultures of L.A. celebrate the season during this free three-hour extravaganza. Even the parking underneath the Music Center is free. Some highlights this year: Colburn Children’s Choir, a 50-voice ensemble of the Colburn School of Performing Arts peforming holiday songs in Hebrew and English; Vox Femina Los Angeles, a choir of 40 women singing songs celebrating Hanukah and Christmas;.the Elliot Deutsch Big Band, an 18-piece contemporary jazz ensemble, returning to Holiday Celebration with upbeat, original arrangements of holiday songs; and Invertigo Dance Theatre, celebrating the sunny weather that characterizes the winter season in L.A. New Old Friends

I've recently become close with Abe and Frank, two older guys in my neighborhood. At 90 and 88 respectively, they’re not the typical age of my other friends. At first I wasn’t sure if it was friendship. Maybe they were just humoring me or passing the time. Why would old people want to be friends with me, a 35-year-old?
