The Jewish Origins of Cultural Pluralism

Daniel Green (Newberry Library, Chicago) will discuss his new book which traces the emergence of the idea of cultural pluralism to a group of Jewish college students and public intellectuals including the philosopher Horace M. Kallen. They founded the Menorah Association at Harvard in 1906 and later the influential Menorah Journal which advocated for a pluralist America rather than the idea of a melting pot.
